The RN that started my IV was great. The staff was very nice & took me back within a few minutes. I've met the Dr & liked him. They sedated me alright. I was outta it after the procedure. I've never been released from a procedure/ofc-clinic being that "out of it". Problem began when I called after a week of having really bad pain (I'd had a cervical RFA-nerve burning) Nobody warned me I'd be in that kind of pain! I'd had a lower back RFA elsewhere & didn't have any probs. I called on a Monday. The girl let me know immediately they had 24-48 hrs to call me back, rather rudely & abruptly. Every other practice I've ever gone to, if I had had a procedure @ their ofc w THEIR Dr & called w questions or concerns, they'd call me back ASAP. Most practices want to either reassure you, answer questions or find out if you're having a more serious complication from the procedure, as they may need to intervene. Not here! Forget that. On Weds., I called back again as NO ONE had bothered calling me & I was still in a lot of pain & still having to take pain meds around the clock. The guy informed me there was no record of me ever having called. Well, you can imagine how that affected me. Here I am, in bad pain & nobody would've called me back! And then he had the audacity to say they had 24-48 hrs to call me back! At that, I went off & expressed exactly how I felt. Told them what PISS POOR CARE that was & if that was how they treated their pts., that I (as a new pt) may have to find another clinic for pain Mgmt. I snapped "I've ALREADY WAITED 48 hrs & may be having a complication from the procedure!" They simply DO NOT CARE. Obviously, they're either over-run w pts or are short-staffed or BOTH? The nurse practitioner my nephew has been seeing doesn't care. She keeps telling him there's no sense in trying to get approved for a procedure that had previously been denied even though his insurance told him to tell them to try again. He's also been told that a pain medication of 7.5/325 is the strongest there is which anyone can look up the different strengths of pain medication. My nephew has been on pain medication for almost 20 years. These idiots don't realize that eventually your body/the pain gets immune to what is being prescribed. The crazy thing about it is he had a previous doctor where he used to live prescribing him 10/325 before further injury happened. I told him he NEEDS to go see how their other office in Bardstown will do. Very incomppasinate and apathetic "providers." They make a plan up before speaking to a patient and will not change that after speaking with a patient. Funny enough, the plans seem focused on procedures and injections that will obviously be more profitable for them. And the only medicine they want to give is what they have samples of and are incentivized to give, even if you have told them you cannot take it. As is their online portal (impossible to register online - I gave up after 5 or 6 attempts) For calls - you will be looped into a never ending automated call system - rarely speak with a human being and when that finally happens - to actually set up a procedure - I found the human to be simply awful to speak with. I have a ton of hardware in my back that gives me constant pain. I went over everything in detail with the people there. They then did an epidural in the wrong area causing new nerve pain and zero relief of symptoms. They said "How is the pain in your tailbone" after it was done. The hardware is in my lumbar area, I told them AGAIN. I pretty much just got a response of "Whoops, we messed up and you probably can't get another one due to our inability to do our job." The people in the office were nice, but being nice doesn't matter when every other aspect is completely failed due to them not going into any of my records or listening to me, and they mess your back up in places that you didn't have pain before. Do NOT go here if you have any other option available to you at all! Look into Reiki instead and be healed that way. read more

#1 - I do not go here for medication. I go for steroid back injections. Top to bottom, this facility could not be LESS compassionate or even respectful of patients. They are downright rude. You cannot contact anyone in the actual office for any reason. All calls go to some center serving over 100 offices. That right there tells you that you, the patient, is regarded as something to be avoided. Dealing with this remote system takes weeks to get an appointment while you wait, in a pain. Personnel in recovery have one goal- to get your butt out of there whether you are ready or not. They can be heard at their desk making snide comments about getting people out. One person who was "helping" me get into my car after a procedure told me to sit and then put both feet in at the same time. I couldn't do it so I put one foot at a time. He then said, nastily, right in my face "and she does one foot anyway" as if I were not even there and a human in distress. The doctors themselves are arrogant and self-important. This facility is supposed to help people in chronic pain but give no consideration to the people suffering. Everyone is treated like an addict trying to get drugs even if you are actually a patient receiving only steroid injections or other procedures. I hope to find some other facility for treatment and never see this place again. read more

can i give zero.....i was given sedation i did not want and without my permission. Then they threatened to call law enforcement if i left the clinic and I could be arrested for DUI. They also where speaking about other patients and employees during my procedure talkin about how gloves where used on a patient with a latex allergy.....this is a very unprofessional practice. read more

