Our toddler at the time was very shy, so her approach of play-based speech therapy was the ideal fit for a shy kiddo. He looked forward to sessions and didn't realize it was "work", but instead saw it as a fun activity where he was able to play with a variety of toys with an energetic playmate. I don't see how Mandy has the energy to play with the little ones all day, but she does--and really seems to enjoy it. The play/session environment is comfortable, welcoming, clean, and has a toy store's worth of different toys (and Mandy is always trying out new ones for the repertoire). Mandy immediately identified a structural issue that a previous formal evaluation from another speech therapist missed. Our child progressed wonderfully and is now outgoing, able to express himself clearly and with a range of vocabulary and sentence structures, and is doing advanced language and verbal work at school. My son has been in and out of various…read morespeech pathologist's offices since he was 4, and I could never hear or see a measurable difference in his speech until we found Mandy. The difference in a year with her is greater by far than the difference in 5 years with everyone else combined. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with her. She is incredibly effective as a speech pathologist, and the results are really clear. Even more than that, she is flexible, patient, adaptive and works with my son rather than at him. Her humor shines through steadily, and she is very kind, and my son can sense that and relaxes with her. She has specific, targeted exercises and games she goes through with him - he has only begun to figure out that the games are work - and gives us home practice in such a way that he knows what he needs to be doing and how to do it. My son can be a handful - so she works in movement breaks and tunes the games to his interests and approaches it with humor that makes him feel welcome. She gives prizes after so many stickers earned - set at a reasonable, attainable pace - and I noticed that, having figured out my son liked puzzles and stuffed animals, that the prizes being offered have quietly become things he enjoys. He vibrates for the opportunity to win them. Even the games have become quietly tuned to his needs and preferences; I've never seen so many games of Memory played. My son invented his own version of Go Fish with the articulation cards, and she went so far as to write down the rules so they could play it again. Seriously, she is *amazing*. As a note: my son went from throwing tantrums at the very idea of speech to cheerfully practicing at home and happily showing up to his speech therapy. Because she praises him for his effort and his progress and specifically what he is doing right, he can aim for that specific thing again and *believes her* when she tells him he's working and she can tell. I cannot tell you what a difference that has made. Most importantly, my son went, in less than a year, from being unintelligible unless someone had known him for years, to being a confident, talkative, outgoing kid with a lot to say. A few months in with Mandy, I stopped having to 'translate' for him. Months ago, he suddenly started talking non stop, because he could be understood and heard and participate. Before that, he only spoke that much with me, and he chose the most efficient script to short hand what he wanted to communicate, as speaking was tedious and hard work and he might have to repeat himself five times. Now, he is speaking happily and with assurance with his friends and with his teachers, and does not hesitate to step up and speak when called upon to do so. Mandy has made SUCH a difference in his life, and I am forever grateful. She is worth every penny and moment of time. I highly recommend her; you won't find a better speech pathologist.

We immediately replied with all the requested information, and since then we have not heard a thing from them. It has been more than a week now and we have followed up three times in email, and we still heard nothing back! No one in their intake department cares to even give a quick reply or anything. When we lived in San Francisco, my son had no words at 24 months and I tried multiple therapists before settling down with a really amazing one (Jodi at Spencer & Kong). Unfortunately we had to move only 6 months into his therapy, and luckily I found Jullian Luks at National Speech. Jillian has the best upbeat and happy energy, funny with good sense of humor, nurturing and sweet, and always professional. She is amazing at what she does, even with my shy and reticent son. The other therapists there also appear to be very good, and all the parents I've spoken to in the waiting room are very pleased with their experience there. My son now no longer needs therapy, and everyone is surprised when they find that he needed it. As for the negative review about the front desk, it's true, the young man at the front desk is not proactive about greeting anyone, but he is also a little awkward and soft spoken - not rude or snobby. The waiting room and front desk is also pretty busy - lots of families and therapists coming in and out. And everyone is different, but for me, I don't care if the front desk admin didn't greet me or look me in the eye - it's all about the quality of therapy that my kid is getting, and at National Speech, it was the best.

My son has been a client at ABC Kids for almost two years now and we cannot praise them enough. My…read moreson was practically nonverbal and Marni has patiently & diligently worked with him, and he's developed by leaps and bounds. Marni was one of the few PROMPT trained therapists in the area and the back office at ABC kids has always been efficient and professional (they do all the insurance paperwork and bill you for the deductible, they have even been helpful in keeping me up to date on how many more sessions were left in the year per our insurance allotment). We have seen other therapists at the practice in the past, and all are skilled and great with kids. When COVID hit, they didn't skip a beat and we switched to virtual. Marni went above and beyond finding new games to play virtually with our young son to keep him engaged (she went so far as to put up a green screen in her own home!). Once things calmed a bit (a full year later), we started back in person and they have been excellent at Covid protocols (therapists are vaccinated and wear masks and/or shields, they stagger appointments so we don't cross paths with others, temperature checks, and hand sanitizer galore- I noticed the other day Marni sanitized her hands before and after touching my son's face to help him form a sound). We cannot recommend ABC Kids enough! They have been instrumental in the development of our sweet boy.

I waited three weeks for a response and was told Brooke no longer works here. I was told that I would need to be seen by another clinician for an evaluation. I was offered an appointment for early December. However, I never received a confirmation or telehealth link for that appointment. When I contacted the office on 11/30 to inquire about the logistics for the appointment, it would no longer work. I was offered another appointment on January 5. Again, I received no confirmation and no telehealth link. I emailed and called the office on January 5 and have yet to receive communication from them. Needless to say, my January 5 appointment did not happen. So, what should have been a simple refresher session has turned into three months of me trying to secure an appointment. Additionally, all communication has been via email since no one ever answers the office phone or returns calls. I am very disappointed in my current experience with this office. It should not be this much of a process to get an appointment, particularly as an established patient. I am not sure what has happened in the past year, but things clearly went downhill quickly. If you have other options for providers, you should pursue them first. Update: It's is now 1/16 and I have heard nothing from the office about the fact that they blew off my appointment. No response to my emails or voice mails. So, they clearly are not concerned about their patients.
