My first visit in years to Commack Liquors. It was apparent to me once I entered the stores that the ownership had changed. Also, I did not recall that they had such narrow aisles. There were three people working in the store and two of them were at the sales counter. Not once while I was in their store did anyone ask me if I needed any assistance. I was searching for a specific Scotch and did not realize that behind the counter they also had another section of scotch. So one would say the store has plenty of inventory, but not necessarily organized the way one could find it easily. read more

The address is actually 2020 Jericho Tpke in Commack, and it is in the mayfair shopping center. Customer service is non existent in this place, very rude and standoffish. Will not be going back!! Go about one mile east to long island wine and spirits, or up to prime wine and spirits in Kings Park, much better service , very friendly and knowledgeable. Very large selection of liquors. It has very tight aisles that leaves me fearing the break if you bought it theory. It is not the best organized but they have most stuff you're looking for. Prices seem comparable to other places around. Not the friendliest staff and they never really ask if you need help. Parking is oddly set up but is ample. read more

Was just in there and behind 2 ladies had TWO full shopping carts worth of liquor and wine and were checking out....i over heard that the cashier would now give them ANY discount. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing...they ladies were EXTREMELY nice and polite...however I felt compelled to add my 2 cents....the two guys behind the counter were not budging. After suggesting almost demanding to call the manager or owner...in a very nice way...i told them I was buying a $15. Bottle of wine and decided not to give this store a penny of my money...took a picture of the amount of bottles they wouldn't give a discount on.....you be the judge. Liquor store. I have popped in here a few times and i was a bit surprised by the size of the place. Much bigger tan it looks from outside. They carry a larger than expected selection of wine from all the wine producing regions - enough of a selection that you should find something to sip with your steaks and relax. Inventory is plentiful. Store personnel is helpful and knowledgeable. Not sure what the others are speaking to but my experience has been outstanding. If there is something that I don't find readily I ask and I am either referred to its location or advised it is not in stock. They always offer to order it which I have taken advantage of and true to their word the order arrives in a timely fashion. The store is small and I think they do their best to display their inventory with limited space. I come from Northport to visit this store whenever the need arises and for me they never disappoint. Ive been going here for quite sometime and have finally decided to stop giving them my business. They are very unfriendly. They have no manners what so ever. They don't say please or thank you. This place has been around for a LONG time. Competitive prices and good stock. Problem arises with recent owners. He is a cocky SOB with an attitude that is a disgrace to customer service. In one instance, I went in with my wife looking for a particular wine. Owner was sitting behind the counter stuffing his face with a sandwich and pointed in the direction of what we wanted. Could not find it and walked out. Gave it another try when we went in yesterday looking for a particular wine. I asked a stock boy who pleasantly referred me to the owner who when I saw him I said to myself "oh no..." When i asked where XYZ wine was, his response was "you not focused, you have to focus!" REALLY?!?!?!?!? No sir YOU have to focus as you are supposed to tell ME where your inventory is located. Customer service is of utmost importance and this place fails miserably in this regard. I came into this establishment for the first time last night at around 7:30pm. They were closing at 8:00 and I asked the man at the counter where the rosé selection was. He directed me towards the back of store and as I walked down an aisle, I slipped on the wet floor (it had been mopped, but there was no nearby caution sign). I landed directly on my kneecap and the friend that I was with asked if I was okay. The employees did not come over, they did not ask if I was alright, and truthfully, did not seem interested. I called today to touch base with the manager (who, as it turned out, was the man at the counter), but he still did not seem to care, especially after hearing that my orthopedist said I'd need to have a MRI and brushed me off the phone. While their selection was wonderful, this disgusting lack of customer service is something other patrons should be aware of b fore stepping foot inside. read more

There isn't anything wrong with this place. Have been coming here for years, and they have a relatively large selection of wine and liquor. My only gripe is that because I'm used to shopping in NY, the prices out on the Island are a little extreme. Some things are usually between $5-$15 more than I would pay in the city, but out this far east, I'm not about to drive to the city for a bottlo! This place literally had every wine I was looking for (even ones that are allegedly not sold off their respective vineyard!) Staff was super helpful and led me to every single item I inquired about, so idk where other are experiencing issues. My husband and I have been into this store about 5 times and purchased anywhere from 3 to 6 bottles of various types each time. They do have a good selection of wine, but what I've found is that their wine tastes odd and I can't drink it. We buy good wines - Napa Cabs, Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs, etc. I don't know what they're doing - whether it's storage or the distributor from whom they're buying it, but their red wines all taste musty. I can buy the exact same wine (including vintage) from there or another store and the ones at this store all taste bad. I can't drink it. We won't go there anymore. read more

This place used to be great when Dave and Wendy owned it. Always a smile and great customer service. It went downhill under the current owners. The male owner is short and curt. I clipped out and brought in one of his coupons once and he refused to take it because I did not have the WHOLE page. I told him that was silly as his coupon had gotten me to take action - and come into the store. "No - you need the whole page." Fine I said and left with my $100 cash in my pocket. I bought my case of wine elsewhere. The other thing is he is constantly out of the wine I buy. Never an apology or explanation. To be fair - they have good prices and a good selection.
