Beware of extremely unprofessional customer service at this establishment. I asked to extend my stay by one night and clearly told the front desk I would be down in a couple of hours to pay. He initially seemed fine with that, but then called back just ten minutes later--this time agitated--insisting that the hotel doesn't "revolve around me" and demanding paperwork be filled out immediately. Surprised, I got out of the bath right away and came down to resolve the issue. Despite apologizing for what I thought was a simple miscommunication, I was met with hostility. The staff member became increasingly upset, told me to pack my things, and threatened to call the police for trespassing. To my disbelief, he actually did. The police arrived, and I left immediately. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and have never experienced such an extreme, unnecessary overreaction. What could have been handled with basic courtesy and professionalism turned into a hostile, bewildering ordeal. I truly hope the management reflects on how this kind of treatment affects guests. Cliff the manager obviously takes pride in keeping the hotel clean and safe. We had plenty of convenient parking ( pre season in early April). The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. We were in a pet allowed room which our dog spent very little time sniffing around so that tells me it's been kept very clean which we could see for ourselves it was well maintained. The hotel had been recently renovated and the manager is really working hard to keep that condition intact. Easy drive into Farmington if you don't find the store or restaurant you want in smaller Aztec. We visited the Aztec Ruins National Monument which was less than 5 minutes from this hotel. Breakfast bar had more hot offerings than the usual waffle maker, scrambled eggs and sausage which was great. read more

I showed up the night before Thanksgiving with kids. The owner was absolutely the worst. He wouldnt let me check in. He told me locals weren't allowed. We were watching our nieces 1 year old and he said absolutely no locals allowed. When I was telling him the child was 1 he kept telling me no locals and said he wouldn't do business with me. The night manager of this place, "Cliff" Viegas, thinks this cheap, one-star hotel is anything but, and treats his guests disrespectfully. He will make idle threats to call the police if you slight him. Read all the other reviews, they all say the same thing. For someone in hospitality, he sure acts shamefully. After waiting five minutes for the desk clerk to terminate his social visit in the lobby and come to the front desk , he was Extremely rude and refused to provide us a room when we complained about the 100$ security deposit. Staff and owner are very friendly! Without asking they assigned our room so we could keep an eye out for our vehicle and boat. Originally we were on the 2nd floor. The people above us were extremely loud, had tons of kids, and made noise all night long. We notified the front desk. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! THEY ARE A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS!!! I wish I read the reviews before booking. This was the closest hotel to Aztec MX which was our reason for booking. The hotel owners are horrible. We booked two rooms with a total of 7 of us staying at the hotel. We had to ask permission to use the pool since it was padlocked. The owners yelled at my two older teen children when they came down to join us and they demanded to know the names of the children and which room they were from. The owner sat outside and watched us the entire time as we swam in the pool. The pool was freezing cold so we used the hot tub which was pretty cold as well. After about 10 minutes, the owner came and turned on the cold water to the hot tub as a sign he wanted us to get out. We were the only people using the facilities. There were only 2-3 other customers there during our stay. Now we understand why. The owners sat in the camera room and watched our every move the entire stay. Very uncomfortable. We also discovered dirty towels hanging on the back of the door upon initial entry into the bathroom in our room. I doubt they clean the rooms or wash the sheets. Then upon checkout, they advised they would return my cleaning/damage deposit of $100 which never happened. I had to dispute the charge with my bank to finally receive the refund. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR STRESS. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Apparently the mayor is aware of the problems at this hotel and has been trying to get these guys out for a while now. Do not stay here read more

