As a parent, it is so powerful for my son to hear these messages from Sensei. My son carries this joy and focus with him to school and into our home. We have been attending MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) for a year in the 4 to 7 year old class. I love being on the bleachers in the dojo to watch the class and hear the mat chat. This helps us reinforce the message at home and also practice the moves of the month. It is very easy to get acclimated to class. Sensei Alex is kind and has a genuine passion. There are also a number of "Sensei Dads" that take the adult class and help out with the kids class. They are all such lovely people! Everyone has a smile and is excited to be in the dojo training. The energy is contagious and the kids have a lot of fun while also learning discipline, confidence and focus. We are so grateful to be part of the Victory family!

Angie, the owner, is so high energy and brings so many positive vibes to each class - think Poppy from Trolls - I highly recommend taking her Monday morning class! The best part about Blue Sky is that everyone becomes a part of your extended family in such a short period of time. I love being a member here!! The only downfall is that there is only air conditioning in the yoga room, so I often found myself skipping kickboxing classes when the temperature crept towards the 80's and 90's, because I have no wish to faint during an exercise class. I tried kickboxing, hot yoga, warm yoga, and I brought my husband and daughter in for a trial class as well. Bottled water and snacks are offered for a voluntary donation. Free small towels, use of mats & props, and free hot tea as you leave. Lexi Wynn yoga bags, yoga accessories and jewelry by local artists are also for sale. I've been in a rut at my gym so I checked out Blue Sky to see if mixing things up might get me motivated again. I tried & loved the kickboxing class because you are actually kicking and punching a bag. There is nothing as satisfying as finally getting to your workout and finding that your jab/uppercut has some oomph to it! Angie, the owner, teaches both kickboxing and yoga, and I've appreciated the sense of community she is trying to build both by being a resident of L'ville and business owner but also in taking the time to get to know her clients (by name) and connecting clients to the community. This month she was taking donations of gently used and new bras to donate to The Haven. Next month will be donations of non-perishable food items for the food banks (and free Friday Happy Hour yoga with a food donation!). She also offers some fusion classes, and family classes that would be great for parents with younger children. Prices are very competitive. And, a little secret. You can share a multi-class pass with family members! I actually had no intention of sharing my pass with my daughter and husband, but what a deal! My only fear? Though I was too young and immature between the ages of 3 - 14 years old to notice, I can see now the lasting effect that this school had on me. As I was strengthening my physical body, I was nourishing mentally. Through every kick, I was gaining patience and discipline. With every punch, I became more confident and driven. I could write a book about all the things that I learned between the ages of 3-14 years old while I was training with US Elite Martial Arts. But to give you a short version, Master Greer reminded me that one's voice and the ability to ignore is more powerful than any kick or fist. Every time he made me spar with someone bigger or older than me, he was training me to accept a loss and a "no" and grow and learn from it. With every passing year, I grew more patient and more hardworking. My ability to read and understand others stemmed farther than anticipating my opponent's next kick. I began to organize and manage my time more efficiently, leaving room to get good grades, spend time with friends and family, play other sports, and train here at US Elite. It's crazy to think about how pivotal being taught these things at a young age was for my growth. When one is that young, they learn the most from their environment, and I am truly grateful every single day that this was the one I was apart of. Not only was I learning and excelling in martial arts, but I was also pushing and developing into a disciplined, self-confident, and motivated individual whose communication skills, respect, and kindness were pillars of their being before the age of 12. Master Greer and the team carved out a path for me to truly understand myself. They showed me that I am in control of my own life and that I can't go around pointing fingers at other people because I am not where I want to be. I was here with my 5 year old son for a birthday party. It's not terrible, but it is considerably…read moresmaller and less tidy than International Gymnastics in Mt. Prospect. Located in a office court off of West Lake Ave., this is a former factory converted into a gym. The conversion is not quite complete in my opinion. There is a kids fun gym and another, larger and more sophisticated, gym with advanced equipment. We were in the smaller gym and it looks rough around the edges. (see photos) Still, it was fun for the kids. They accommodated a group of thirty 5 & 6 year olds and managed the group very well, God bless their souls. I found it somewhat disturbing when we received a birthday invitation from the place and it had a waiver sheet folded and tucked into the pre-printed invite card from Dreams.The waiver, which had to be signed by a parent and witnessed by a gym employee, had a lengthy list of various and increasingly gruesome potential injuries possible, ranging from simple bruises to torn muscles, fractures and paralysis. Strange we did not have guests need to sign one for a party at International Gymnastics. Seeing the potential dangers and risks, I was tempted to send in my fearless Stunt Baby to substitute for my older son at the party, but my 5 year old handled it just fine. There were two instructors who had the kids do warmups and run a basic obstacle course, followed by extensive play in their sponge cube pit. They also had a Tumble Track trampoline next to the pit for the more adventurous jumpers. The instructors (Nicki and Vicki) did a great job keeping track of the kids and making sure they played safely. At the same time, the gym leaves a lot to be desired. The sides of the sponge pit are not padded like at International Gymnastics. Columns in the gym are crudely padded with folded mats wrapped in duct tape. The truck bay doors are covered in large sheets of clear plastic. There are stacks of insulation panels piled up on the sides above the party rooms. The condition of the padded floor, carpeting, mats, and the sponge cubes even, shows a significant amount of wear. The party room itself was a bit crowded but fit 30 kids at a series of long tables. A second party room down the hall allows them to have one party after another while alternating rooms. Therefore, we were not rushed to get out promptly at the designated end time. Certainly a good time but as a family we're sticking with International Gymnastics for classes and parties in the future.
