I had to come to the ER this am for severe vomiting and being unable to keep down water. Lori (charge nurse), and Dr. Michael Thompson took excellent care of me. I'm feeling much better, and am looking forward to being able to keep fluids down. They were very kind, caring, and supportive. It's not often I can say that an ER trip was very nice. I was at Community Medical Center at the Layfette office on 2/25/22 for a lab draw. I checked in with registration around 11am. At the time I was unaware that the business establishment still required masks to be worn. I entered without one. The 2 registration clerks rudely told me to put a mask on and promptly handed me a mask, to which I replied that I had a mask in my pocket. I took it out of my pocket, just after the clerk again rudely told me to put it on immediately to which I obliged. I put my mask on, completed checking in and proceeded to the Laboratory waiting area. There was no further discussion on masks. No confrontation and no refusal on my part. To my knowledge all was well. Today however, I received an email from my employer that a CMC employee submitted a complaint, stating that I refused to wear my mask. Not only did the employee that called, blatantly LIE she also went through my personal file to find out MY personal work information. I want to preface that to my knowledge all mask mandates had been lifted in the state of Colorado, so any mask requirement currently in place is related to the individual business policy/preference and NOT legally law or mandate. Additionally I would confidently request the office to pull up surveillance tapes in the lobby that show me wearing a mask with no objection. I strongly advice Community Medical Center to better inform their employees of what is and isn't acceptable in their profession. Starting with client confidentially and personal integrity. The employee clearly took unacceptable action for personal leverage, not based on honesty or fact. This is not only a breech in patient confidentiality it's additionally defamation of character and false accusation. I would greatly appreciate if a representative from human resources would contact me regarding this matter. Furthermore I don't recommend Community Medical center Lafayette for any health or wellness needs. read more

So I broke my foot doing Jiu JItsu. I talked to a friend who's a doctor and he said I should get an X-ray to rule out a serious displaced fracture or other complication. So I called around and the going rate for an x-ray in Boulder seems to be around $200. When I called Boulder Community Hospital's Urgent Care unit they refused to quote me a price over the phone. Which I thought was strange. However they also said they offer a 60% discount for people without insurance. So I assumed the price would be around the same as the other Urgent Care's in town and plus I would get the discount. So I drove out there. When I arrived I again asked the check-in lady about the price. And she again refused to quote me any number at all, saying it was in the doctors hands. She did say it was $160 per xray but that she didn't know how many xrays the doctor would order, and also didn't know how much the doctor would cost. So I waited 45 minutes and was then called by the administrator to get checked in. I again asked how much it would be. I explained I didn't have insurance and wanted to be mindful of how much I was spending. She said "We we're not out to gouge you" and "We offer a discount" but wouldn't say how much the visit and x-ray would be. She also told me probably a Nurse Practitioner would see me and charge "A small fee" and that I would also be charged for a radiologist to review the x-rays, but wouldn't give me the actual price of either. After I kept prodding, she said she would go ask the supervisor, but that they "Don't like telling people prices because sometimes they are wrong and people get mad". This sounded like BS to me but she seemed to think it was perfectly reasonable to offer a healthcare with a Mystery Price to Be Disclosed Later. At this point I was starting to feel like I was in a casino. About 2 minutes later she came back from talking to the supervisor and told me the X-ray would cost me $1300 minus a 60% discount for not having insurance. I told her that was more than double the other urgent care facilities in town and left. I drove to Boulder Urgent Care Medical Care and got an x-ray and doctor visit for $190. I don't know what Boulder Community Medical Center's deal is, but they are clearly ripping people off either through incompetence, inefficiency, ill intent or some combination of the three. Short version: late crew here for urgent care are scumbags. Two nights after I'd moved to Colorado, I came down with terrible chills and a fever. I decided not to see a doctor and went to bed for the night, but when my wife found me violently shaking a couple hours later she decided I really ought to see someone. It was late, and most urgent care centers were closed. Community Medical Center's urgent care was open until 11, though! We knew we probably wouldn't make it in until ~10:45, and wanted to make sure we'd still be seen -- we had four kids we'd have to drag out of bed for this -- so my wife called ahead. They kept her on the phone for 8 minutes and transferred us repeatedly before finally promising that if we showed up at all before 11:00 on the dot they would be willing to see us. We told them we would leave immediately, and we did. We arrived at 10:55. Doors were locked. We called, and the same people who had promised us we could be seen told us that, though it wasn't quite 11, the doctor was already packing up and there was nothing they could do. read more