Been a compliant patient for over a year now. I have found that following my pain contract requirements results in uncomplicated appointments. This last appointment saw new NP who understood my explanation about increase in pain and we had a professional discussion on how to approach my request. Greatly appreciate ability to come to an adequate compromise to address my condition with safe adjustment in meds. I appreciate the effort my new NP put into understanding my situation and being willing to help with adjusting pain control. read more

I'm leaving this review under an alias because I genuinely fear the practice might retaliate. I've been a patient here for over 10 years. I was born with a spinal defect that causes significant pain and now suffer from severe arthritis as well. In my younger years, my primary care physician (PCP) managed my pain effectively. But after the opioid epidemic, my PCP could no longer prescribe the medications I needed, and I was sent to pain management. Right from the start, I was labeled as "high risk" for drug abuse and diversion--an assumption that felt offensive and completely unfounded. I had no say in my treatment, which now involves lower doses that barely manage my pain, and I'm required to take drug tests at every appointment, which is invasive and demeaning. Not only am I forced to attend monthly appointments, but I also had to sign a contract forbidding me from taking any pain medication from other doctors. When I had a major surgery and took the pain medication prescribed by my surgeon, they warned me I'd "broken" the contract. Pain management in Kentucky has become downright oppressive. This isn't entirely the clinic's fault, but the overall process is undignified. However, the clinic's treatment of patients leaves much to be desired. In the waiting room, they show a video with the founding doctor describing how much he "cares" for patients and wants to help manage their pain. In reality, he's barely spoken five words to me in a decade. I only see him during mandatory procedures. Speaking of procedures, this clinic seems to push every experimental injection or treatment available. Refusing these options comes with the threat of losing your medication altogether. Procedures are rushed, cold, and mechanical--an assembly line where you're quickly prepped, sedated, treated, and then practically wheeled to your car. Other pain management clinics at least check on you, offer water, or ensure you're comfortable before leaving. Here, they're efficient but make you feel like nothing more than a box on a conveyor belt. Despite this, getting a prescription filled is a hassle. They provide only enough medication to last exactly 30 days, but when it's time for a refill, they're rarely ready. Physical dependency means going even a day without can lead to withdrawal symptoms and excruciating pain, yet they seem indifferent to this. If your medication requires preauthorization, good luck--it can take days while patients are left suffering. The clinic seems more focused on promoting new drugs and samples from the sales reps constantly in their office than ensuring patients' medications are ready on time. Communication is another nightmare. You can only reach them through a messaging system, where responses can take up to 48 hours. Calling is equally frustrating; staff curtly remind you of the 24-48 hour response time, which is unacceptable when you're in severe pain or experiencing issues after a procedure. Miss an appointment? It can take up to a month to reschedule, meaning weeks without pain management. This practice treats everyone with suspicion. Younger patients, especially, are assumed to be "drug seekers." I don't recommend this place, but there are few alternatives if you need even partial relief for a chronic condition. As a new patient, I waited weeks to get an appointment and waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes past my appointment time before being taken back to a room. I was not listened to and was prescribed a medication I explicitly stated I did not want as I react negatively to it. As a person with chronic pain that has tried for years to avoid pain management for this reason, it was extremely disheartening to have this experience. I do not recommend this office. read more

I wasn't sure if this place could be of help. The appointment was made over a month ago. As stated before I was a new patient. I filled out forms online. Was early to office was seen 20 min after my appointment schedule. Instead of telling me they couldn't help me, they questioned me with the MA and then NP. Their favorite question was if I had family members with drug problems. I bet all their family members have drug problems so they asked often. Finally they tell me they don't do this they don't do that. They can't manage my prescriptions because of this. Yet they sell cbd oil. The doctors created the opioid epidemic. I suffer from peripheral neuropathy that causes severe pain in my lower extremities. After having a spinal cord stimulator implanted, which provided no relief, then having it removed their use for me was over. I started having a lot of problems with the office staff. I was treated like a junkie by the office manager because I went to the ER after an injurious fall. After Dr. Dismore agreed to write a letter on my behalf for my disability hearing the manager sent me an invoice for $1800. All this was after I told the Dr. how I was treated by the office staff. They strung me along for 3 weeks before I could get someone to even schedule an appointment to see the Dr. to get the stimulator removed. When I explained that the Dr. would probably receive a subpoena to appear at the disability hearing, all of a sudden I tested positive for cocaine! Yep, that happened. (The Judge at the disability hearing had the test results before even I was notified.) Then they lowered my prescription and discharged me. Mind you, my pain didn't get lowered. That was an intentional action to cause physical pain on the part of CP&S. I'm 50 years old and I don't even drink. I wouldn't be on the pain meds if it wasn't a necessary part of life and prescribed by a physician. This isn't the end. IMO I certainly would find another pain management office. And to think someone took their own life because of the practice's actions. Pain is a serious part of some people's lives. You shouldn't use pain control as a means of behavior modification if you don't agree with the behavior. read more

