I came in as a healthy, young male for a pre-employment physical. Working in healthcare, I get physicals at least annually, among other tests and screens. She could have easily performed a cursory physical exam, asked me whether I could physically work, and signed my form. Instead, Dr. Velez provided a complete physical exam, obtained a full medical and surgical history, and screened me for a few health conditions based on my intake forms and family history. Needless to say, I was impressed with her approach this visit. Not only does she provide comprehensive care, she also knows how to build rapport. She entered the room with a friendly smile, used little medical jargon, which improves communication for many, and was very approachable. If I were to stay in Orlando, she would be my primary care physician! Velez Family Health is located in Dr. Phillips in an office building. It's not visible from the parking lot, but if you walk down the hall of the north building, you'll find this clinic on the first floor past the restrooms. The place is clean, and the front desk staff is affable. Want a doc who truly cares about your health? Come here!

There's no appointments but you can do the preregistration online to save time as well as view the wait times. There are 2 doctors I normally see, Dr Kelly and Dr Yi. Both are great. They spend time with you and go over your concerns. This last time I ran into a little trouble - apparently UHC does maintenance on Sundays, so they charge a flat rate of $50 because they can't run your insurance. I was told to call and they would rerun it and send whatever you were owed back to your card-- so don't get sick on Sunday's haha. The office staff is helpful if you have to call and get a follow up or refill a prescription. I know I need to get a PCP eventually, but it's nice knowing this place is right down the street when I need it.

My brother in law went in with severe abdominal pain, extremely high blood pressure and heart-rate, a fever and several other conditions that were obviously severe in nature. They sent him home within a few minutes of looking at him despite the severity of his symptoms. Within 24 hours, he was dead. The hospital was shocked and confused as to how appropriate medical attention was not taken a day earlier. Keep in mind he was very young (40) and in good shape-- it was determined he had experienced organ failure over several days which ultimately killer him. How a "urgent care" could be so shockingly obtuse is more than incompetence or negligent. It's genuinely evil. I will be telling everyone far and wide to avoid this location at all costs, if they had done their job he would still be alive. Horrifying.

I returned one month later to meet with Kylie again, and again I received my medication. No review or discussion of the amount of weight I had lost. I showed up for my third appointment on October 11th, paid my copay and waited about 10 minutes. I was called back by the nurse, and as I was about to step on the scale, I was told not to, that I didn't qualify for their program, and was told so last time I was there. I was not told this, and they looked at my chart to make my most recent appointment. I was flabbergasted that they were abandoning me right in the middle of my weight loss journey. I was embarrassed as I was escorted back out to the front desk to receive my refund for the copayment that I had just made. I felt like I was being punished for being successful with my weight loss.
