Have met the most genuine, non-judgmental & kind people:) This is exactly what my family's been needing. My kids are older, but looks like they have very involved babies/kids/pre-teen/teen programs. The people here are genuine and this church does not condone gossip or worldly distractions that take away from our relationship with Jesus. My family and I started coming 2 years ago and it is undoubtedly the best decision we ever made in seeking a church home. Of course, the church is full of people with differing opinions and outlooks, but we all agree that Jesus is the only way to God and that biblical texts matter more than personal preference. Broken people, seeking wholeness in God, through his Son Jesus Christ. At KeyPoint the weekly slogan is "Jesus is the Key, People are the point." And you can feel that lived out every Sunday, every 1st Wednesday and in all of their events. Truly a place of love and community that look out for one another as family. So glad to call this place home.

A couple weeks after being persecuted I reached back out to try and reconcile. I called and emailed the church and they said they would get back to me but it has been over a week of silence now which confirms the hypocrisy. I let the "church" know about the review I wrote and they created dozens of five-star ones! Kudos to them. These people are ruled by fear! I have never done anything to cause fear in anybody except preach the gospel. If they fear fire and brimstone it is because that is where they are headed. Original review: Jason Hirsch in his first interaction with me asked me for my full legal name and Social. What REAL pastor does that? Then when I asked to meet with him he said he wouldn't even talk to me until I sent him my Social. My defenses were up at this point so I asked for his, saying it should go both ways. After a brief discussion he then kicked me out of the church because I wouldn't follow his protocol. Freedom is anything but free folks. Beware wolves in sheeps' clothing!! Wish I knew a church in the Austin area I could recommend, but so far they have all been more interested in making sure you follow their rules than loving their neighbor as themselves. Thing Two came…read morehere for the first time this summer and participated in the week-long faith-based day camp from June 26th to June 30th, led by Pastor L.J. MuCulloch. This camp is designed for Kinder through 5th graders (who have just graduated 5th grade) and runs from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Children who participate in this camp play games, read scripture, and parents can purchase Chick-fil-A meals for $12.00 per day for kiddos. Each day, the children learn about various bible passages that align with the theme of the camp. Each summer, the camp theme changes, and this year, it was "Road Trip" (taking a trip to discover Christ). On the last day of camp, parents are invited to camp to hear 'the word' with their children, learn about what has been happening throughout the week, and have a meal with their campers. Aside from the faith-based center of the camp, as a parent, I appreciated the communication that was sent to parents daily via email and on paper as well as the security protocols put in place to drop off and pick up campers safely and effectively. As a bonus, professional photos of campers are taken daily doing various types of activities. Parents can view these photos on a private website and download photos of their camper(s). Thing Two liked this camp so much to the point that she asked to volunteer next year at this location. We weren't expecting much as the others were fairly small but the size of this one can be overwhelming. It was multiple stories tall and had piles of things for sale. Each room had more and more vendors. If you're looking for the crafty sort of gifts this place has everything from wood-carved crosses to jewelry to hair ties. Parking was hard despite the large lots because it was overflowing with people. For mobility impaired folks there's only one elevator which can make it hard to navigate as it's also pretty slow.

I came in from San Clemente, California, Even though I was in pain from something that bit me on my hand here in Texas and my hand was swollen, I left with my heart so full. From the moment we walked in, I felt the love of this church. The music was uplifting, the worship was powerful, and the people were so warm and friendly. I even had the chance to meet Kara, who serves in communications. She was so kind, welcoming, and took the time to talk with us about the church. It really meant a lot. What impressed me most was how family-oriented The Grove is. There's a wonderful kids section for the little ones, programs for the older kids, and such a thoughtful setup with food, breakfast, and lunch. Both the indoor and outdoor services were beautiful and inviting. My kids have been attending The Grove for about three months now since moving to Austin six months ago, and I can see why they love it so much. I even told my other son that when he makes the move to Texas, he will have to join The Grove too! This church is truly special--a place of worship, community, and joy. I'm so grateful I was able to experience it.

There are so many active groups here--probably the parent group is the biggest--this is definitely a family church! Sunday services are always an absolute joy. Our newly-installed minister, Reverend Joanna is a very gifted speaker--funny, relevant, moving, inspiring. I have found community here. I've found friendship and family and faith. My kids and I are so grateful for this place, the people we find there and the inspiration and activism that the church spurs.

Later, after becoming a parent, I was even more set against going to church because I didn't want to tell my children what to believe - I want them to think for themselves and decide on their own what they believe. After a while, however, I realized that by not exposing them to any religion at all, I was doing just what I was trying to avoid - I was telling them to not believe anything. After a few years of searching, I stumbled across Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church. I stalked them on Facebook, and scoured every page of their website before ever considering attending. Clearly, a more liberal religion, welcoming to literally everyone, with social justice as a major part of what they believe - it seemed too good to be true. But finally, after months of prodding from my husband, I conceded to visit. Once. Within minutes of the service starting, I was in tears. All it took was hearing the affirmation, recited at every service, to know we'd found something really special. "Love is the spirit of this church and service its law. This is our great covenant: To dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love, and to help one another." After the service, we found ourselves in the fellowship hall enjoying coffee with members - we were approached by several members, and made to feel so incredibly welcome. As we left, my husband couldn't believe his ears when I said, "I can't wait for next Sunday. " The service, and every service that has followed, has had me crying happy tears at at least one point or another. We've made so many friends, and love the community we've become a part of. But mostly, I am so indescribably grateful for the gift that Live Oak is for our kids. RE (religious education) is just that - religious education, not indoctrination. Kids are encouraged to think for themselves and to ask questions. In middle school, they learn about major religions, so that by high school, they are able to make their own faith statement about what they as individuals believe. Exactly what we want for our kids. If you're looking for an open minded, completely welcoming, "I *get* to go to church" instead of "I *have* to go to church" church home - come visit Live Oak UU. :) ******* Edited to reply to Brandon's critique: We are not fighting with anyone. We are simply replacing flags as they are stolen from us. What you call a fight is honestly just us standing for love and inclusivity.
