This supposedly "best in Portugal" bakery was a far cry from its online write ups. We were on the First day of the Camino and thought this small detour would be worth it. Since we were about to walk a little over half a marathon with 30lb packs We felt more than one item was justified. What we received was a sweet bread like croissant with little to no crispness. If it was not for our ravenous hunger we probably would not have finished our purchase.
The service was rude on NYC deli counter standards so for Portugal I think they may have actually hated us. They do have a large local fallowing that seems to keep the place packed. There were no available seats when we came by. It's possible we ordered the wrong thing but it's also possible this was not the place it once was. Porto one Portugal do a lot of things really well and some are the best we have ever tried. Croissant does not seem to be one of them. read more