I have received an injection with Dr. Young at Commonwealth Pain and Spine and was happy with his care and treatments so far but he wanted me to start wearing a back brace but one that was from his practice. I brace on 2/22/21 and wore it for 2 hours on Tuesday and on Wednesday and it caused even more pain than I was already having. I tried to contact the office on Wednesday 2/24/21 but no one returned my call so my insurance company said to return the brace which I tried to do on 2/25/21 and was refused by the office staff. I placed a call to the practice asking to speak to the provider but he has not returned my call and the only call I received was another staff member calling to say they could not take the brace back. They billed my insurance company $1500.00 for a brace that you can find online and at the local medical supply company for under $100 and they are trying to bill me over $388.00 for my 30%. This seems unfair and a little like fraud. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE BILLING PRACTICES FOR THIS GROUP AND DO NOT LET THEM TRY TO SELL YOU ANY DME PRODUCTS. I am having to take my issue any further with the insurance company and the insurance commissioner so save yourself the headaches. read more

This office is the most inefficient, poorly ran office I have ever come across in my life as a painter AND someone who works in an office setting. I had an appointment to "go over my MRI" and when I arrived, my doctor wasn't even there so they have to scramble to "find a doctor who is available" to look over it. I was NOT given a diagnosis-- I didn't even see a doctor. I was in the building for 11 minutes, including time to check in TO GO OVER AN MRI. And I was billed $80. All they care about is money. The get as many patients in as humanly possible a day and just crank them out like robots. Pain mnagament is WAY too important for that. The APRN I see has ZERO bedside manor and the office staff may even be worse. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

I saw Dr. J. Dismore at this practice for a cervical epidural injection. Initially, all staff encountered were pleasant, informative and helpful. Unfortunately, I did not have a very good reaction to the injection and more pain was created than helped. For 2 days I waited for the "side effects" to subside. Nothing improved. No medication combination was helping to ease the burning, awful nerve pain caused by their injection. One ER visit and two IV pain medications later, I was feeling some relief. I was instructed by ER to contact my pain mgt. office. The on-call, after hours nurse practitioner returned my call promptly (within a 1/2 hour). She was truly concerned about what I was experiencing and encouraged to call the office in the morning and on the next day and be seen by someone in the office. When I called on the 3rd day following the injection to be seen as instructed, I was dismissed early in the conversation because there was nothing more that could be done for me and coming in to see the dr. would be a waste of time. I was cut off, interrupted and hung-up on by Dr. Dismore's nurse. I'm fairly certain she is in the wrong line of work. I would NEVER recommend this office to anyone except maybe Dr. Dismore's nurse. read more

Dr. Young is great. But don't expect to ever get the treatment that you need. You just can't get in timely. The treatment that you should be able to get in two weeks it takes 3 months due to scheduling . How can you manage your pain if they can't manage your appointments. You can't ever get through to the telephone service. You call and can't get through because it's supposedly lunch time when it's clearly not. You're on hold for an hour. It's just absurd. When you go in for your appointment you see a practitioner. The practitioner never discusses anything with Doctor Young. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand does. It's the most disorganized group that I have ever had the displeasure of going to. I will be looking into another Pain Management Center because they're not doing anything for my arthritis and it I progressively gotten worse since I've been seeing them. First visit with MD was ok. Second visit with NP was awful. I was told I would never be out of pain. She refused to increase my pain medicine after being in moderate to severe pain for 2 weeks. I felt like I was being judged as a addict! I have been on my current dose for several years and anyone with any knowledge of pain management would know I had developed a tolerance to the current dose and would need more to relieve my pain. I am not an addict, just an individual in pain. I don't want a buzz, I want my pain to be bearable. Not everyone abuses pain meds and those of us who don't, pay the price for those who do. As a nurse, I was taught that pain was what the patient says it is and complaints of pain should be taken seriously and treated appropriately. There are guidelines for increasing pain med but this NP was unwilling to consider any increase in the dose if my pain meds and I am on not that high of a dose. She kept referring to doses she used in an acute care setting. Her experience was in ICU. There is a difference between acute and chronic pain and the management of each. I hope Jenna Dismore NP never has to experience my degree of pain, well maybe for a week to see what I and other individuals with chronic pain live with every day of our life. Where can a person with real pain issues go to be treated with respect and have their pain managed properly according to pain management guidelines???? read more

