Our mother took a precipitous drop in her health two weeks ago. We contacted the HCA office as one of the providers we would consider for her hospice care. When we met with Alyse to both interview her and get a feel for how the organization does business, we were unanimous that HCA was the care provider we wanted for our mother. The office and in person experience was excellent. As to communication and care, I cannot say enough about the professionalism, compassion and consideration of both Alyse and our caregiver, Melissa. In the midst of a very difficult time and circumstance, they both elevated the level beyond the expectations of our family. Sadly, our mother died shortly after care was provided, but it was gratifying to have stellar care during her last days. Thank you so much for helping us and lovingly serving our mother. My grandpa stayed here for maybe around 10 days. The first 2 days were terrible for us... He let us…read moreknow he was in pain and when we asked for pain meds the guy said they didn't have any and that they'd be there in 10 minutes. After 30 min we asked again and he said the same thing. 3 hours later we finally got the pain medicine. By then it was terrible watching my grandpa in that amount of pain having to suffer for 3 hours. The rest of the week went much better. The staff (besides that one guy) made sure he was comfortable. The woman who sat next to him with us when he passed away was so sweet and so kind. I wish I had caught her name.

My mother was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and declined surgery and other treatments. At…read more89, she decided she was ready to go. When the hospital discharged her, Richardson Community Hospice was willing to take her in. Shortly after arrival, however, they determined that she did not qualify for hospice care. We started looking at other options. They never pressured us to get her out quickly. Mom did not want to go to a nursing home, so we explored at home care. I made arrangements to come out from Connecticut to be part of her care team. By the time I got there on a Thursday night, Mom had definitely qualified for hospice care. She passed away Sunday morning with my sister and I holding her hands. I am so glad Mom was able to spend her last few weeks in a beautiful facility with wonderful caring staff. They were a big help after she passed as well, making phone calls and arrangements for us.

The dispensation of pain medication and doctors at hand were limited, the essential care of my mother was secondary at best. I had to request several times for water and sanitary products which were not promptly delivered. Staff is not always at hand, and when confronted a handful of temporary nurses, different nurses, were of different opinions and excuses. This was not a dignified nor respectful way to see to the end of life of a family member. If at all possible I would suggest elsewhere for the cost.