While I believe the care I received was great the aftermath of paying my bill has been a nightmare. They do not work with you to pay your bill. AT ALL. You either pay all of it or they send you to collections and that company is ruthless. They added over $400 to my bill for court costs! At least the collections group takes payments. I've never been to urgent care before, but found myself dizzy, feeling like I was going to faint. My doctor was booked, but the office suggested I go to urgent care. I went in, was seen right away and put in a bed to wait. I got some IV fluids and while I was waiting the nurses were so nice and attentive -- offered a blanket, some snacks, very sweet. I was there for about three hours total and when I left I told the doctor that I still felt out of sorts, still a bit dizzy (though not as dizzy as I was when I arrived, but definitely not normal) and light-headed. The doctor told me pretty much that they were releasing me and if I got worse I could come back, they were open till midnight. I drove home groggy and light-headed. About a week later the dizziness got worse again and I begged my doctor to see me. The office squeezed me in and diagnosed me with an ear infection. "They looked in my ears and nose at urgent care, why didn't THEY diagnose me with an ear infection?" I asked my doctor. "Did you go to urgent care at Community?" she asked. Yup. Well. I went to Community because it's covered by my insurance. I wouldn't recommend them because though the nurses are nice, I spent over a week with continued dizziness and light-headedness that could have been treated with Sudafed and Flonase! AND Community billed my insurance company nearly $2000 for what amounted to two bags of IV fluids and a blood draw. If you have I choice, I wouldn't go here. read more

Unable to give you proper direction to the building for which they work (including any surrounding landmarks)..... clearly driving in from Outer parameters and unfamiliar with where they work or the surrounding areas of _SHAME!! MY APPOINTMENT was @ 10:45 (traveled in from Cali for it) The dits answering the call (same old gal) told me their office was full of patients.... when I walked in @ 10:46 Not a patient in her office..... NOT A ONE!! (guess they didn't anticipate my coming into the office) .... LIARS!! SHAME!!! Shame on Dr.Hall for her staff..... AGAIN, MAKES YA QUESTION THE PROFESSIONALISM. Thank goodness they are available. When your kid has an ear infection, strep, etc that keeps them up all night this place is like a miracle. We find the people friendly, check in process simple and doctors knowledgeable. When you can't wait for your regular doctor, this place works out great. They even mixed up the penicillin for her. I had to find a new doctor after changing jobs and got a new patient exam and the whole trip was awful. Here's why: They don't have any online presence for scheduling and patient tracking to review history. Because I mentioned that I had some foot pain from running and the doctor touched my feet they coded it as a non-preventative to increase their profits and count against my deductible. I asked for them to continue my previous prescription from my last insurance and they still have yet to send it to the pharmacy over a month later. They had to have me scan my insurance card at work because they forgot to when they had it in their possession the whole time while I was with the doctor. I have called to dispute the coding of my visit and that was a week ago without any word back. I can't believe it but I miss Kaiser's in and out efficiency. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Stay away from this facility. One of the doctors literally spoke to me in a baby voice. In another case, my husband needed to be seen for a concussion, and they refused to see him when we arrived 3 minutes late. Don't bother putting yourself at risk. This my was maiden voyage patronizing an Urgent Care facility, and I had a wonderful experience at BVCH Urgent Care. Every employee I dealt with was friendly, professional, and informative. I was treated very promptly and with compassion. I was counseled by an actual physician, he was very kind and actually took quite a bit of time for discussion. I negligently do not have a primary care doctor, nor do I have piles of gold ore, so this was such a convenient and affordable option for me. I learned that this facility has been operating for 30 years, but is now being shuttered and turned into a full scale ER. All of the dedicated employees have been laid off. The quiet peaceful surrounding residential neighborhood will be reverberating with the blare of ambulances and helicopters. No more access to quick affordable proficient healthcare for non-rich community members such as myself(hi there $200 ER copay). This is a tragedy. read more

