    Ropa vieja

A small but different place for Laredo. I love the cozy atmosphere and the very friendly team at Comida Caribeña. The ropa vieja con tostones y arroz con frijoles is my favorite. Limited menu but fair pricing. They actually close at 7pm, not 8 like Yelp says.

Best Cuban food west of Miami. Home made by the owners. Cuban sandwich, arroz con moros, arroz congrí, tostones, yuca frita, bistec con cebolla and even mofongo are served daily in here. Don't leave without trying a café Cubano with flan or a slice of coconut tembleque.

Wanted something different for lunch, so I decided to try this place. It's a small little restaurant on the corner, in not the nicest part of town. I was a little worried at first because I didn't know what to expect, but as soon as I walked inside I was relieved to discover that it was CLEAN. You can tell it is family owned by people who take pride in their business. The young lady who greeted me was very nice and answered all the questions I had about the menu. I wanted to eat some tostones rellenos but didn't see any on the menu. They said they could make them for me anyway. I was very pleased with the food, the hospitality and service. I will definitely be back.

Yummers. Good Cuban cuisine in Laredo

Legit Cuban food in Laredo. I was born and raised in Miami, and can say that the tostones, moros, and masitas de puerco are spot on. The reason for the four stars (instead of 5) is because of the limited menu. Also, no vaca frita on the menu (the owner says she used to have it on the menu, but it didn't sell...so I get it, but I love me some fried cow). Anyway, visit them early and often for yummy Cuban food.

Pretty good Cuban food, our waiter was friendly and helpful about explaining the menu. Would give more stars but it was pretty warm inside the restaurant. First thing I would change is the temperature inside and also add more menus.

The Cuban sandwich is so good!!

Homemade goodness! My family and I really enjoyed it! The empanadas are a must!!! They are handmade when ordered, not reheated!

Hole in the wall with Authentic Cuban food. Must try their ropa vieja. I went during lunch and it was not too busy.

Even after mentioning it to the waitress nothing was done. The quesadilla was pretty fair, nothing special just chicken and cheese, no spices. The restaurant wasn't busy, we were the only patrons. $50 for a very disappointing meal. Since we were staying at the hotel, we went down for breakfast. Greasy food and the refried beans in my taco were dry and crunchy. The waitress didn't pay attention, I had to ask twice for a coffee refill. We won't be back, I can see why there were no other customers.

We had amazing fried tongue and very good "shrimp ala diabla". The annoying part was when we got…read moreback to our room and TWO SECURITY looking guys plus the bartender knocked at our door asking if we had been at the bar because we left the wrong room number on the receipt implying they couldn't charge us since we left a wrong room number. Well the truth was we had not left any room number because WE HAD PAID AT THE BAR INCLUDING A GENEROUS TIP! We had to go to the front desk to fix THEIR ERROR (aka the bartender's error) and it was like pulling teeth to get them to admit that it was a whoops on their part. That incident made me knock off one star. It could have been handled better had the bartender admitted we handed him a credit card and he neglected to charge the card. Sad, because the bartender was actually very attentive... oh well.

The man with salt and pepper hair that I would assume was the manager was very funny and helpful. The waitress was polite and charming as well and had a few jokes as well. Overall the service part was very pleasant and is what would make me come back. The drinks were different but both nicely balanced and tasty. The food was somewhat of a miss as the protein seemed to have been a little over cooked but the sides and everything else was very delicious. The salmon, prime rib, and burger patty were all a bit over cooked. The salmon was a bit on the dry side for being blackened, the prime rib seemed to be over cooked or was either from day before or left over, and the burger patty after being asked for medium well was well done with no slight pink to be found. Those were the only misses in my opinion but everything else was great. They had run out of wings which I wanted to try but definitely worth trying if you have a chance. Cantarito shandy great balance and if you like grapefruit you'll love this drink. El canton the ginger and pineapple gave a banana type flavor but it was nicely balanced. Prime rib cocktail- great flavor from beer stewed vegetables. Beautiful balanced and got better with every bite, however the prime rib was over cooked and a bit tough. Almost tasted like prime rib used from day before or left over. Coconut blackened salmon - salmon a bit on dry side but the rice and plantain was on point. El capataz burger patty was well but the chorizo with mushrooms and cheese paired nicely.
