My account was closed because I "didn't use it as often as they wanted" and my "daily balance was $20.00" per the fraud and recovery representative, Lydia Johnson. Johnson also disclosed that "there were multiple a names with different ss#'s attached to the notes in your account during that time period" which was one of the reasons we flagged your account, but would NOT provide further information on the denial. Ms Johnson asked "why do you want an DFCU account when there are so many other credit unions available? I was not sure how to answer her question, am I applying for a job? I recorded this for some odd reason, something led me to record this meeting to open an account. Ms. Johnson also discussed that this information was OLD, occurring back in 2009 but "it has been noted on the files we have on you." Ms Johnson demanded to know who I was currently banking with...is she gonna network with them to close that account too? They denied me an account and put me through an interrogation process. Ms Johnson also stated, IF you dispute and we open an account, we will just investigate it and close your account again based on Comerica Bank documentations. I feel a bit discriminated against.

And that's fine! Until she broke her arm, couldn't drive, and needed my help with errands. "I need to go to the bank. I guess I could walk there...." "No, mom. I'll take you." So that's how we ended up at this Chase branch today, in the drive thru. Back in my teen years, I regularly hit the drive thru and stuck my Gap paychecks into the vacuum sealed tubes to make my meager deposits, but it has been a long time since those days and I was intimated. Yes, my mom had to talk me through the process. And WOAH! It was kind fun? (HEY! we're in a pandemic, I don't get out much anymore). They have video now so you can see your clerk in real time and say hello. Wild! It was a super smooth process and very efficient. Friendly clerks and easy access via the side road off Michigan Ave and Canton Center.