This hotel owner was EXTREMELY rude to us. I was appalled at his lack of basic human kindness and relational wellbeing to his guests. We booked online and arrived about 1 hour too early, sat in patio outside enjoying the sun and he was upset at that. I had gotten in a car accident and came here to heal until Sunday to drive my car back to Denver. I am a very gentle woman, kind and was in a ton of pain. He allowed me to sit on patio to wait but when I went to check in he was EXTREMELY abrasive. He asked for my id and SNATCHED it from me. I said "sir, I am hoping we can be kind to one another, I did not mean to upset you." he then became irate and told me to get out of his hotel, stared to yell and literally scream. I had not confrontation w him, only spoken nice- was clearly in discomfort and pain with stotches all over my face. I told him when I left that he was being unkind and I felt sorry for him. He was ridiculous . They have not refunded our money and now are saying that it's unrefundable . We arrived tired... and the guy behind the counter wanted to talk politics. Then he demanded a $100 "deposit" over and above the price of the room... to be refunded after the room was inspected the next morning. I've never been asked for that kind of thing, and it seemed like a spur-of-the-moment deal because we'd already been handed key cards. If I'd put the deposit on my card I have to wonder if it would have ever been returned. As it was I handed him cash and he made a big deal out of putting it in an envelope and sealing it. Then we tried to get into the room and the room key/card didn't work. It was very finicky and even when we asked for help the guy had a hard time. The same thing with the outside door when we tried to bring luggage in. Others were having trouble too so we were all doing our best to help each other by holding and opening doors. The next morning I asked for the deposit back and a younger guy went to inspect the room. I was relieved when the cash was returned. It doesn't make for a good nights rest. Then he wouldn't let her use our credit card for deposit. Others said this hotel is a scam. It's true. We ended up having to get a room in Farmington because he wouldn't let her check in. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE! You can hear the cars at the racetrack until midnight and our room Was at the front of the hotel so we could hear the slamming of the hotel front doors every time they would slide open! It takes ages to get the water to run warm and even though the hotel wasn't full, they booked guests in rooms side by side so you can hear everything going on next door. Save yourself the trouble and drive into Farmington for a room cuz you won't get any rest here. They have breakfast, but nowhere to sit & they charge you $15 if you take food outside the breakfast area. They also "hold" $100 to make sure the room is "clean" when you check out. Seriously? I paid $76 for a queen size bed and there was no pet fee which I was very pleased with! Rooms were decently small but you get what you pay for. Overall I'd stay here again but maybe without my dog. My fiancé, baby and I planned on staying here 3 nights while in town for my nephews wedding. Well, we ate the free breakfast this morning and both of us had food poisoning shortly after. We've spent the majority of the day sick in our room, and fiancé actually went to urgent care. I called front desk to see if anyone else had reported being sick, and the manager immediately got defensive and told me to call 911, and that their food is fresh and it must have been from somewhere else we ate. Funny thing is only thing we ate was breakfast here. I told him we'd be checking out tomorrow when we felt better instead of Monday. He told me that we should just check out now. Had a room here booked the other day, when my family and I arrived at the hotel, I went inside to check in. Neither person at the front desk were wearing a mask, I let them know it made me uncomfortable. I had a reservation for this hotel today. Before leaving for Aztec, my wife felt she needed a COVID Test. She got a test at 11:00, we got our results at 12:00 and I called to cancel about 1:00. I was told that their cancellation policy was 24 hrs. ahead of check-in time, so I believe it is 3:00 yesterday. They said they will charge me one night's rate. So, I looked at the confirmation. It was from Choice Hotels. So, I called to talk with Choice Hotels. They said I made it on-line through the hotel and so it would be their decision. The Choice rep said he'd talk with the manager. He did for 30 minutes, but came back and said the manager wouldn't change his mind. He said Choice would refund it with proof of a positive COVID test if I made it through them, but in this case, the manager had final say and wanted the one-day rate. I wonder what the hotel's COVID policy is. This example gives a positive COVID patient the incentive to stay in their hotel sine the money is being spent. That gives them access to the common areas and the breakfast bar. If you need to stay in Aztec, make the reservation through Choice Hotels. I do not trust the management of this hotel to do the right thing. read more

This is a very nice decent Hotel, I came during Christmas and it looked like it was just us, and maybe another family that checked in. The breakfast was your usual, nothing fancy but it was good. The room came with a coffee maker, mini fridge (not stocked lol) microwave, and a ironing board/iron, HBO movie channels, and they also have a little store to buy ice cream/soda, etc. I will definitely be coming back to this hotel when we travel to Aztec. read more

We had a family emergency where our daughter ended up in the local hospital. While I was driving, my husband was trying to make a reservation at a hotel in Farmington, NM to be close to the house that is in Kirtland, NM which is where our daughter and grandsons live. Instead, he accidentally made it for this place. When he realized it was 25 miles away from the house, he tried to get it moved to the closer location. The property manager refused. Contacted Choice Hotels and they tried and again the property manager refused. He also refused to give his name. This location has absolutely no compassion for families that are in the midst of an emergency. Do not stay here. read more

Bait & Switch--online the price is advertised as $63. I called the hotel directly because I wanted to ask some questions. I was quoted $72.99 for more than one person. When I arrived the first night was $72.99 the rest went up to $82.99-very shady practice! Then when I checked out multiple charges were added bringing the total to $500 for four nights! Are you kidding me? They have a "nightly" bonfire that is nice to advertise but no one attends as well as a grill that no one uses. It was snowing and they did not clean the sidewalks or parking lot for the four nights we were there so we had to trek through 4-8" of snow that made our floor wet so our socks feet would be wet if we walked on our hotel room floor. Breakfast was pretty meh--old fruit and very generic offering. I had to buy my family breakfast everyday because it was so meh.... the first day they "forgot" to clean our room. When I informed the front desk she gave me a couple of towels and said can I help you with anything else--no apology or response to my complaint.
