This is one of the oldest places in Rio. Not the original but with a great view of Copacabana. The food was just ok. It wasn't great. Also lukewarm. If you're going for the view, you're all set. Maybe their breakfast is better? We had the beef stroganoff and the pot roast. Both were average. The appetizer was the only highlight of our visit. We ordered croquettes. Delicious. Service is good. I think they rely on being a touristy place with a great view so they don't try very hard. Would I go back? Only for the view. I'd like to try its original location and see if it's any better.

Def will return. It's inside of the Fort Copacabana, with both indoor and outdoor seatings, looking out to the famous beach. It's a 93 degrees day and we're very comfortable by the water, with a strong Atlantic Ocean breeze. The Fort charges a nominal fee to get in and they don't take credit card. When we asked if USD would do, the guard kindly let us in. Thank you. (Again, we're going to survive on credit card here.) Service is really good but slow, which is fine. The food, oh my, Huge portion and they taste good. We've Salmon and pasta salad - look at the size! The green rice is well cooked and yummy (a little saggy tho). I also tried their yogurt, which is yummy too.

This unit is extremely well located and privileged by the view of the Copacabana waterfront. Colonial coffee for two people was extremely well served with a variety of items that would easily feed 3 people. The service is a little slow, the waiters didn't seem very attentive to our requests, but this gave us freedom to appreciate the people who stood up there close to the fortress.

Poor imitation of the original. Food that should have been hot was cold (we were told that it was made to order). Bread was stale. Go to the original one if you want the Colombo experience. Comida fria - supostamente feito na hora mas veio frio. O creme estava até duro! Melhor ir na Colombo original para comida boa. Decepção aqui neste local.

Scenic view of beautiful Rio de Janeiro!

This place gets 5. Stars for its gorgeous view, but one star for the service and food. The hostess was not that friendly, and the bathrooms were not clean; they were hot and smelly. The food was very poor. It was nothing special at all! You'd be better off going to a grocery store and feeding yourself. I do not recommend this place at all! I'd go to Manuel Joaquim in Copacabana. Much better place.

A Brasilien friend told me to have breakfast there. We went on a Monday and found out that the place was closed on Mondays. I went again the next day and it was just so spectacular!! the views are to die for, we had the perfect table outside, the last table at the end. We had cafe con leche and also penne and smoked salmon sandwich. It was delicious. The service was good which I was not expecting to since the tables are so far from the actual restaurant/kitchen. This will definitely be a spot that I will go back!!! So glad my friend told me about it. The good thing is you can just keep walking after breakfast or lunch and if it's late lunch like we did, we just walked to Arpoadqr and catch the sunset!

You can watch the paddle boarders (SUP) try and surf!

Well this place definitely lived up to the hype. If you want a filling breakfast with tons of carbs this is the place. They have set meals which include a plethora of breads, cheeses, meats, coffee, butter, jam and biscuits. They also have plenty of a la carte options so you can build your own breakfast. The variety of cafe is great and I would recommend the signature Colombo cappuccino, fancy and topped with whipped cream (chantilly). Be warned, come with a empty stomach and if you're there on a Sunday morning be prepared to wait. It tools is nearly 2 hours to get a table for 4 people at 10am on a Sunday. They give you a buzzer that reaches most areas in the fort, so you can walk around while you wait. Note that the soldiers don't allow people to sit in the outer retaining wall so look for benches if you need to rest your feet. You really can't beat the views from Copacabana Forte and make you sure you take a walk around the fort since you have to pay for it just to get to the restaurant itself.

I had already been to Colombo in Centro, but this was a whole different experience! Here, you can enjoy your lunch/coffee/pastry/all of the above while sitting out on the very end of Copacabana Beach, with the entire beach stretched out in front of you. This is about as good as it gets for atmosphere! They have a large menu, ranging from breakfast type foods to sandwiches and snacks. I got a salad, and I have to say it was one of the best salads I have found in Rio! Where this place really shines, however, is the desserts. Confeitaria Colombo is known for it's pastries, and this location has a huge selection of them. Whether you go for an eclair, a tart, a cheesecake, or any of the other millions of options, you will surely be happy! It's best to go during a weekday if you can manage. On the weekends you may end up waiting more than two hours for a table. To get to this restaurant, you must buy an admission ticket to the fort (R$6), but that's really OK, because you can explore the fort and the museum as well! Vale a pena ir!