Very poor patient services!!!! They will discharge you over a difference of opinion with medication approval process through your insurance company. I would like to first say the office manager-"Rita"!!! Is very nasty and unprofessional after playing phone tag with this manager, i finally reach Rita just to get a nonchalant, condescending, abrasive attitude which i didn't understand. My assumption was she could review, reassure and resolve a minor issue as a simple prior authorization. I wasted time with this person, just to be told in as harsh nasty way, again "wasted time!!!" I'm being discharged over my behavior reaction for an untimely submit for a prior authorization for medication....how simple this could have been resolved but i guess Rita doesn't have the skill set or people skills to accomplish this simple task. The unprofessional part comes in after she have advised me of this, she follow up with Merry Christmas and "Hang the phone up on me!!!!". Dr.Young was my doctor, how could they condone such unwarranted remarks and process. There need to be a more systematic process to a discharge from a pain management clinic, not off a review from an overzealous so called manager named- Rita. Do not go here if you want prompt and effective pain management treatment. The biggest hang up is the office staff although the dr. was not very helpful either. They cannot communicate effectively with insurance and are not empathetic to the pain a patient is in. I was not involved with pain medication so I am not sure if this office prescribes it. I was referred here for a epidural cortisone shot due to intense pain and inability to walk. They first scheduled me 2 weeks out because of my insurance. I called my insurance and the insurance was ready to approve it with in 24 hours of the initial referral. For some reason the dr. office could not send the paperwork successfully to the insurance. It took me two days to meditate the communication and I was able to finally get it done. During the appointment I questioned the location of the lumbar shot as it was not in the location identified on the MRI. I was told it was more effective this way. It was not as I was still in the same pain for a week afterwards. I asked other drs that I saw, after I received the shot, about the location of the shot and each of them shook their heads in frustration of the inefficiency. The office staff does not return phone calls after the service. After my shot, I had a question about continuing a medication from another dr. and I could not get a return call for a week and half, even after I called again. The dr. will not help with work notes or anything like that so make an appointment with your internist or GP if you need something like and expect to be out for at least a month, maybe longer, if you are not persistent like me. I was supposed to have a second shot and the office did not send in the paperwork to the insurance after the last one so the day before I was supposed to receive the shot, I was asked to reschedule 10 days out. I asked to please expedite the process since it was their fault and I was told they don't do that when they had done that in order for me to get my first shot soon after the referral. I'm done. Beware! You will be there an hour but be lucky to see your doctor or nurse practitioner for five minutes. The pain review sheets the patient fills out is put in the recycle bin instead of in your records so your records only reflect what the doctor says. They type up your prescriptions days ahead of time so I guess that means no one's pain is getting better or worse. My doctor, Dr. James Jackson Jr. only saw me on my first appointment and bullied me. He never asked about my pain. I should have run then. Though I asked for a second consultation he refused me. He also cancelled my Trigger Point Injections because he was mad that I questioned my records. I suffered badly under this man's CARE? I have had two cervical fusion surgeries because of congenital narrowing that never helped my pain and I have Multiple Sclerosis. I was isolated and lived in a chair because of pain and Dr. Jackson did not care. I have found someone else and live a better quality of life now. read more

Worst experience I've had with a company. First appointment was fine. Did the MRI and scheduled a visit the following week. Dr Lewis skipped out on appointment that wedneday then would not return calls. This went on for 2 weeks and I found out he had went on vacation. I think he was too embarassed to return my calls, but I was in extreme pain. MY GP gave me another pain specialist, but he refused to see me as I was not released from these BOZOS!. I understand drug attics work the system, but I just wanted an injection to block the nerves not drugs. It was horrible- be careful here read more
