This is the place to go for adult gag gifts. Frankly, the selection is frightening. Anybody that needs outrageous toys and extravagantly flavored lubricants to enjoy sex---these people need to take a few lessons on the basics, I think, because sex is already plenty fun, even without glow in the dark condoms. I think some folks are overdoing it. It's also a great people watching location. I'd say the majority of patrons to this South Street gift store are just normal people, like you and me, who were intrigued by the name and concept of the store. Back when I was in high school, Condom Kingdom used to be a small, back-alley type of adult store on South Street. Unsavory characters used to dart furtively into and out of the establishment, and my friends and I used to go inside to check out their merchandise, more as a secret rebellion against our Catholic schooling than anything else, and we usually left giggling and a little in shock. Nowadays, however, Condom Kingdom has changed locations to a larger storefront on South Street, and it is now like a mini sex toy Disneyland inside, complete with waterfall. It's brightly lit, stocked full of condoms of all shapes, sizes, and colors, and carries any and all products one might dream of buying for a bachelor or bachelorette party, from dildos to edible underwear. No longer do the patrons need to be embarrassed about going there, and, as far as I know, the "back room" of videos no longer exists. It's like a glitzier, more sex-focused version of Spencer's, and I always have a lot of fun checking out their merchandise. I usually don't buy anything because their products are too cheesy, but it's still fun to browse. And I still leave giggling with my friends, even though we aren't teenagers anymore. read more

A quintessential Philadelphia novelty. This store is usually full of giggling teens and leering older couples. The staff does not seem to take the place that seriously and neither should you. There are some tacky joke items as well as standard condoms, lube, toys, etc. If you're in the market for some high quality items, you should look elsewhere because CK is notoriously overpriced. I started coming here as a freshman in college- it was almost a part of initiation into "getting to know Philly." We'd take a tour of South Street, and make a very important stop at this special place. I still like to browse around, and get a kick out of the sperm paper cut-outs that "travel" around the top border of the room. I don't think I ever bought anything here, but it is good for amusement. There is a decent selection of toys and other such things, but I find that it's most fun to bring friends here and marvel at the huge dildos for a few min before heading out. Meh. This place feels like a gritty basement. When you walk in there are 3 barrels filled with penis suckers that appear to have been there as long as the carpet on the floor. In the back is a selection of DVD's pretty cheap too, 5.99 each I think. Remember you get what you pay for, as I recently purchased a DVD only to discover it was a bunch of clips all from different years (some from the 80's) pasted together. Not good. This is the worse customer service I have ever experienced. We drove 45 minutes to get to The Mood only to find out that they merged with Condom Kingdom. We called a total of 3 times tonight notifying them that we were on our way, and non of the calls mentioned that the locations switched. We arrived and had a hard time finding the new location and called for help and explained our situation, driving out of our way to get here and asked them out of consideration to leave the store open just 5-10 more minutes for us to get what we need. They responded very insincerely and refused to and said that they have been open all day. They are closing exactly at 10:30 despite that we went out of our way and basically wasted 2 hours of our time. Drove into the city for nothing, thanks a lot. We won't be coming back, this place will never get our business now and we don't recommend anyone coming here. You're better off shopping online. read more

The staff are really helpful, but the teenagers that frequent the store make it almost intolerable. They also don't have any classy sex toys ($80 +). Very pricey, and obviously everything has been touched by everyone, so I'm not sure I'd buy anything that sensitive.
