Playing in community centers and…read moreindoor basketball courts are good but it gets tough when they close for the holidays, watch in disgust when your shuttlecock hits the ceiling, try and figure out the badminton lines on the floor which criss cross with basketball lines or are asked to leave early because players from other sports get there. So a dedicated badminton court/club definitely helps. I have been going to the new club for the past 2 weeks and it's great- courts, people, management-- all top notch! The only downside for me is that the club is a little far from where I live but playing badminton twice a week in a proper badminton court at a convenient time of the day is all I can ask for now.

Everyone is really friendly and willing to help. :) The Potomac Squash Club is located right off the intersection of Montrose and Seven Locks Roads next to a Maryland State Police station. There isn't a receptionist so it's probably best to email or call ahead of time to see when there will be someone around. Otherwise, mornings seem to be pretty popular. There are 3 international standard squash courts. Keep in mind that you can only use non-marking shoes.

PSC is very accessible off a main road (Montrose) on a less-traveled access road with convenient parking, just steps from its front door. The club has three International singles courts in good condition. They are lighted well with good contrast colors for easy tracking. There is no WHITE dress code, but you should wear non-marking shoes and protective eyewear as required most clubs. There is some light exercise equipment and some free-weights for warm-up/ stretching, etc. There is comfortable viewing of squash play from a walkway just off the cozy lounge area with a TV. PSC is a pleasant, community squash club with engaging, friendly members, consistent with the welcoming nature of squash players found throughout the world. PSC has a very home-like feel and it's clear there is a sense of family among its members. There is no staff, other than the squash pros. The club is run by the volunteer efforts of its caring membership. As such, there is no receptionist. Access to the club is via key card, essentially, but there is a doorbell for guests. Best to call in advance to arrange play, if you are a guest or prospective member. I recommend playing here. I would join if I lived in the area. I look forward to visiting again during my future visits.

I heard the GM at this club is nowhere to be seen and there's not enough staff. A real GM should have this place cleaned up with very little effort. There's no attention to detail. There is nobody working the lobby to greet or answer questions. The mens bathroom is gross and looks like it hasn't been updated in 30 years. I get that the clubhouse is old but there is zero effort being put in to update. When I was there as a golf guest with a buddy of mine the menu was printed crooked on crumpled paper and the members told me it's been like that for months. Let me restate. The menu was printed crooked from a printer on stock paper crumpled up with holes in it. How embarrassing is that? There was 1 waiter working both of their restaurants at the same time. I work in hospitality and this place is run by pure amateurs. There are 5 clubs within 15 miles of this club that present like true country clubs.

Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by the attendant who was gracious and helpful. Pro Shop staff were all friendly and directed me to my golf cart. View of the golf course can be appreciated from the putting greens and the range is a short golf cart drive away. Course was in great condition, fairways were wide with gentle slopes and dips that challenged your course management and club selection. Due to time, I wasn't able to go inside and enjoy the bar but hoping if I get an invite to come back, we'll have time to enjoy the 19th hole!

We have tried many different facilities and coaches over the years for my older son and for her and I am truly impressed by the level of attention my daughter is given during well thought and organized camps. Her private instruction is not "cookie cutter" but tailored to meet her needs and enhance her strengths as well as develop new approaches, drills and thought process to her weaknesses. The facilities are spacious with multiple areas for instruction and drill. Even enough room to run infield drills in bad weather with a team! There are multiple instructors for various skills for pitching, hitting, catching and fielding. Instruction does not only focus on the physical aspects of the game (softball in this case) but also mental and preparation. Discussion about nutrition, workouts beyond coaching, and habits also is included as part of helping my athlete be ready to compete. Pure Performance meets the athlete where they are and prescribes a program to help them achieve their goals. I am very impressed with the comprehensive program provided by Pure Performance and it's coaches.

My 11 yr old daughter has been taking lessons and attending camps at Pure Performance for 18…read moremonths. Given the space, instructors, coaches, location; the pricing is great. She was struggling with hitting and I knew enough that as a travel player, she passed my ability to help her. She was nervous going in for her first lesson with Coach Ryan - more so when he said I had to stay in the waiting room. After the lesson, Coach Ryan gave me a tour of the facility and sent us home with several drills. On the ride home, I asked my daughter what she thought - she was sold and couldn't wait to go back. She noticed a difference between the start and finish of her lesson based on Coach Ryan's corrections. And although Coach Ryan intimidates her - she never wants to disappoint him - she's excited for every lesson, with no sign of stopping. Last Fall, she moved up to 12U travel as a 10 yr old. The change in ball size was a struggle batting and as a catcher. So, we upped our visits with Coach Ryan but she also started lessons with Coach Morgan. An amazing catching coach, that has helped her with the transition and to excel behind the plate. My daughter lights up whenever she sees Coach Morgan; and although she is drenched in sweat after every lesson, she never wants them to end. In addition to the private lessons, Pure Performance's clinics and camps are great for players of any skill or age. Last summer, I sent both my daughters (the younger plays rec ball) to the summer camp. They do some things as a group but others are based on skill/team age. They had a great time and were never short of stories about the drills, conditioning, games, competitions of the day. They were exhausted but excited for the next day. They enjoyed it so much that they asked to attend again this summer and are bringing friends. We are always on the lookout for new camps and clinics. Overall, I cannot say enough about Pure Performance; the facility, coaches, instructors, camps, clinics, cage/lane rentals. Thank you

I sent my bow there for tying in the peep sight. Should have been a one day job. Turned into six days. And had no call back, email or communication on my bows status. I called a few times and was told it was not ready and I decided to pick it up and attempt to tie the peep sight myself. Before picking it up I called and spoken to Greg. Very good guy and friendly. He said there was not a full time bow mechanic. But should they not update their website to reflect this? Anyways, when I got there I got my Bow. And all be darned if the peep sight was not already fixed. I paid them $25 for the service. And Reggie did a great job. However, I wanted my cams looked over and inspected and that was still not done. Any bow shop I ever been to usually inspects the cams after working on a bow. Made no sense to my why this was not done same day my peep sight was finished. And having to deal with 3 or 4 people to retrieve my bow was a bit of a hassle. Anyways, What I am saying is that Nova fencing and archery is a great friendly place. But, they need to work on communication and update their website saying they currently don't have a full time bow mechanic. And work on contacting their customers. Like I said. I have to leave a critical or negative review. And wish I could leave 5 stars. But, sadly I cannot. I feel like the Bow department needs to work on internal and external communication. Great place for people and children to learn and take up fencing and archery from some of the best instructors in the NOVA area. But their archery shop needs improvement. No hard feelings.

This pool has been in business sometime, mostly for Mosby Woods residents and visitors. Have been lucky to have swum laps here, or just chilled with the kindle on the fairly comfortable chairs. The gravel lot works, and can hold a decent amount of vehicles. If parking is an issue, residential streets close by have room. The employees here are very friendly. Also kudos to them, for not allowing teenagers to do what they want to do. Yes all of us, myself included were young once, but sometimes you want to hammer out laps or relax a bit. There's more road noise from 66, due to the 66 inside the Beltway project. Yet all in all, a decent place to be on a hot summer day.
