I'm very pleased so far: they're on time, prompt, thorough, and attentive. My cleaning was fantastic, one of the best I've had in years. Dr Ryan has done a great job with a filling and starting the work on a crown I needed: it's been pain-free, and all explained as I go along. And the front-of-office staff are super, too. They worked with me when I was changing my insurance coverage, and helped me maximize the benefit. They rang me a week after my temporary crown just to see how I was feeling (no discomfort at all, as it happens). And they'll give you vouchers for free parking at the Purdys Wharf parkade, too.

Dr. Thistle communicates what you need to know, Not read off the brochure stuff but what you really need to know. Then as icing on the cake they called a week after the appointment for a straightforward procedure to ask if everything was going well. I can't think of anything that would make this place better.

Ok, so it's not a perfect match to the molar.. but it's hilariously close. A beautiful scenic view throughout the whole office. Right on the basin, and plenty of windows to look through. A great staff of dental assistants and doctors to make anyone feel as comfortable as can be. TV's in the ceiling to help distract from the possible pain you may be enduring. My last visit was of the emergency variety. They were very accommodating of me, and worked to get me in. So I think the four stars after the 30 minutes of pain I suffered through.. should be a good indicator of how good this office is.

It's a family atmosphere, and the receptionists, dental technicians along with Dr. Arsenault, all take the time to get to know you and assist you whatever your needs may be. From ex-rays to cleanings, to retainers and referrals - I've run the gamut when it comes to dental services. Based on my personal experiences, I can easily recommend this office and its staff as a comfortable place to go and have your chompers looked after. They even have TVs in the ceiling, so if you're a nervous patient you can distract yourself with a program of your choosing!

The kids they look forward to seeing the fish, so much so that they seem to forget why they are there. Of course the TVs in the ceiling are a big help too. The entire Staff including Dr Mike are very friendly and seem to actually care about the patients. I have been there a lot with myself and the kids and have noticed that ALL the patients seem to be happy about being there which says a lot more than just my impressions. I have also witnessed some actions take place with the girls at the check-in/payment desk that certainly led me to believe that profits are not their only concern, it may not even be their main concern :-) Seriously though, Mike is great with the kids!! Ssoooo much better than their last dentist that it makes going there a joy. And you don't often get to say that about going to a dentist.

I know I scared Heather, my fab hygienist, the first time I went, telling her how much I hated teeth cleaning - worse than child birth or root canal. And I have to admit, she's made every visit painless. Dr Shore has all the latest technical tools to ensure that my experience (and everyone else's) is the best it can be - the state-of-the-art modelling software that creates awesome crowns is my personal favorite. No doubt about it. This is the best dental experience you'll ever have.

I explained that I left work in the city as soon as I could to make my 5:30 pm appointment but with traffic I would be 10 minutes late. I was told that I could not be seen. Not only was this frustrating and a waste of time and gas, but it was also disappointing that the clinic has changed. It was family focused and served the needs of the community (I used to even go trick or treating here) but now they can't even understand and tolerate that sometimes life makes you run 10 minutes late. Next available appointment is in 6 months. Wow. No thanks.

Over the past year, however, I have learned more about my dental health from other professionals. This made me realize how poorly Herring Cove Dental and Dr. Livingstone had assessed me. When I followed up to see what happened on my initial visit a year ago, Dr. Livingstone got defensive and said because she hadn't seen me throughout my life, she could only go by what she saw on her initial intake screen and assessment. Sounds fair enough, except that other professionals could only do the same, yet they asked more questions to make better assessments and talk with me about my dental history and current health. Very few professionals will be able to follow someone their whole lives- this should never be an excuse for not asking questions to make proper assessments. I'm just thankful I continued to do my own research and was able to self-refer to a specialist. The specialist identified some pretty obvious initial issues that had never been discussed with me by Dr. Livingstone. In fact, had it not been for my questions this past appointment, they still would not have been mentioned or addressed. Again initially, I really liked this location and had no complaints. I would have happily and confidently recommended them. But after what I have learned the past month, and in the disappointing response from Dr. Livingstone, I will be looking for a different dentist to support my care plan going forward.
