You really couldn't ask for more from the look of the hotel, it's slick and urban but still has a warm homely feel. Unfortunately noise really is an issue. Chur Burger on the ground floor plays very loud music, and has an alfresco area that is below one side of the hotel, this is also the entrance area to the lift to the rooftop bar. Maybe I'm just getting old, or perhaps I should have realised this hotel is obviously a party style hotel and was best not to book here on weekends if I wasn't partying... My room was on the second floor and it was noisy, mostly with people talking in the alfresco area of Chur below. The lovely staff moved me to a quieter room on the fifth floor. One of the friendly staff members told me that they were currently looking in to how to make the rooms quieter. I suggest that when you book make a request to be in a quiet room if you're staying there on the weekend.

But the towels aren't as nice as Emporium or even the ones on my house. Soft bed sheets though. I ordered room service from Chur. Amazing lamb burger - a must try. 'Light Space' offers a refreshing change to this with its minimalist industrial chic design, high ceilings and modern architecture. Situated in the Valley (on the border of Newstead), it is also an easy location to get to. I came here for the UQ Architecture 2011 exhibition and was impressed at how fitting of a venue this place was for it. The space was divided in 2 large rooms, one loungy room with a wide bar and the other area was as the exhibition space. The white walls and bright lighting really worked well in showcasing the 80+ student works that were being presented. Overall, this was an ideal place to fit all student works plus accommodate to the 200-300 people that attended the event. The size of the bar is very wide, which is practical when serving a large group of people thirsty for some free booze. The decor and layout of 'Light Space' makes the place very versatile. I can imagine it would be a great place to host a wedding or large party. The high ceilings, white walls and amount of space would make this a great place to shoot audiovisual material in. If you have a medium-large sized function/exhibition/party to organise, or need a studio space for a photo shoot, you might want to look into hosting it at Light Space.

Was noticed after a couple of minutes, no problem. The place was not full even by social distancing conventions so the waitress grabbed a menu and sat me at a little table in the walkway in front of the kitchen area. Not a good table by a long shot and one I was not comfortable sitting at. I was by myself and did not want to be sat in such an awkward place within a couple of feet of the dividing bar like a naughty school child being sat in front of the class. I went up to the waitress and said I wanted another table please as I was not happy to be sat there and she said, social distancing blah blah blah. No offer of a different seat, just blah blah. The place had other tables that people had just vacated and the lunch rush was well over but it was obvious she didn't want to give me a better table so I just walked out. She didn't even offer a table to be cleaned that I could wait for. Please don't whinge about not enough customers when you can't even clean a table for one.
