I'm completely comfortable with my two year old climbing here unassisted. There are two sets of swings. The sandbox always has a few sand toys and is shaded with a large overhead tarp in the summer. There are also plenty of picnic tables and benches. There is a basketball court which is often also used for kids to scooter around. My favorite thing about this park is the abundance of trees providing shade on hot days. This playground is more forgiving in the heat than most other playgrounds in the area.

By a little past 3pm this place was already very crowded. Joggers, walkers, strollers and dogs were all over the walking trails. The playground was mobbed. Though it was unseasonably warm for early March, there were only two people on the basketball courts, no one on the tennis courts, and no one on the ballfields. But parking lots were full with playground- and trail-goers. I have to say these trails are pretty fun, and the playground is pretty bomb. So I fully understand why so many people were hanging there! The trail meanders around the perimeter of the park, with pretty Chester County landscape views. It is somewhat curvy and hilly, so if you want straight and flat, look elsewhere. My friends' dogs had a ball. My son, too, had a blast on the playground! He loved the swings and the sand pit. I can't get him into sand at the actual beach, but he loves sand pits. This one is very large and has cool backhoe type ride-on devices for the kids to operate to shovel and dig. There were also two huge sand funnel stations, and a bunch of standard beach toys lying around. The sand was clean of debris, not even a fallen leaf, which was very cool, and impressive for this time of year. There are a number of playstructures, with all kinds of fun apparatuses. Slides, swings, climbing walls, net climbs, puzzles on the walls of the clubhouse niches, merry-go-round, (for lack of a known name) gyrating stand-on devices, and the cup seat that does a 360. Also, a metal web swing, bouncy rides, and the pièce de résistance, a magnificent flying saucer attached to a friggin' zipline!!! IDK how this got approved because it is potentially dangerous, but man, this is the coolest thing ever! The kids were in line constantly to ride it, and you could tell who is there every day practicing because some were masters at making that thing zip back and forth. They had about 45' of line to travel, and a ramp from which to launch. So awesome! My only playground complaint is that it's not fenced in, but otherwise this is an amazing place! Parents were all attentive, courteous, and looking out for one another's kids. One group ordered like 6 pizzas to be delivered to the playground pavilion, where they had a picnic dinner. Very fun!

Lorimer was a regular destination for me when I was a kid and had to go everywhere my mom went…read more Only a few minutes from our house, we used to take our dog Reggie here to stretch, swim and frolic. Now I'm older and dogless (for now), but thank goodness, the nature preserve is still just as it was. The wide trails circle around and through an 80-acre piece of land that's otherwise dense with trees, bushes and plenty of assorted undergrowth. The only downside was how close the park bordered with nearby houses, as a few times I found myself accidentally wandering into people's backyards. This preserve is perfect for doggies, and a beautiful, relaxing place for humans, too. And best of all, there's a good chance you'll have the place to yourself.

This walking trail is right in the rear of the hotel and is built on the former railroad trax. Besides finding out there are some cool birds nesting on the trees along the main walking trail I found out there's a side path, that strays off the main trail that most people don't wander off to and probably don't even know about. And so there's a really cool pond with an amazing fountain like water sprouting out as you can see in my photos. This is a must see!

I had seen signs for the Paoli Battlefield many times as I drove nearby. Finally, I had an…read moreopportunity to explore. It was worth it. The Paoli Battlefield was the site of the Paoli Massacre of 1777. After losing the Battle of the Brandywine, General Washington and his rebel army retreated to protect Philadelphia from the British advance. He left a contingent of soldiers under General Anthony Wayne hidden, they thought. These trips were to disrupt supply lines. Unfortunately, the British learned of this group. They attacked in the dark of night, killing 53 soldiers. One British officer died. His remains along with the dead officers are buried at nearby St Peter's Church of the Great Valley (see my review). The battlefield is now owned by the Borough of Malvern and maintained by them. There are plaques describing the events and a cell phone tour, which was very interesting. My only reason for a star deduction was the condition of some of the plaques, their laminate surfaces so damaged that they were very difficult to read. It's a beautiful, haunting place.

Intro to Rock Climbing with Valley to Summit on September 18, 2022…read more This was my second trip to Chickies Rock with VTS and it was wonderful! There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! I highly recommend Valley to Summit, this being my 3 rd trip with them. They Rock!

Absolutely amazing professional guides!!…read more I hired this company to guide me through the winters treacherous water fall trails of Ricketts Glen that is normally closed off for hikers that don't have the explicitly specific required safety gear for winter hikes which this company provides. The guides were patient and helpful with the small group in getting gear on and going over all the safety equipment. They were never impatient with anyone and insanely kind. You could tell the guides truly enjoyed bringing everyone out to this amazing trail at Ricketts Glen State Park. I wasn't sure what to expect but OMG it was worth the money spent to have these guys/gals guide me through the trails. I took tons of pictures and was never rushed at all while taking in the views and photos. This company comes highly recommended amongst the hiking community even out of state.

Okay, that was a horrible thing to say, in all seriousness I would never be mean to homeless folks and people down on their luck, and you shouldn't either. The sad reality is that there is quite a few homeless in this tiny park at any given time, but to be fair they don't bother anyone, they lay on the grass and chill. And that's because Cleveland Square IS a good park to chill! There's lots of benches to sit around and people watch before Chihuahuas games or other nearby events, and the grass itself is pretty inviting! They have a lights festival here during the holidays which is nice and festive.