With all of the choices available, this one would be LAST on my list. The staff is indifferent, the nurses rude, and the doctors un-knowledgeable. When I questioned the OTC medicine they were recommending for my 13 y.o., the nurse was unable to further explain the benefit. He seemed put out that I would want to be completely informed about the course of recommended care and sarcastically asked if I wanted to speak with the doctor further. I guess we are just supposed to do what they say and shut up? I'm not an idiot and I'm angered that they would treat me as such. Just explain! If you can't, then maybe this isn't a course of treatment that is in the best interest of my CHILD! I felt like the Dr. was throwing darts at a dart board as his method of diagnosis and as long as he didn't take out his prescription pad, he was A-Okay. As a side note, the doctor left a dirty paper towel on the counter and the return air vent in the patient care room was disgustingly filthy! That's the stuff I could see. What about the stuff I couldn't see??? Also, the 3 1/2 hour wait was ridiculous! "Well, it's just a busy night" is not a good enough explanation for me. Are businesses incapable of calling in reinforcements when wait times exceed a certain threshold? Is that a business decision that is really that difficult to understand? Go to Children's Hospital Urgent Care that is a short 10 minute drive away if you are looking for excellent patient care with knowledgeable doctors and caring staff and nurses (I'm sorry I thought it would save time by sticking closer to home). Go to Community Medical Center if you want to waste 3 1/2 hours of your life and leave sicker than when you walked in the doors. Even King Soopers' Little Clinic is better than this place. read more

Unfortunately, there is nothing about this place that is either urgent or caring. Brought my 9 year old in at 10am on a Saturday for a strep test. Only 1 person before us and it still took an hour to be seen. The nurse then jammed the swab into his throat. I've been part of a lot of cultures, but never seen one quite so violent. Waited another 1/2 hour for the results. The 'nurse practitioner' then came in and asked all of the questions we already answered again, did a bunch of assessments and THEN shared the fact that the strep test was positive. More waiting. I kept asking if they'd like the number for our pharmacy to call in the prescription. They said no. Another 1/2 later I'm handed a written prescription and told that I have to take it in myself. Save yourself the headache and go to CVS. This place is dreadful. read more

On a Sunday (of course!) my dad had an infection make itself known - it was right over his spine, and painful. We headed here and had an excellent experience. We were treated promptly by a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Not once were we treated like a burden for coming in on a Sunday, and the staff was flat out gregarious. To top it off, the facility was clean and well-maintained. While I hope never to need this service again, if the event arises that I need help I would not hesitate to return here. A+ read more

2 stars only because I'm grateful they were open at 8pm the Saturday night before Easter. I knew my daughter had strep, the nurse swabbed her throat and it took 1+ hours for the doctor to come tell us it was strep. Then he proceeded to tell me that she maybe should have her tonsils out. Huh?? I didn't like that he so quickly and lightly said this, especially in front of my 8 year old who felt terrible. It totally scared her. 2 hours after arriving we left with the meds we needed. The billing services for this establishment are a complete nightmare. They somehow manage to lose current insurance information, bill previous insurance companies, put down the wrong billing codes, always in their favor, ie: charging for a 30 minute visit when you are with the doctor for 10 minutes, tell you that you don't have a co-pay, then turn you over to collections. When you call collections collections, it turns out that collections doesn't have a record of your debt. Scenarios such as this have happened to us over and over again. The problem is getting worse. Our family, patients at this facility for over 18 years, due to problems like these over the past three years, will not entrust our health to this bureaucratic debacle. read more

1. Reception staff sit around gossiping, using profanity within earshot of children. 2. There is no patient privacy in the RN triage area. They expect you to talk about your health issues in the presence of a waiting room full of strangers. 3. Waited with my sick child for more than three hours. 4. Saw staff without gloves on, carrying tubes of blood, which were not in biohazard bags, walking through the waiting area to the lab. This has the potential of exposing us to disease. I have been billed $1626 to get three stitches in a knuckle, plus a tetanus shot. No x-ray, blood test etc required, just a simple, rather quick couple of stitches... Sent my bill to collections because of errant patient file info. I have been tho this clinic about 5 times since it opened, with varying patient care. I had a guy give me stitches and do a great job, but with billing and records it's always some issue. Most recently: I went in twice for the same sickness; same week. Somehow I received two bills a month apart under two separate account numbers for almost identical amounts - one for each visit; evidently they couldn't figure out that I'm the same person with the same cold and the same insurance. My wife only paid one, thinking they were duplicates so they sent the other to a collection agency. No mail follow up from BCMC. They said they had called and left messages, but I certainly never got a call or a message from them, in fact the number they had on file I've never heard of (not even close). No idea where they got the random phone number and I NEVER default on a bill. Now a big black mark on my credit score... Thanks, BCMC! Incidentally, if you have insurance, you can not pay at the time of your visit so you are thrust into the poorly-executed billing system. read more

