My…read morehusband and I had a very rare night away together and the photo of the deluxe king room at the Quorn Country Hotel looked lovely on booking.com so I booked the room for the 22nd February and chose to pay upon arrival. Once I had paid we were directed to our room and were bitterly disappointed to see that the room was grossly misrepresented on the website. There were no curtains, no seating area, no hot drink making facilities, the window sills were filthy, flaked paint from the ceiling on the carpet, the pillows were so overused they were flat, the shower curtain was stained brown around the bottom and the shower hooks were rusty. The toilet was virtually impossible to flush. The list goes on. Not only was the room nowhere near worth £100, it shouldn't even be available for a paying guest. We took our cases down to reception and very calmly and politely informed the staff that we couldn't stay in a room of that standard. The gentleman on reception apologised several times and informed us that he would start the refund process and it could take up to 7 days. So 3 months later after chasing the hotel, booking.com and Talash Hotels (who apparantly own the Quorn Country Hotel) we still have no refund. Talash Hotels totally ignore any communication from us AND the hotel and booking.com don't want to know. So now we are starting legal proceedings to obtain the refund that we were told on several occasions by the hotel (by emails and verbally) that we would be receiving. All they had to do was the right thing and just give us our money back. I can only give the worst review of this hotel and the dishonest people who own it and warn potential customers to go further down the road and book into the Quorn Grange Hotel instead, which is what we had to do. Funnily enough the staff there seemed to already know how below standard the Quorn Country Hotel is.

The grounds around the hotel are superb with very posh gardens and a lake at the bottom of them. They hold many functions such as wedding receptions for which I have been to 2. The quality of these functions are superb and highly recommended to all. The drinks are expensive as you would expect but it has a big car park out the back and the rooms are very posh inside.

This Premier Inn is located 2 miles south of Lincoln, on the edge of the village of Canwick. We…read morestayed there in part because they have a free on-site car park, whereas the one in the centre of Lincoln doesn't. We stayed in a Premier Plus room, which comes with free Wifi, USB charging points, and slightly nicer decor (they have been refurbished recently). They are also located in a quieter part of the hotel. We found it to be clean, very comfortable, and I liked having a bath as well as a shower. The rooms have excellent sound proofing - we didn't hear any traffic noise from the adjacent main roads. The rooms come with an ironing board, iron, and hair dryer, plus extra pillows if you need them. The only we had is that the heating/air-conditioning fan was a little too noisy to use throughout the night. Not a problem for us in March, but in the summer it might be irritating. The other issue is that there's no lift, so if you have a lot of luggage a ground floor room might be better. Breakfast is served in the adjacent Beefeater restaurant. This was okay, but the cooked items were a little dried out on the hot plates: putting out less to match turnover might have been better. But the choice was fine, both of continental and cooked items. Staff were very friendly, and helped out when we'd muddled up the wifi codes (you get two codes if you are staying for two days, and each code is valid for 3 devices, but this wasn't completely clear on the meail, which you get once you have checked in). The hotel is just across the road from the entrance to the International Bomber Command memorial and visitor attraction. It's a 5 minute walk (they charge for parking, so worth thinking about). Overall, we had a very good stay and would return.

A typical Premier Inn, with a Table Table restaurant attached where breakfast is served if you have booked B&B and other meals can be had. Rooms are a standard layout from what I've experienced. Great, comfortable double bed, with two types of pillows and a duvet, rather than sheets. A TV with freeview is in the room, as well as mini kettle with tea and coffee. Bathroom is immaculate, cleaning is great here. For any single female travellers, there are some nice touches which I have not experienced before. Location of room is considered for you and also on check in, staff will hand you your room key/card but your room number is written on a card, rather than announced to all and sundry in reception for security reasons. Breakfast is fine - continental options available (£5.95) or full breakfast (£8.95) which includes full, continential, the works. I like how I can choose what my breakfast will consist of so as I'm gluten free the continential option is lousy for me but I can take a cooked breakfast and eat as much bacon as I want. Dinner at TableTable - paid separately is fine. It's not fine dining but pub food and staff are able to advise me what options I can have and prices are good so its all good :-)

Believe me, because of business I stayed here for over six months. One thing that Jason will not do is cook to a price,all ingredients are fresh so expct to pay a reasonable cost for this. Perhaps Qypers from some parts of the country will still think the prices cheap but you will be surprised by the standards. So if it's business or pleasure (they do have a Four Poster) that takes you this way then book in and rest awhile in comfort, but do book ahead as they do get full both in the restaurant and in the hotel.

