A continental breakfast was included but I didn't get a chance to check it out. There are no restaurants within walking distance as this hotel on the outskirts of town (there are tons of restaurants downtown) so I went out and got some take-out pizza and brought it back to my room last night. Parking was free as it WIFI (it was quick). The rooms are nothing fancy but my queen bed was comfy. I had a mini fridge, Keurig coffee machine and or microwave oven. I was on the second floor and as a head's up, there was no elevator. There is construction going on (they are renovating the lobby and entrance way) so you have to go in through the side door.

We were greeted on our arrival at the entrance by 4 or 5 maids smoking. So you had to walk through…read morethe gauntlet of smokers to get to the lobby. It went down hill from there. The room was a smoker room and very dated (old). Virtually everything had a burn mark. The bed spread had burn holes, the carpet, the TV stand, the bathroom sink ad even the toilet. Needless to say the room smelled. The air condition was so nosily we had to turn it off and it was 30 degrees outside (that 86 Fahrenheit ). To add to the heat and smells the laundry room was open to the hallway so all the heat and laundry smells drifted through the hotel. The free breakfast was OK but the area was way too small and everyone was crowded around tying to get by each other. There was only a few tables so most people when back to their rooms to eat. Hosts Kim and Kevin are so welcoming and knowledgeable about all the doings in Stratford. The house is impeccably decorated, with tons of books to read and spaces to sit outside and enjoy the gardens. Refrigerators for personal use. Rooms and beds are comfortable and many have private decks. Tea and cookies always available. The most wonderful thing is that a big thermos of coffee is brought up into hallway in early morning for self serve. How great is that? No getting dressed! Outstanding ample breakfast each day featuring top notch very fresh and innovative breakfast items. A station with granola, fresh breads, croissants, biscuits and homemade jams starts one off. Then a hot item of astonishing quality. Dietary restrictions accommodated. Cannot wait to return next year!

Kevin got back to me immediately and replied to my inquiry and we quickly and efficiently arranged everything. My friend and I arrived a bit earlier than we'd initially indicated, but both Kevin and Kim were welcoming and helpful. We were shown to a reasonable sized room on the second floor and all necessary amenities were explained to us. The decor of the place wasn't really my cup of tea, but the room was clean and cozy, so I can put aside my own personal aesthetic. The private bathroom was a decent size and well laid out. The bed was a wee bit smaller than I'd imagined, but it was very comfortable. My favourite part of my stay though hands down had to be my breakfast! Because Kevin and Kim knew we had an early start, they got breakfast going extra early for us. We started with freshly baked croissants, lemon poppy seed cake, and assorted fresh berries. DEELISH! Then we had poached eggs with hollandaise sauce with heirloom tomato on a wonderfully salty rosti. SO SO GOOD!!! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the splash of pesto on the tomato added a perfect kick. I was in heaven. I love coming to Stratford to see the theatre. Next year, I am totally coming back here, but I am going to make sure that I have dinner at the Old Rectory too!

What is usually a mundane or non-memorable experience he turned into such a delight and went above and beyond. He even ran up the stairs to make sure he got to us before we got to our room to bring us the bottles of water we forgot (well didn't know we had). I wasn't aware of my member status with BW but Alfonso looked it up and saw that was one of my amenities and made sure I got it. Exceptional employee.

Hotel gave a discount next day but I told my friends to contact front desk right away. The stay included dinner which we upgraded to the 7 course as well as breakfast the next day. The water from the tub fir bath bomb was yellow so needed to re fill tub before dropping the bomb. Review for both meals will be on restaurant. The greenhouse was nice as well as the hiking trails but we noticed that there was a Santa brunch next to the spa which looked really good.

If you can't do stairs, you should stay on the ground floor as there is no elevator. Since I was the only guest and the receptionist goes home at night, I didn't want to be on the ground floor ... I felt safer being higher up since I was alone. The rooms have king beds, fireplaces, Jacuzzis (I love baths and used mine Tuesday night), complimentary WIFI (I found it slow most of the time) and complimentary parking. There was a coffee maker, kettle, toaster, mini fridge and some dishes in my room. Strange not to have a microwave oven, though. My room rate was $115/night plus taxes. There is no restaurant in the inn, though there are some within walking distance. I went to Barnacles Tuesday night, which was a ten minutes walk away, and KettleCreek last night, which was about a three minute walk away. When I walked into my room, it was welcoming ... the fireplace was going and there was easy listening music playing on the TV. I found it odd, though, that the time on the phone was 9.5 hours slow and the clock radio (which was cheap and should be replaced) was flashing (so not showing any time) and I had to set it. There are no blinds on the window ... just a light green drape. I don't know how well it would keep the sun out if you were trying to sleep during the summer.
