I stayed here recently on business. It has been a while since I stayed in this hotel. There have been considerable improvements to the lobby and rooms if you have not stayed here in over 2 years. Nice bright lobby and the breakfast area has been refreshed with new tables and chairs and more windows which makes it seem more light and airy. There is an area by the front desk to buy snacks etc as well. Staff are friendly. Rooms have been refreshed and now have nice wood desks, wardrobes etc. Beds and linens are quite comfy, and they have a nice wood vanity with more modern counter and fixtures. There is a flat panel tv with cable, plus a small fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. One beef however, I asked for a quiet room and they put me 2 down from the main lobby and ice machine. My keys also did not work first time around and I had to go back to the main desk. Re my room location, I was hopeful it would not be a problem, but thanks to my neighbours - no such luck. The room doors when they close are still very noisy and they were in and out of their room repeatedly at 4am and using the ice machine. So much for a good nights sleep. :( Not sure I will be back -- because people just let the doors close as they will and they don't have a "soft close" feature. They serve a continental plus breakfast in the lobby. There were scrambled eggs and sausage, plus the usual (toast, cereal, bagels, yogurt, english muffins), juice and coffee/tea. Recently had a stay here in Chatham for about 3 nights and 4 days. My mom had hip replacement surgery done at the hospital, and we needed a place to stay for a few nights while she was healing post op. The staff at the hospital recommended here, and I'm glad they did, this place was wonderful, warm, welcoming and clean. I would recommend anyone to stay here. We checked in on Thursday afternoon and the wonderful staff member checked us in, joked with us, and told us where to go, where everything was and we headed on to our room. Our room was located on the second floor and the only way to the second floor was via the stairs. They had a grand staircase going up, which if you weren't able to use, you would have to stay on the first floor. The whole place was warm when coming in, and every time we were greeted by the front desk with a smile or hello. Our room was clean, when we walked in, proceeded to settle in, and use the washroom, which was also clean. The rooms inside come with a closet, a mini fridge, which they keep off to conserve energy, a microwave, tv, drawers, a desk and chair, and free wifi, which was the best part, because I had also brought my laptop to use in the meantime. The parking is also free, and there is a Tim Horton's in close proximity, but also in the mornings between 6:30am to 9:30am they had a continental breakfast, and an array of choices, such as scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea and array of juices and fruits. I didn't spend too much time in the hotel during the day, but the cleaning staff do come around to clean the room. I had requested for the pullout sofa to be made, because my dad had come to spend the last night with me before my mom was discharged so he could bring her home. They went over and above expectations and brought us extra towels as well as blankets. The staff were wonderful. The greetings from the front attendant, every time you went in or out, the cleaning staff, the continental breakfast staff, all wonderful. I would stay here again if I stayed overnight in Chatham. read more

This location doesn't look inviting from a passing car, but inside it is clean and decorated nicely for a more budget friendly chain. I was greeted quickly, but immediately told I had to wait for an employee who was nowhere in sight to check me in. However, the front desk staff member who greeted me helped another guest with an issue who walked up after I was told to wait. When the other employee never returned, she helped me. So . . . why didn't she just help me when she greeted me? The next news I received was that they would not honor the price listed in the confirmation email from when I made the reservation. They charged me $32 extra. I wouldn't have come the night before the competition we're here for had I known this would happen. I only came the day before because the lodging price was reasonable. She said she couldn't do anything about it and I'd have to call to try to get it straightened out. First, when we entered our room, we were greeted with what smelled like wet dog. But no, it was the smell from the refrigerator that housekeeping left open to air out. Why would they do that, you ask? They turn the refrigerator off between guests, and the refrigerator in our room reeked of old pizza. As far as the rest of the surroundings, the room needs updating in regard to the drapes and the loud wall heating unit. There is no happy medium between hot and cold with this heater. Everything was clean, and the small TV broadcast plenty of channels. Breakfast is included in the price, and was ok. The apple cinnamon muffin was somewhat bland, but surprisingly moist and delicious. There was a waffle maker and toaster for bagels and bread. The scrambled eggs were wet and slimy, which always grosses me out. A couple items were empty, including the hot water container for tea, and there was hardly any tea left unless you wanted decaffeinated, which doesn't cut it for me in the morning. The bagels and danish had been recently thawed and were damp and cold. The bananas were bright green. The sausage was the worst tasting sausage I've ever had. So . . . it was ok. Check out was another surprise. When I looked at the bill, not only did I have the higher price on my receipt, but they added something called a marketing service fee. It was an extra $4.33! There aren't many hotel choices in Chatham, but if you can get into the Holiday Inn, I'd give that a go before booking here. Stayed here recently, loved that I could book a room with my dog with me. The hotel it self has been nicely updated. The complimentary breakfast was great for something complimentary. All of the staff including front desk, housekeeping and the staff for breakfast all seemed very friendly and accommodating. Price was great for the room we had. The only things I could suggest would be to expand and add a pool, have a larger fitness room with more equipment (maybe not a popular hobby in the area..?) and the carpet definitely needed to be replaced in the room I stayed in. Stayed here for a wedding in town (that hotel was booked solid). From the outside this place seems rundown and aged, but I have to say it is a lot better on the inside. Everything seems updated and clean, the room accommodations were adequate and quite comfortable. Breakfast was adequate, and the typical cheap variety (so don't expect starbucks coffee, or anything other than some toast, eggs, and make your own waffles). Its a serve your own type of continental breakfast, which is fine if you don't expect too much out of it. A good choice in Chatham... *shudder* read more

Had a recent overnight in Chatham and was delighted with the service at the Comfort Inn. The room was clean (even had a toilette to use on the remote!) The mattress was a bit too squishy for me but everything else was fine. Marjorie Brown the Front Desk Supervisor sets a high standard for the staff and they are friendly and helpful. A bonus is the 24 hour coffee and the continental breakfast bar in the morning. I really appreciated being able to hang out for a couple hours in the morning to access the wifi and get some work out of the way before I got on the road again. Try the Friday's down the road from the hotel for some good food and unusual drinks. read more

NO ELEVATOR! over a hundred dollars a night for a run down ( albeit clean) room Carpet needs replacement. trash in parking lots. no place to park due to 18 wheelers. the place needa a makeover. Next time will stay in London Ontario at the courtyard by Marriott. Much cheaper....staff offered to carry our luggage up, but what about me???? my newly reconstructed ankle had a time with the stairs. read more
