What a wonderful yoga studio! This review is for people new to town, because anyone who's been…read morearound for a bit knows how great this place is. You couldn't ask for a cooler, more central location in downtown Bloomington, and the front has a fun gift shop, so, stop in for that if you're curious! I attended a yoga nidra class here around new year's and Carmen was an amazing teacher that talked us through a guided meditation and body scan. I walked away feeling very calm and peaceful, but there are a number of other types of yoga classes offered. Can't wait to be back! Thank you, Main Street Yoga!

The studio provides mats, blankets, and blocks for no additional charge. I've never been to such a such a generous studio! The three class trial is an awesome deal, just make sure to use it within the specified time. My favorite class has been Saturday morning moderate yoga taught by Tonya. She has a way with words and will truly get your weekend off to the right start. This class is taught at the Washington Street studio, which had a lot of natural light. Another perk is that the farmers market is right outside when class is over! If you have not ever practiced yoga, I urge you to check out the gentle classes. There are all ages and activity levels at the class, so no need to be shy. Get thee to yoga!

So many hugs. So much excitement. And if you're me, many tears to be shed as well. There are many ways that people of all ages can volunteer their time here. So many opportunities that could fit every personality or temperament. You can help run events, officiate games, keep scores, be a "shuffler" -helping move participants along, help judge, hand out awards, or even just be a cheerleader with hugs, high fives, and fist bumps. -the participants love those! I used to volunteer for things like this because I felt I should "give back" since my life has been so blessed. But in time, I've come to realize that I should help with events such as this because I have much to learn from these participants. With insurmountable personal trials and limitations, they often show such generous spirit and love for every person they cross paths with. They both encourage their opponents and high five the ones who beat them. They more often than not happily accept their 5th place ribbon and wear them with pride. After congratulating an athlete after he won the gold in one of the field events, I commented to him that he was so lucky to have a gold and that I'd never won one before. He embraced me warmly and then said "That's okay! Do you know why? You don't need gold to be happy." Profoundly said. No, indeed you do not need gold (or riches) to be happy. PS: Be sure to bring sunglasses to hide your crying eyes. YOU try keeping a dry eye when you place a medal around a gleeful 10 yr old's neck with the Olympic theme song booming and her proud family beaming on the sidelines!!
