He is strict but he doesn't mess around. His workout are intense but if it doesn't challenge you it is not changing you. I went to a Kung Fu competition this year for the first time and all of his students are amazing and outstanding. He is the real deal Chinese Kung Fu Master. If you ever get to train with him, it is a blessing. If you are out his way, you won't regret going to any of his class and he works well training with the kids. In the end, it is sad to see him leave us in Chicago, we wish him the best because the best is what he is.

I recently planned a scavenger hunt for my daughter's birthday party and was thinking a mini martial arts class may be fun. However, when I looked at their website I noticed they had virtual reality, which I knew would be an even bigger hit among the 3rd grade girls. I set up a virtual reality station w/ Richard for the scav hunt and it was the highlight (among many other amazing activities). There were 3 different stations for the kids to choose from including a roller coaster for the bravest of the kids. I did it myself and it truly feels like you're on a real roller coaster. Richard went out of his way to make sure the kids had fun and even brought in a DJ to make it extra fun. So many of the kids mentioned to me they had no idea Temple of Kung Fu was even in the mall and can't wait to go back. Virtual reality and martial arts are just a few of the things Richard/Kung Fu offers so definitely encourage you to check it out!

I like that I can take their Tai Chi classes, the two arts go well together. They give the first class for free and have a deal for the first month. It was helpful to know if the school was right for me. It has been a year, and I highly recommend them. No contracts, good people with skills, and a great teaching method.

The coach was excellent - he provided great instruction and...just to really drive the point home the instructor even rolled with me and demonstrated the techniques he taught in class by applying them to (on?) me! That was a great way to see/experience the lesson in action. All-in-all everyone was super nice, no one tried to smash me down because from a different place, but everyone still gave me a good roll and I had a great experience!! Chris Lund is really laid back and there are no formalities here, which make it really easy to ask him for help with techniques or questions about how to do moves. Actually you can walk up to anyone for help and they'll be more than happy to do so. The quality of instruction you receive here is amazing. I am a science teacher at a local High School and even I have to admit the instruction/organization of the classes at Ohana are the best. The classes don't feel like a canned lesson and Chris likes to point out the finer details that I feel other places didn't spend time covering. Also while you're practicing, Chris will spend time with most everyone pointing out these details or answering questions. Another great thing is that you also spend time drilling what you've learned in class which reinforces what you've learned. I also really like that the adult class sizes stay small around 20-30 students from white to brown and mostly blue and purple belts who are all very friendly and humble. Check your ego at the door is the sign you'll see as soon as you walk in. Both the instructor and students pride themselves on their hospitality, and the camaraderie can be seen as you first walk in. If you are a beginner to the sport or an experienced grappler this is the place to take your game to the next level. Also, Ohana hosts a great seminar 2x a year with BJ Penn's BJJ coach Renato Verissimo. "Ohana" is not just a catchy name but more so a true representation of their philosophy and teaching. There is no need to feel pressured or intimated; your first class is free! I've been training at the school for over 2 years and still can't wait to attend class each week. BJJ itself is an outstanding martial art for self-defense, physical fitness, and overall wellness/confidence. The school also offers an excellent curriculum for kids. I urge anyone that is curious or considering BJJ to stop into the school to watch a class or jump in to try it for themselves.

Though I was too young and immature between the ages of 3 - 14 years old to notice, I can see now the lasting effect that this school had on me. As I was strengthening my physical body, I was nourishing mentally. Through every kick, I was gaining patience and discipline. With every punch, I became more confident and driven. I could write a book about all the things that I learned between the ages of 3-14 years old while I was training with US Elite Martial Arts. But to give you a short version, Master Greer reminded me that one's voice and the ability to ignore is more powerful than any kick or fist. Every time he made me spar with someone bigger or older than me, he was training me to accept a loss and a "no" and grow and learn from it. With every passing year, I grew more patient and more hardworking. My ability to read and understand others stemmed farther than anticipating my opponent's next kick. I began to organize and manage my time more efficiently, leaving room to get good grades, spend time with friends and family, play other sports, and train here at US Elite. It's crazy to think about how pivotal being taught these things at a young age was for my growth. When one is that young, they learn the most from their environment, and I am truly grateful every single day that this was the one I was apart of. Not only was I learning and excelling in martial arts, but I was also pushing and developing into a disciplined, self-confident, and motivated individual whose communication skills, respect, and kindness were pillars of their being before the age of 12. Master Greer and the team carved out a path for me to truly understand myself. They showed me that I am in control of my own life and that I can't go around pointing fingers at other people because I am not where I want to be.
