Stoped there to have a Mac fixed and he charged me 35 dollars to basically get a quote in fixing. I understand small business needs but it seemed a little high to do nothing but quote the issue. I love these guys....they're friendly, fast and very helpful...I've taken my broken computer there twice and both times they were wonderful. They work on the computers there, -- they don't ship them somewhere else to be worked on by God-knows who (which is what the Geek Squad does). I spilled iced tea on my MacBook Pro. My Apple warranty is up as I've had my MacBook for over a year. Apple wanted to charge $1240 to replace everything inside regardless of whether each part was damaged or not. I called several other computer repair shops, including Apple specific ones, and they were all afraid to even open the machine and look at it. Computer Medix saved me over half of Apple's repair cost by promptly diagnosing the problem, tearing the entire machine apart, cleaning everything, and removing, cleaning and soldering the infected pieces back onto the logic board. I'm highly impressed with the level of service here! The only turnoff was that one of the technicians inappropriately shared his negative perspective of Apple products. I purchased overnight shipping for $26.99 on Thursday in the early afternoon, as well as paying $5.99 for a power jack that was $0.99 on eBay. I charged my customer an additional $30 to get the item in the next day. The item did not arrive until the following Tuesday, and I had to refund my customer the cost of the item (I normally include power jacks in the cost of the work anyway, but only at $1 or $2!). I wound up making very little money on the job, having to disassemble the laptop and solder on a new power jack, having an unhappy customer, and Computer Medix said they'd been busy and refused to refund the cost of shipping. I have used Computer Medix many times in the past several years - they fixed a gaming computer that was on last legs, making it good as new, rescue me when an obscure monitor cable on an HP laptop quit installing one new for less than the cable went used on eBay and recently set yup a perfect Lenovo ThinkPad. Aside from great prices and rapid service, these guys are unique in that they are very honest about what you need and what you don't need, as often talking you out of doing something or explaining how something can be done better cheaper.
