I paid 50% of the cost up front, which is standard, but Tim wouldn't take payment until a week before the work was to start, since I booked it about a month in advance. The two painters assigned to do the work are professional, personable, skilled, and have wonderful work ethic and pride in what they do. Ethan and Isaiah never missed a work day, and allowed us to direct which part of the house would be painted each day. They are a joy to have around. Insurance that would not cover us due to poor quality workmanship, and leaks. This was a real problem. We contacted John Cotton Roofing and were surprised to be told that he would be out within 2 days to have a look at the property. John was very forthcoming with an honest, and clear explanation of the issues surrounding our roof and a solid run down of the options we had to correct the problems. We came to an agreement with John on what options we were wanting (For us it was a completely new roof including underlay panels). John and his crew were very good with communication, and available when I called to confirm any details. The roof was stripped and rebuilt the very same day. His workers were diligent and respectful, and above all else hard working. Now after the workers had left and my wife and I did the applicable 360 of the house, to admire our new roof we agreed that we would now need to paint our vent pipes to match the high standard of our new roof. This was not in our agreement with John as we were happy to do this ourselves. I planned to do this the next weekend after work. I went to work the next day and when I arrived home I was surprised to see that all of the vents and chimney on the roof had their flashing upgraded and the pipes painted. I contacted John and he informed me that he had been reviewing the photos of the work that his crew had done and just felt that the job was unfinished. He took it upon himself to ensure that the finishing touches that made my roof complete were completed. This is something John Cotton Roofing did without being asked and without cost to me. Extensive Flooring Project with an "Out of this World" Result!!…read more Our home had severe water damage due to a water heater that had leaked for a long period of time before it finally let go. Needless to say, there was no way to know for sure just how bad it was until the demolition work began. We soon found out that most of the underlayment and subfloor would have to be removed and other repairs made before we would ever see our new flooring in place. Casey and Wendy did a fantastic job helping us along to the start. They were very responsive to our requests for quotes and even made an additional trip out when we uncovered important information. Once the renovation began, Casey and Craig worked their tails off to make everything right. With the joists exposed we were able to see the many areas that needed to be addressed before any flooring went down. There was plumbing that had leaks, joists in one area that had to be replaced, drain pipes that were broken, HVAC ducts that were missing insulation and rusting... and mold. A project that should have taken 10 days, quickly turned into a month-long ordeal. That is not a complaint. What I'm saying is that they did everything that was necessary and more to ensure that all of the issues that arose were resolved properly. I never once heard talk of any short cuts, rather, the discussions were about how to do something the right way. Obviously, there were changes from the original quote and these were all handled in written estimates. Billing was done at agreed upon intervals with no surprises. There were times when the costs were adjusted down due to changes as well. They are very open and fair in how they deal with clients. The end result is not just gorgeous floors, which they are, but we know that everything done to get there was done right and that there are no outstanding issues that could come back to haunt us (or Casey).
