    The Heather House

We were just there 3 full days July 2nd to the 5th 2026. No words are enough to describe the home…read moreand the new owners are incredible sweetest ever. They are 2nd year owners taking over from previous owners that ran it 35+ years. They are so very gracious and to think re-visiting where I grew up "was" going to do a 3 stay hotel in Marysville till I looked up the rates for the Heather and for over the major July 4th the room daily fee was a mere $42.00 more a night and included a no joke "Chef Gordon Ramsey" quality breakfast every morning. We got to see all the rooms being nobody was there yet for that day and it took a few days to see every detail. Pictures don't do enough so to see in person was a treat and every room is decorated it's own way. The place is really quiet also even when other people were around it's just really nice and we didn't hear anything the whole three days there just when people came down for breakfast. You get your own front door key to come and go as you please anytime the front door locks behind you. The A/C in the rooms are perfect and whisper quiet never heard such a quiet unit before no motel ones are like that. TV, internet, every room a bathroom some have a jacuzzi. Bed was high end and so were the sheets and pillows. Everything you need is there to use even a hair dryer on the wall. Lots of storage for clothes and other furniture to sit on besides a bed. Everything antique is just amazing and talk about super clean. Every room has it's own balcony and you can just look out and see the freighters going by in the St. Clair river. That coffee quality is something I never had before and asked them what they use and said we get in Port Huron specially made in a coffee house. Amazing inside that as well but the Heather owners are the best so being the previous owners were awesome for many years, these two young people have a huge reputation to uphold and they are doing just that. Can't say enough about them and the experience staying there. The breakfasts are 8:30 and we chose the front window table for 2 every morning full service facing the river they bring everything to you this is not buffet it's full service included in price. They have a real large table for multiple people to have breakfast also. NEVER had breakfasts like these before that good and so unique and every day is different not repeated. For the rates and what you get who needs a boring common motel that can cost this easily and more most of the time for each night and just maybe get a generic breakfast. The Heather B&B is a hidden treasure and been there so many years. Post this and share comments. People may think a historic B&B is high priced but search rooms by name and rates you'll find this is a bargain and very special.

The couple was very hospitable and we loved co-mingling at breakfast with the many other guests. Still rating 5 starts but the only draw back we had was the truck traffic outside our window was a lil loud sometimes but all in all a wonderful stay!!

Let me start by saying I was very hesitant to stay here given the property's current rating. Our…read morestay was totally outstanding. First, St. Clair Inn joined Marriott as part of their Tribute Portfolio brand approximately a year ago. I was greeted and recognized as a Titanium guest. My room request was honored (river/balcony king) and although my room wasn't ready as we arrived pretty early, they promised to call the minute it was. We got that all about an hour later well in advance of their posted 4:00pm check in time. Our room was in the new wing and was very nicely appointed. Bed was super comfortable and housekeeping did a great job as our room and bathroom was squeaky clean. The real attraction for me was the balcony facing the St. Clair river. We spent a fair amount of time relaxing on the balcony when we weren't with our friends. Hotel was very full but we never experiences any noise. Front desk was accommodating and helpful. Hotel has a restaurant (Dive) but since our friends chose great restaurants in the area, we did not eat at the hotel. There is a bar in Dive as well as a "speakeasy" called Prohibition. We checked out Prohibition in the morning and would have loved to drink there but a busy schedule and a huge dinner made this bar best tried the next time we come here - and we definitely will. A local historic hotel combined with Marriott management is a winning combination in my opinion.

Two years ago we had a really fun getaway here. So we decided to do it again. We're sorry we did…read more We booked a river balcony room two hours before we arrived and he gave us one without a balcony. We asked for the balcony room and he said they were sold out. So we went online and booked another balcony room and gave him our confirmation number. Surprise! There was a balcony room that housekeeping was almost done readying. But he said we couldn't cancel the first room. We took the balcony anyway. Muka checked us in. She's wonderful. Drove to a great restaurant on the river. Then to an outdoor free concert across from the hotel. Sat on the balcony with some wine. Lovely! Until we tried the TV. It wouldn't work. Tried the room's phone to call about the TV. It wouldn't work. Called from my cell. Maintenance was busy but would help soon. An hour later I walked to the front desk. They forgot. Radioed maintenance. Skyler came to help. He is wonderful. The guy at the front desk was supposed to tell us that the TV had just been installed and wasn't programmed yet nor connected to wifi. It arrived hard coded not to work until connected to the hotel system by installed by an engineer. Ugh!! Later I tried to change the room temperature, and that seemed locked down too. Went online. No more rooms. Front desk: No more rooms. Holiday weekend with fireworks, sold out. And they had given away our no-balcony room with the TV that works. We live an hour away. But really couldn't just throw up our hands and go home after the wine. The room is super clean and the bedding is divine. The common areas are like being at an upscale resort. There is a very friendly and upbeat staff, so management has created an excellent culture. This wasn't a Marriott before. So maybe the transition has some challenges. We loved this place the last time, and we love Marriott BonVoy. We don't love it this time. I hope they figure things out. By the way, I sent this to a manager in reply to their email that asked about my stay. And I posted it on the BonVoy web site. But after a couple of weeks I have heard back. The manager has been replying to other reviews, but not to ours. Too embarrassed, I guess? Still, we expected more.
