I…read moreflagged down a passing National Police car and they told me to call the Alameda de Hércules station where I was transferred to a very polite English-speaking officer who took my report over the phone and instructed me to stop by the next day to sign it. I assumed they'd never find the thief or my bag and resigned myself to the nightmare of having to obtain new travel documents. However, at 1:00 two plain clothes officers showed up at my hotel with my bag and passport. Nothing was missing! The thief, having found no money, discarded the bag in a nearby park where a good Samaritan found it and turned it in to the police. Thank you to the officers of Alameda de Hércules and the Sevilla Police Department for their professionalism and for going out of their way to promptly return my passport and other belongings! We really enjoyed taking our time through the gardens after seeing the palace rooms. It's very popular, so booking tickets ahead is a good idea, but it's absolutely worth visiting if you're in Sevilla.

For 15.5€ each we saw an underwatered garden with some construction going on and none of the water fountains were running. The only enchanting thing we saw were peacocks and a family of ducks taking a water bath and stagnant water. The quintessential patio de las doncellas was nice but doesnt make up for the entry fee. If you've booked tickets or are a history buff sure it might be okay but don't waste your time if you need to line up at 730am for day of use tickets. There are better places to see in Seville that are free.
