Warning for Parents Considering WGCS As a parent, I feel compelled to share my experience with WGCS…read morein the hope that it helps others make an informed decision. From my perspective, the leadership at the school, particularly the owner, Kyle Boyd, demonstrated a style that felt rigid and, at times, difficult to work with. I felt that communication lacked transparency, and it seemed to me that decisions were often made without considering the well-being of the students and their families. My child entered WGCS as a mild-mannered, enthusiastic student. However, during our time there, I noticed significant changes in his demeanor that concerned me. I also had questions about the academic curriculum. Despite the school's claims of offering an advanced curriculum, in my opinion, it did not meet South Carolina's academic standards. I observed that extra credit was frequently used to raise students' grades, which left me concerned about the consistency and rigor of grading practices. Also, I felt as if communications between teachers and parents were lacking or non-existent; especially in Math. Athletics were another point of concern. While the school promotes its commitment to offering several athletic programs, in my experience, there was no on-site gymnasium, and the off-site facility used did not feel particularly safe or appropriate for school sports (and it is across town). Additionally, I found the handling of my son's attempt to play public school sports troubling. I felt that WGCS staff misrepresented facts in a way that ultimately harmed his opportunity. Thank GOD for AAU sports, which more than prepared him to play next year. What the devil meant for evil, GOD turned it around for his good! Spiritually and culturally, I had hoped for a community that uplifted and embraced Christian values such as honesty, fairness, and love. Unfortunately, I did not feel that those values were consistently demonstrated here. As a parent of a minority child, I also observed what I perceived as a lack of inclusion, particularly in how students were recognized during school awards. In our time at the school, I did not see any minority student receive certain awards that are meant to reflect strong Christian character. It's very difficult for me to write this, and I waited until the end of the school year to do so because I did not want my son to face any retaliation. Due to our negative experience, I cannot recommend WGCS until serious meaningful changes are made.

As a working mom UFCA's before school AND after school programs are a blessing especially as they continue this service through high school which some schools didn't offer. Another smaller school bonus is not having to wait through huge car lines, and I can find a place to park and sit for special events like muffins with moms. We have been "spoiled" by coming from a well organized, timely and all around great Christian School in South Carolina were we moved from. So our expectations were very high. After 2 days at the school...we pulled out son. The final straw was a letter from the Head Mistress saying our son would be penalized for not attending an overnight retreat. This wouldn't have been an issue , except it was a question we asked admission before committing and was told he could skip without penalty, -Chores at school with the Janitor-Really( Its 2019 People I am not letting my son go on a trip 6 days into a new school year with a bunch of strangers - Have you read the paper lately) Unfortunately other than our interaction with Tonya in Admissions, everything went down hill from there. I am not going to use this review to get emotional or gripe about the money we are out. I am just going to bulletin point everything and let you take it from there. I do want to mention , that because of this , our son is now in Public School for the first time in his 7 years in school. The crazy part is, "free" school has been better organized and more professional and than UFCA. When looking for schools in Early July We toured UFCA and our son also shadowed for a half day. The "showboat" part went well. - 30 days before school started I was following them on Instagram and they said they would be posting a new post everyday until school started- The next day they missed the post which should have been my first sign (they missed several posts) - An email was sent out 2 days before an Athletic Meeting even though we was out of time - A sign of how communication would be - Open House was a mess- We were put in a crowded hot cafeteria, with no direction. We headed to the chapel on a whim after hearing another couple say they were heading that way. - Open house started 7 minutes late - (This is school, c'mon people ), what are we teaching these kids. The Open House is where we found out school would run a little later than we were originally told - a blessing that it dint affect us, but what about the parents who it did affect - We then as a crowd were asked for sponsorship (they called them partnerships but did not list any of the benefits to the payee" and they also talked about online reviews. - It was very uncomfortable and not professional at all - The head mistress then had lots of back and forth in a very unorganized speech. There was no notes or references and it was scattered at best. It was not professional in the slightest and a horrible first impression. - My sons first day of school was going to be great, as we pulled into the mess of a car loop line, The Bible Teacher begin yelling and being rude for No Reason (yes the Bible Teacher). After some back and forth (and no apologies) we headed around the car loop and asked the Head Mistress where to park to walk our son into his first day of school. She said that wasn't allowed, and when I gave her that look she made an "exception" (is this really happening and let me walk our son in. When we got there the Teacher was not in the room, the door was shut and the lights were off, another teacher let us in the room...Great first day - The next night was our "Soccer" meeting - Another unorganized joke. Not enough players, no roster call and then it went from practicing outside , to the chapel (yes they said they practice in the chapel) to an hour in the hallway in the most unorganized practice I have ever seen. It was just too much so soon. The signs were there. I hope we can save you- By the way they are still charging my card - We will now be taking them to small claims.

They also must test each year to see if they have learned the required material in order to be passed to the next grade, so grades alone dont pass them. They go to Chapel and also are encouraged to play sports, band, and participate in the fine arts competition each year which is a state wide chirstian school event. All the teachers are Christian men and women, and certified. The principal is also the pastor of the Church at the same location and is a wonderful man. the field trips are so much better than public school especially at the high school level. they have their own charter bus so no uncomfortable yellow bus trips. They often have other family events like cookouts and trips to see Christmas lights. I am so glad we took our child out the publc schools around here.

The front reads, "This church, founded in 1788, predates the present town of Fort Mill and has occupied four sites in the vicinity. The first church, a log building, stood about 2 mi. NE in a community known as "Little York." It burned in 1804. A log church was built 5 blocks N, where the first church cemetery was laid out. That church burned in 1838, and the congregation moved to a site just E of the current location." And the reverse, "The second church cemetery, laid out nearby, became a municipal cemetery in the 1920s. The third sanctuary, a frame building, burned in 1880. A Romanesque Revival church built here in 1881, featuring a central bell tower, was constructed with bricks made from local clay. It and the historic cemeteries nearby were listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. A new sanctuary was built here in 2010." This is marker number 46-49 and it was erected in 2010 by the Congregation. There is plenty of parking. [Review 51 of 2025 - 1240 in South Carolina - 23620 overall]
