Ok, so it's not a perfect match to the molar.. but it's hilariously close. A beautiful scenic view throughout the whole office. Right on the basin, and plenty of windows to look through. A great staff of dental assistants and doctors to make anyone feel as comfortable as can be. TV's in the ceiling to help distract from the possible pain you may be enduring. My last visit was of the emergency variety. They were very accommodating of me, and worked to get me in. So I think the four stars after the 30 minutes of pain I suffered through.. should be a good indicator of how good this office is.

I'm very pleased so far: they're on time, prompt, thorough, and attentive. My cleaning was fantastic, one of the best I've had in years. Dr Ryan has done a great job with a filling and starting the work on a crown I needed: it's been pain-free, and all explained as I go along. And the front-of-office staff are super, too. They worked with me when I was changing my insurance coverage, and helped me maximize the benefit. They rang me a week after my temporary crown just to see how I was feeling (no discomfort at all, as it happens). And they'll give you vouchers for free parking at the Purdys Wharf parkade, too.

Over the past year, however, I have learned more about my dental health from other professionals. This made me realize how poorly Herring Cove Dental and Dr. Livingstone had assessed me. When I followed up to see what happened on my initial visit a year ago, Dr. Livingstone got defensive and said because she hadn't seen me throughout my life, she could only go by what she saw on her initial intake screen and assessment. Sounds fair enough, except that other professionals could only do the same, yet they asked more questions to make better assessments and talk with me about my dental history and current health. Very few professionals will be able to follow someone their whole lives- this should never be an excuse for not asking questions to make proper assessments. I'm just thankful I continued to do my own research and was able to self-refer to a specialist. The specialist identified some pretty obvious initial issues that had never been discussed with me by Dr. Livingstone. In fact, had it not been for my questions this past appointment, they still would not have been mentioned or addressed. Again initially, I really liked this location and had no complaints. I would have happily and confidently recommended them. But after what I have learned the past month, and in the disappointing response from Dr. Livingstone, I will be looking for a different dentist to support my care plan going forward.

I see Dr. Russell MacSween, and he is so great at putting me at ease. He is also so gentle you can hardly even tell he's checking your teeth. Dr Raj has been my dentist for over 10 years, I've been to 3 other dentists before him and he…read moreconducts himself effortlessly,checks on you at times during procedure.. and along with his assistant, you can sense that they are both very experienced and I feel a sense of confidence and trust.. I barely know that they are working in my mouth, I feel pretty relaxed. And I've never had any issues post-procedure. I've had my share of dental work done. They are also happy to fit you in on short notice or if you need something quickly checked on. He doesn't push services on you like some other dentists, with that being said, I will say that it is good to be in touch with your own mouth/teeth and bring up any concerns, because as I've mentioned he is a little more on the quiet side, and quite the opposite of other dentists in a sense that he is not tossing suggestions and procedures at you like other dentists seem to do, which is kind of nice.. because sometimes too much unnecessary work done in the mouth can lead to problems that were never there to begin with. Dr Raj is a happy medium I would say! I've had fillings, filling replacements and a two crowns, next up..a bite plate!