The wait time was very short -- only about five minutes -- but it was a Wednesday and not a holiday, so I imagine weekends can get much busier. I'd definitely recommend arriving early or making a reservation if you plan to visit on a Saturday or Sunday. The food was excellent. We ordered the Pesto e Burrata, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. We also tried the Picadinho Tapajós, and it was one of the highlights: the beans were perfectly cooked, the farofa mix was amazing, and it came with a beautifully prepared egg and fried banana. Such a comforting and authentic Brazilian combination that I'm sure everyone will enjoy. For drinks, the strawberry caipirinha was spot on -- refreshing and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The passion fruit caipirinha also tasted great, although it could have had just a touch more sugar. We also tried the Limoncello Spritz, which wasn't really our favorite, but it may appeal to a different taste. The real star of this place is the view. It's absolutely impeccable -- honestly, there are very few places in Rio (or even in the world) with a setting this beautiful. Having lunch with a direct view of Sugarloaf Mountain feels priceless. Prices were a bit above average, but considering the location, atmosphere, and unforgettable scenery, it was 100% worth it. Highly recommend!

The service was great, but of course we are only English speaking. So be patient because just like everywhere else in Rio, barely anyone speaks English. This can be very frustrating but you have to realize it is not their fault. Most higher educated speak somewhat English, waiters etc rarely do. The ambience was really mellow, kid and pet friendly. Milena was amazing, super patient and sweet and really tried her best to help us. Google translate is your friend here!

The dining space consists of a small indoors and a decent sized outdoors patio. My waitress was not exceptionally friendly when I tried to order in Portugese and when I asked for clarification in English she didn't try to help. The Completo meal itself was very massive and came in several installments. They started off with the drinks, freshly squeezed orange juice and a cafe con leiche (basically a latte), both were delicious but came too early. Next came the scrambled eggs which were consumable on its own but was rather bland and no salt nor pepper were available on the table. They then brought out the cold cuts, cheese and jam without the bread basket for several minutes so I sat there thinking if I should just start eating each individually and cut my losses. However, when the bread basket came, oh was it glorious!! As mentioned in my picture, it included several cut sourdoughs, plain bread and whole wheat, as well as a fresh butter croissant and a few pão de quiejos. They were all warm to the touch and crispy, which makes me think (or at least hope) they were made semi fresh. The jam, cheese and cold cuts they provided were plentiful to create several sweet and/or savory mini sandwiches to devour. I loved this basket and emptied it promptly; it was the highlight of my meal and definitely not to be missed when visiting. I had recently travelled to Portugal so I had to try this cafe's pasteis de nata and boy did it resemble the freshly baked Pasteis de Belem in Lisboa. Like the bread basket, it was warm and crispy. Would HIGHLY recommend passerbys to try this! All in all, this was a mediocre dining experience with an INCREDIBLE bread basket and pasteis de nata (let that be the positive takeaway). If you're hungry, this is the place to be for its copious meals, otherwise you can probably find better quality in the various cafes across Ipanema.

The baristas are friendly and some speak english fluently, while others have a basic english proficiency - You will be able to communicate if you do not speak Portuguese. The owner who brought this unique cafe to life can often be found there, and the entire staff have a love for high quality coffee. Be aware, the actual location can be a bit hard to find. It is down a corridor/alley that has many small businesses along it which is only for pedestrians/for walking. The cafe consists of a long bar, with a few seats, and the baristas (usually anywhere from 2 - 3) working behind it. Upstairs there are a few small tables that are great for enjoying with a friend or getting a bit of work done. Outside, there are a few tables as well. The drinks are of good quality. One of the baristas told me about how most of Brazil's good quality coffee beans are exported to other countries, so they go through a special coffee bean roaster based out of Sao Paulo(? can't remember exactly) that is known for acquiring high quality beans. They have typical lattes, espresso, and cappuccinos, but also inquire if you are interested in being more adventurous, in some of their more unique drinks (ones created by the cafe). I tried a coconut water with espresso iced drink that was delicious and refreshing. Also they have hibiscus tea which is refreshing on a hot day. They have a number of pastries that are more specific to Brazil, and a small oven in which they warm things fresh. They also have a sourdough toast with butter that an expat recommended (sourdough is not common to Brazil and is an unique offering). Prices are reasonable, with drinks from R$5 - R$10. They do have Wifi. I would recommend this place for the ambiance and the quality of coffee.
