The mechanic was so moody and rude to us so we left. we went to another one on 22nd. It was different experience with them because they willing write the note and check everything out. After diagnosis, it was a top end issue Due to finances, I put another 52k on it before replacing the engine with new, not rebuilt. When the tech pulled out the original motor, he found major top end issues. 2 cylinders with low (not 0) compression, one cam lobe had a nasty score on it, but it still ran like a champ on the highway for the last 52k. Kudos to Ford/Mazda for a bullet proof V6. When I finally had time to get it to Maurice's, Denin gave me 2 estimates. The new engine was almost $3,000.00 LESS than a rebuilt. No brainer. New engine comes with 3 year, 100,000k warranty. Rudy did a fantastic job on the swap, even did a couple extra minor repairs. ( I thought I had a clutch problem, but just a pilot bearing.) I've taken both our vehicles to Maurice's Auto Care since I found him. I have known him personally for over 40 years and his shop's work is beyond reproach. It cost us over $1,450 to get it fixed. We picked it up and the gas tank was bone dry and barely made it to a gas station a block away there. We thought they might have had to drain the gas tank to put in a fuel pump. We called them and they said our truck had no gas in it when they got it. What a lie. We followed the tow truck there. They even added $25 to our bill for gas they claimed they put in. If the problem was no gas they would have told us that and not say it was diagnosed as a fuel pump! What a scam. Do not go there.
