Firstly, their meat is top class and they are happy to prepare and cut any of the eat to specification. The meat is aged appropriately. Last week, I cooked some superb fillet steaks from here for a dinner party and my knowledgeable foodie guests were eulogising about the meat Robert is also a wealth of knowledge about meat and how to cook it. To be honest it was very disappointing. Everything is now in plastic rather than being for sale on the fresh cabinet. They have cheeses and cakes for sale in the butchers !! I thought butchering is about meat not cakes. They only had calves liver fresh everything else was in plastic packaging. The calves liver was put in some packet that the butcher sealed with a machine but hadn't sealed it properly and it leaked on my mother. Personally if they spent less on fancy packaging and concentrated on the product it would be a lot better also this would keep costs down. Staff weren't really that friendly, Evans and Gibbs used to be very friendly and would go above and beyond to help you. Price wise it seemed expensive and when everything is in plastic packaging you might as well just go to the supermarket. Also while we were in there, they were getting a delivery of meat from a big articulated truck which had Scotland plastered all over it. So it would appear the meat is not locally sourced either which is a shame. Very sad to see this shop become what it is now. :( Not for me and I don't think I will be going back.

I actually love the food here and it's pretty cheap. They also get random STUFF in once a month for a laugh to make you wonder if you accidentally wondered into your local budget hardware shop.
