Worst place I have ever been to. He didn't even attempt to reassure my dog nor me that what he just did was fine, there was no discussion beforehand that this was what he was going to do to my dog. Pain meds were not offered either, just simply be on your way. He's an incredibly cold and unwelcoming person, and the lack of care and informed consent is appalling. They don't tend to offer pain meds nor antibiotics for after surgery either, at least none was offered when my dog initially had the tube put in. No care instructions were given at pick up either, we had to call back to make sure what to do. And when the edge of the tube in his ear started cutting into him only then did they finally give us something for him, but they didn't do anything to prevent it from continuing to cut into him. In fact the vet originally just brushed it off as being the drainage hole when it clearly wasn't. I had to take my dog to a different vet clinic shortly after the tube got ripped out to make sure he was going to actually be okay. And the vet there agreed it shouldn't have been handled like this. And unlike this clinic they constantly reassured my dog the entire time while they looked at his ear, making sure he was comfortable and cared for properly. Which because of how he was handled here, he was very nervous about people around his ear now when he never was before. They also gave us pain meds unlike here. This isn't even that much of an ask, this is standard care. Which thank you Vetco total care in Blue springs for actually caring about the animals they're trusted with. If you value your dogs comfort and health, don't go here. Even if they solve the initial problem they'll just end up making things worse and do nothing to fix it. If you have concerns they brush you off.

Nice Staff both front and back! Dr seems nice! Clean, great location, nice large waiting room.read more

They not only explain the "what" (aka diagnosis), but also the "why." Sadie can be skittish of men, but she has grown particularly partial to Dr. Fray. That speaks volumes to me. Vet technician, Megan is very attentive, listened to everything I said and reiterated to the vet well. When there was a miscommunication, they were helpful to fix the situation. I truly feel they treat Sadie just as they would their own family fur-member.

They are accompanied with a very friendly and amazing staff at the establishment. I know you won't be disappointed with the whole business because as soon as you walk in your getting the whole friendly and welcoming environment and you will not regret taking your fur babies there. This shelter is literally located in the middle of nowhere. I'd be careful driving up to their…read moregates, seeing as most of it is dirt road with rocks. Once you're there, the parking is limited to about six cars. A soda machine sits outside, probably collecting dust since I never saw it in use. Inside of the shelter, it smells like wet dog and urine. Very poorly kept, especially the smaller dogs and cats in the front. Most of the time, I saw them walking around in their own feces, sometimes even dried poop on their fur. I went to this shelter several times, in my attempt to find the perfect companion to take home. Eventually I found a 5 month old Australian Cattle Dog Mix. Their procedure before giving you the dog is to have them fixed. I was there the day that my newly adopted puppy, Midnite, was loaded into a crammed minivan and driven off to Sedalia, MO. I questioned the veterinarian about the hygienic state of the dogs before surgery and she explained that it didn't affect the area of the operation. I even asked if I could give her a bath outside of the kennel, just so she could be clean before the operation and they did not let me. I got her in two days and took her home. I immediately took her to the vet to get checked and had her treated for fleas. She was infested in the pests and the area of her operation was inflamed and healing improperly. Days later, Midnite's suture wasn't healing and becoming infected. Also, mind you, during this time I could NOT give her a bath and seeing as she had had a flea treatment and was covered in dry feces; she was in horrible condition (because of the lack of care at the Animal Shelter). A couple of weeks went by and Midnite's wound was still not healing, even though I had treatments given by the vet and tried everything possible to make things better for her. Eventually it closed up enough (even though still infected) for me to give her the bath that she needed so desperately. To make a long story short...due to the poor condition Midnite was kept in the shelter, the lack of animal maintenence and their lack of care and compassion for the animals; Midnite passed away from an infection in her blood caused by the spaying. Warrensburg Animal Shelter IS a KILL SHELTER, and they DO NOT care for their dogs properly. They don't have enough space to accommodate the number of dogs they receive, and usually the place is crammed and full. While I believe in saving animals from shelters, I don't believe in having the dogs/cats spayed and/or neutered without having them bathed. I believe that's one of the reasons that Midnite isn't around today...

The staff seemed friendly and my dog was clean, as were the other dogs, when we saw him and picked him up. The shelter staff gave me the impression that he was neutered off site, but that may be incorrect as they never specifically stated. There were no issues in his healing either. The shelter staff seemed to genuinely care about the animals. I only have one complaint, the feed and recommend Science Diet and give a sample bag with adoption. I have NEVER had a dog whose stomach agrees with this food including my dear little Ruger who I adopted from them. I know that at this time, the shelter is a LIMITED kill shelter, that often uses transfers or rescues to prevent putting animal down. Also be advised that adoption fees have increased to $65 recently, to cover costs. All in all remember that this is a place that houses many animals that are very scared. It is going to smell badly, even if all they do all day is clean the kennels. They seem to do a good job every time I have been in, and they really do want to see these creatures go to good homes.

The shot helped for a few days or so. I refilled this a few times hoping it was only the 7 day supply wasn't enough as he wasn't getting any better. I took him back after a month or so and he said it wasn't inflammation it was allergies. It was $120 for an allergy shot and he would need it monthly. After no improvement in a a couple weeks I called Pleasant Hill and made an appointment. They took and X-RAY for $80 or so and found that he has a mass growing in his chest as well as another in his abdomin. He has to be put down. Although the Vet in Holden couldn't have saved him it could have saved me about $400 I could have used for cremation and saved my dog a few months of pain! I dropped off this information with my phone number and haven't gotten a response from DR. BLUM. At minimum a refund would help make it right! I wouldn't recommend him for anything past vaccinations, nail trims and the occasional flea bath.
