You have to request Cleaning Service ahead of time, but that wasn't a problem with us since we just swapped out our towels.

Nice variety of eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, fruit, bagels, toast, pancakes, coffee, juice, yogurt, and pastries. All you can eat with a seating area or you can bring it back to your room. The property needs some maintenance. Stains on rugs, mold, paint chips, etc. My only complaint is the front desk worker. The young lady who worked during the afternoon and evenings was very pleasant and friendly. However, the young lady who worked during the morning and daytime was very unwelcoming and almost seemed annoyed to have anyone ask questions. She was on her phone each time I passed by or approached the front desk, and it seemed like she was upset that guests had the audacity to interrupt her time on her cell phone. Seems very unprofessional and unapproachable. Enough to make it unpleasant and feel unwelcome at the hotel. Free parking included. Other than the morning/afternoon front desk worker, everything else was acceptable, and the location has a lot of restaurants nearby and the hospital almost next door.

So, we were fortunate enough to stay here recently for 3 nights. I got pampered and spoiled! Even had a wonderful manicure. Elm Hurst Inn lived up to their reputation!! The Negative: It's one of those one-story places where you park right in front of your door. It's old, and the walls and furniture are a bit beat up. The plumbing is noisy, so any time anybody in the complex takes a shower, the pipes bump and murmur. The Positive: The outside has at least had an attempt made to stand out from the usual cookie-cutter motels of this style, including an interesting peaked roof treatment and what looks like real stone facing on the outside walls. The rooms are clean. The towels are nice and fluffy. There are at least a dozen places to eat within easy walking distance. There's a coin laundry on site. The complimentary breakfast is unusually nice for this price range, including one of those "make your own waffle" machines. (I LOVE those!) Nice big flat screen TVs fastened to the walls (and thus NOT taking up space on the bureau). The So-So: No coffee machine or hair dryer, but I don't use either, so I didn't care, but you might. There were two bars of soap: the usual tiny bar of facial soap (which I didn't open), and a slightly larger bar of deodorant soap, which had a slightly spicy smell, as if they were trying to evoke Old Spice, but mostly smelled like soap. My surprise at soap that actually smells like soap made me think back to the number of bars I've used at various hotels which smelled like anything but. I couldn't help but wonder if maybe soap companies think that customers dislike the smell of soap itself, and that's why they almost always load it up with perfumes. In general, it felt like the management is making an effort to provide service over and above what you'd expect at this price point. I'd stay there again, but I don't think I'd honeymoon there.

If you can't do stairs, you should stay on the ground floor as there is no elevator. Since I was the only guest and the receptionist goes home at night, I didn't want to be on the ground floor ... I felt safer being higher up since I was alone. The rooms have king beds, fireplaces, Jacuzzis (I love baths and used mine Tuesday night), complimentary WIFI (I found it slow most of the time) and complimentary parking. There was a coffee maker, kettle, toaster, mini fridge and some dishes in my room. Strange not to have a microwave oven, though. My room rate was $115/night plus taxes. There is no restaurant in the inn, though there are some within walking distance. I went to Barnacles Tuesday night, which was a ten minutes walk away, and KettleCreek last night, which was about a three minute walk away. When I walked into my room, it was welcoming ... the fireplace was going and there was easy listening music playing on the TV. I found it odd, though, that the time on the phone was 9.5 hours slow and the clock radio (which was cheap and should be replaced) was flashing (so not showing any time) and I had to set it. There are no blinds on the window ... just a light green drape. I don't know how well it would keep the sun out if you were trying to sleep during the summer.

That opens the door to an outstanding room with all the same class and elegance of the lobby but with an updated bathroom, a king size bed and all the conveniences of a new hotel from the flatscreen TV to the mini fridge in the desk and an Nespresso machine for your morning or evening espresso... whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner you're looking for, you need not leave the hotel, the House restaurant is every bit as elegant as the rest of the hotel with great service, a classy ambiance and excellent chef driven cuisine...