The hotel itself is a sprawling, rather plain modern brick structure, surrounded by a large car park (a plus is the plentiful parking). The interior is similarly rather unmemorable, with a very small reception area, but a decent bar and several function rooms. My bedroom, in the far wing, was very spacious, and clean, but could have done with some pictures to liven it up. The bathroom was ok - clean, with a bath and shower, and nice complimentary shampoo, shower gel and soap, though the shower temperature control was very stiff to operate. There seemed to be endlessly plentiful hot water. The room had tea and coffee making facilities, TV and a hair dryer. The main downers were inconveniently placed sockets and an awful bed: a generous mattress topper couldn't disguise the fact that the mattress had a big dip in it and really needs replacing. (Those staying in the ground-floor rooms with level access, however, reported very good orthopaedic mattresses.) Bar and room service were good, and the buffet breakfast was also good, though the breakfast room can get crowded. The best feature was the very friendly and professional staff: some more targeted investment would improve things no end. Prices on the web are pretty reasonable so it would be ok for an overnight stay if you just wanted somewhere clean and quiet to stay.

Food in the restaurant is of acceptable quality although the staff like to pretend it's posher than it really is. There is no hotel parking but the Lace Market public parking is maybe 4 minutes walk away and if you get your ticket stamped by the hotel the price you pay is about 40% of the public rate!! Our room was super spacious and clean, nice view and right next door to St Mary's church and the National Justice Museum. All the staff were friendly and helpful but with "Covid masks" it was sometimes sad to not interact as much we would have liked. Breakfast was included in our room - a spacious restaurant with myriad choices (Continental) and a plethora of hot choices including the "Full English Breakfast" of course. We were swiftly greeted by Restaurant Manager Kieron who talked us through the Menu. The new offering boasts 'Bread & Olives' 'To Begin' 'To Share' 'From the Grill' and 'Classics' options, giving the Menu more of high end Bistro feel. We began with Summer dishes that easily exceeded expectation. The simple description of Sea Trout, Beetroot Fennel & Grapefruit was enough to tempt us, our other choice being the Scallop, broad bean gazpacho, goats curd & olive dish. Both starters were simple and elegant with a well thought out balance of texture and taste. The gazpacho was perfectly seasoned which is extremely difficult to execute (trust me I've tried and failed enough times!) Paired with a Malborough Pinot Gris it was as if summer had finally arrived in style. Again, the Main courses offer a huge variety with new flow to the menu, allowing the guest to decide on sharing, plated, or classics with Head Chef Ben Chaplin and Sous Chef Terry Hayfields take on 'nostalgic homely classics' which I felt was a lovely touch. I opted for the Entrecote, Sarladaise Potato & Cabis served medium rare. The flavour was immense, so simple but again a balanced flavoursome dish. Our other main was the Whole Baby Poussin, Balsamic Roast Peach with Roquet & Parmesan Salad which again highlighted the art of simplicity in Summer cooking. To finish, we shared the Banana Parfait, Burnt Toffee & Pineapple and the Jasmine Creme Brulee with Almond Tuille. A delightful way to finish a meal that well and truly sees high end Bistro dining back on the map in Nottingham. It is time for Nottingham to re-engage with Merchants Restaurant. It is clear that the team have thought long and hard about the direction in which they intend to travel. Looking for somewhere to stay on the cheap(ish) in Loughborough, I scanned a few travel sites and…read morecame across Ramada. For about £50 per night, it's a pretty decent value. You could get cheaper just down the road at Travelodge, but a few mates of mine stayed there and said it was quite noisy at night and they were woken up...not me, in my surprisingly comfy bed at Ramada. It isn't that impressive from the front, and the views aren't anything to shout about, but what would you expect from a small town like Loughborough anyways? The staff were very friendly and receptive. My wake-up call seemed to vary a few minutes here and there depending on the morning, but it wasn't a big issue. They also offer breakfast if you want to pay a bit extra for it, but if not there are plenty of places nearby to grab a bite of eat for just a couple quid. Located right in the middle of the city, I was able to walk everywhere from Ramada. I was at a conference at the far end of the uni, so that was about a 2-mile trek, but that's not so bad. If you're more of a bus person, the hotel is just next to the bus stop as well. It's kept clean and tidy. You can tell the construction is a bit of an older-style, due to the plethora of stairs scattered randomly throughout the building (I walked up and down 4 or 5 small sets of stairs to get to my room), but if it's really that much of an inconvenience for you I'm sure you could request an easily accessible room. Doesn't take that much effort, though. I don't know if I'll ever be returning to Loughborough, but if need takes me back I know I'll be staying at the Ramada.

The buffet breakfast was good, the usual Continental fare and full English, with hot tea and coffee. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a flat screen TV. Bed was really comfy and I especially liked the Elemis toiletries. Our room looked over Old Market Square. Efficient and friendly service, and very welcoming. Good value would stay again.

The staff are really friendly which is just lovely and makes the atmosphere really personable. I have to say the icing on the cake of this hotel was the breakfast! It left a lot to be desired in terms of cooked English but the continental spread was just amazing. I really enjoyed it. The only downer for me was that being in the City Centre it was quite loud. Would definately stay again though :)