My wife went to them with a mild allergic reaction to a bee sting. She got a pill to take immediately and a script for prednisone. No tests were run, the whole appointment took 10 minutes. The care was good, but we just got a bill for $3,600. Our insurance covered much of it, but we still had to pay $800. They didn't indicate anything about the cost during the visit. My wife and I are both doctors and I can safely say that I would recommend this place to no one. We took our 1 year old son her for a croupy cough to get a steroid shot. The doctor was incompetent. My wife had to provide the diagnosis, medication and dosage to him. She had to ask him to look in our son's ears. We were billed $1200 for a simple office visit that would have cost $120 in a normal outpatient clinic for the exact same services. Normally I would tell a patient to go to urgent care to save money over the emergency room, however in this care, its cheaper to go to the ER. You can get better services anywhere. There is no room for this useless and overpriced type of practice. This is just another reason everyone's health insurance premiums go up in our unsustainable healthcare system. read more

I go to the Lafayette Community Medical Center for bloodwork, suspected DVTs, broken toes, etc. They are fantastic. I just got from a visit and had three people pop in just to check on me while I waited for test results, I was offered blankets, a nurse came in to just chat about my knitting project I'd brought with, and the questions and instructions from the medical professionals are great. I feel good and cared for when I leave. read more

Been to Urgent Care 4 times over the past couple years and every time is an unbelievable lack of competence. Every time I go here they double bill my insurance company (nurse and DR separate) which doubles my out of pocket. You wait for 45 minutes with no lines in front of you to see a physician for 5 minutes that does nothing. I've had botched blood tests they billed me for when the on call nurse said if they couldn't get anything they wouldn't bill me. Just a horrible facility with shady practices. Stay away at all cost, convenient location means nothing with the amount you're going to have to deal with in billing after the fact. And they will not prescribe you anything to help you with your ailment. I don't know why I came back so many times hoping for a different outcome. read more

Family Medical Associates doctor Lee ordered an x-ray to be taken across the hall from her office. Boulder Community Hospital is now charging me $656 for the x-rays taken, United Healthcare discounted it to $402. Medicare cost for this service, by CPT code 73610, per AMA is $31.48. You can get the same level of care or better going somewhere else. There is a image provider in Louisville who charges $37 for the exact same service. Spoke to Boulder Community and Family Medical Associates billing department and managers, who said these charges are reasonable. Did not get results of x-ray for 3 days. read more

I needed to go in for some undiagnosed severe back pain. I was treated with kindness and most importantly, the PA and nurse expressed genuine empathy and validated my discomfort. Beware the $300 "facility fee" category that BCH has started adding to their bills. Especially note that insurance companies will pay for medical services, but do not cover fees of this category, so this fee will come out of YOUR pocket in addition to the usual co-pay and deductibles you may have. The back story is that, rather than attempting to reserve a banquet hall where one would expect a fee for use of the facility, my 5 year old son had cut his forehead open after rolling into the base of our piano. We got to our local urgent care just as they were closing, and they recommended that we go to BCH in Lafayette because of their great bedside manner with kids. We went there, and while the receptionist had as much personality as a dead fish, the medical attendants and the doctor were indeed wonderful with my son and got him all patched up. I have nothing but compliments for the medical staff, and nothing but negative opinions and language I won't post online for their billing policies. Despite many rounds of questioning and requests to eliminate the charges which have clearly been structured to sidestep the usual insurance coverage system, they would not back down. We have now paid $350 for what should have been a $50 visit, and my sincere hope is that nobody else gets stuck doing the same thing. My advice is - DO NOT set foot in the Boulder Community Hospital - Community Medical Center on South Boulder Road in Lafayette, CO. read more

I'm terrified of hospitals and have not had many good experiences at the Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder or with Western medicine in general, but this hospital was wonderful. From the minute I walked in the door, I was greeted warmly, and treated with the utmost respect and care, despite the fact that I do not have insurance and could not pay for services at the time of my visit. Every person in scrubs that walked past me in the emergency room smiled at me and most cracked jokes, and a few people came by to see if there was anything they could do for me; they brought magazines and water and offered to call my ride for me. As an added bonus, the waiting room was empty, and there was only one other person in the emergency room with me; they are also part of the CICP (Colorado Indigent Care Program) for those of us who have had trouble affording medical care. I'm so grateful to know I have such a nice hospital with wonderful caring staff nearby. read more
