Do not allow your loved one to use this Hospice. I was required to use the star rating, but I…read moredidn't want to even leave 1 star. My grandmother used this Hospice for 1 benefit period. They were terrible! Hospice is supposed to keep their patient's comfortable and pain free. Not this Hospice. My grandmother has a Glioblastoma that took up roughly 50% of her brain. Glioblastomas are very aggressive tumors. She was constantly complaining of being in pain, and on top of that, when she wasn't complaining of pain, anyone with medical knowledge could tell by looking at her that she was. Her hospice nurse did NOTHING to change her pain medications. They spent roughly 5 minutes with her each visit and by State guidelines they are required to spend a minimum of 30 minutes with each patient. I know this because I work for hospice as well. After getting crappy care for a month my family and I decided to transfer her to a different hospice. Transferring a patient from one hospice to another allows the patient to continue within the same benefit period, under Medicare. With Medicare, patients are given 2 benefit periods lasting 90 days. If a patient transfers they stay in the benefit period that they are in. Compassus DISCHARGED my grandmother, forcing her to give up one of her benefits and placing her in her second benefit period. Not only did they discharge her, but they were non-compliant with the hospice that we placed her with. NO ONE SHOULD EVER USE THIS HOSPICE! They are a joke and need to be shut down! A bit of advice to all that are unaware, YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHATEVER HOSPICE YOU WANT AND YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO TRANSFER AT ANY TIME YOU WANT. If you want the best care for your loved one, DO NOT use this Hospice!

My father was moved to here, Bethany House, just before he died. The facility was beautiful and…read morefelt like home. There is even individual porches outside the rooms that look out on to a pond. The staff treats everyone like a family member. This was an amazing experience that showed me their is still people in this world that care for others.

This will be long but a worthwhile read if you are contemplating using this company for something…read moreso precious as end of life Hospice care for your family member. The company does NOT care about you as a patient or a family member of a patient, you are just a number that they have to meet monthly and government $ to them. The ONLY ones who care are the hard working nurses and nurse assistants. In our case, Melissa and Tameka should be commended for the work they did. This has nothing to do with them but everything to do with the rest of the company from the director, to the marketer, and everyone in between that I dealt with. Everything else was a flat out lie and pure disrespect from the company. I was originally approached by a marketing woman at Southerncare, who after spending an hour on the phone talking and over 50 texts, had promised me that we would receive 24/7 sitters at home free of charge due to their various free programs they can use. We decided to bring my father home from his 1 month stay in the hospital as he would need that care. The sitters never arrived. When I asked where they were, there was no response. The social worker later admitted that the marketer had said those things but didn't know what she was talking about. She told us where we could go to get these sitters, at a cost of approx $20,000 a month. I then asked to speak to the director 3 separate occasions on this manner, and she would never answer or return my call. I believe her name is Annette. They ducked every time I would attempt to bring this up as to why I was signing a contract under false pretenses just hoping it would go away. So we sucked it up and stayed up all night with my Dad most nights until he finally passed. The nurse came in, did her job after that and that was ALL. It's now been 12 days since his passing and not ONCE has the company reached out for any bereavement counseling, pastoral outreach, or any "after the event" care.......which was also part of the contract that I signed. Let me also add that it took TEN days for the doctor (who we never saw anyways) to take 5 seconds to sign their name to a death certificate so we could get our financial/legal life in order. I had the funeral home call Southerncare 3 separate times to get this done and they just stalled and stalled. In closing, I would highly recommend NOT using this company. They will bait you into signing a contract with them by promising the world and delivering NONE of what they promise. HONESTLY they should be ashamed to offer bereavement counseling and having a pastor help, and then not deliver on it. We've been left high and dry for 12 days now and I've waited for a while to write this review with a clear mind and not anger. I fully expect them to come on here to rebuke this, and say everything I'm saying is wrong, but I have all the proof on my phone. If you look at their only other review on google at the time of my review, it just happens to be from the marketer who signed me up. Just think about that for a minute...
