The Manlius Library has all the stuff you'd expect at a library, and a tremendously nice staff. The attached cafe is nice and unpretentious, and staffed by volunteers. You can access any resource from any of the public libraries in the county, http://www.onlib.org/ , and this makes a vast pool of materiels that are available for borrowing. Request what you want online, and it will be delivered to the branch of your choice, and an email will inform you that it is in!

This location takes advantage of being in an old Stickley building and the library rooms sprawl throughout the building and include a children's area, study rooms, public reading and work areas where they sometimes host events, and maker labs. They have a huge selection of books, music, and other media here. The whole children wing is a big hit for my toddler and I love watching her interact with the other kids here. I consider this my "home" library even though I'm not a Fayetteville resident. That should tell you something about how its patrons are treated!

This is a proper campus, and not modern at all, and the library is at the very heart of it. It's mainly for the college students, but perhaps because I come here with students (one former and one current), they've never given me any trouble. It's a great place to hang out and study if you like "that old smell" because it does have it. One of the better college libraries I've been inside.

Being right off Westcott Street, it's in a prime location; you can always swing by for a coffee at Recess or grab some takeout from one of the restaurants if you're hungry for something besides literature.

They have enough seats but I found it hard to focus on my studies since I could hear every single conversation going on in this library. It's parking lot is larger than the library itself and the Yelp directions led me to the back lot where only employees can park. I had to drive several blocks around to get to the front lot. The library is located in a residential neighborhood. They do not allow food. They had a section on Syracuse books and history. I was surprised to see how many books were actually in that section. There is a kids area as well.

To get in, you pick up a phone at the front door and get permission to enter. The quiet study lounge on the 3rd floor is only accessible to those with badge access. This library has 4 floors (if you include the basement floor, which I have not seen yet). The first floor has computers, puzzles you can play, and plenty of group desks. You are allowed to eat there as well. The 2nd floor has a lounge area that requires badge access. Parking can be tricky because this place is next door to a children's hospital where it is pretty busy. There is street parking but you're only allowed 2 hours of parking if it's before 6PM. The 3rd floor is a decent place to study because there are plenty of outlets, window seats and cubicle style desks with large countertops.

The first thing I like about this library is the system they have worked out to let you know how quiet a section is supposed to be. Anywhere from social, to silent, you'll see signs posted around the library letting you know the appropriate sound level. Cuts out the ambiguity. There is also ample space allotted for each. I will say that parts of the library is open to the public, given that Upstate is a SUNY school. I personally think it's great to have it available as a resource to the community. But keep in mind that not everyone is a student when leaving stuff laying around. The student computer lab has both Mac's and PCs. The Mac's in particular are new, 27 inch iMACs. Pretty nice if you want to watch lectures or if like me, you consistently have a thousand windows open at a time. The hours are one thing I think could be improved upon. Upstate is the first school I've gone to that doesn't have a dedicated 24 hour library space. It closes at midnight during the week, which suffices most of the time. But on the weekends, they don't open until ten. Fairly inconvenient. Anyway, of the libraries I've studied at, this one is pretty nice. Clean with a super helpful staff. Outside of the occasionally slow WiFi, I don't have any major complaints.

This review is more of a review based on aesthetic of the campus. I have not feeling either way of…read morethe university, I just wanted to see the architecture. I had no idea of how this campus was laid out so I just started walking until I did stumble upon a map of the campus. It was hard to follow as it had the buildings all labeled on the map, but there was no coordination when that correlated to the map key. I just wanted to walk around and take some pictures as it was a nice day and some of the buildings are beautiful. I walked from one end of the pedestrian walkway to the other, back towards where my hotel was. A little about Syracuse University. Established in 1870 as a private research university. Interesting fact, it started as a seminary outside of Rochester. After some financial difficulties they decided to move to Syracuse because that would give them a better chance at surviving. Other interesting things, it was found as coeducational and racially integrated. First university in the country to offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
