I have suffered back and neck pain for years due to my extensive knee surgeries from being an athlete my entire life. As years went on, I also developed gut issues. Then I was laid on my stomach and was given pulse massages via a TENS unit for 10-12 minutes... And that was it. Twenty dollar special for a new patient and the very kind (on the phone) receptionist sealed the deal. I secured an early morning appointment. All seemed good. Arrived 15 minutes ahead of my appointment as requested. Desk worker had NO mask though she put one on when I asked. She seemed confused as to why I was there, even though my name was literally on the huge "welcome new patients" sign behind her. Eventually she brought my paper work, which she explained to me in granular detail. At this point, I've been here for 30 min. There is a TV BLASTING the Simpsons and then switches to another show featuring loud screaming. I had a tour of the place, which is open concept with all the physical therapy machines out in the open. Patient/customers are coming in and out. No masks. No attention to cleaning as far as I can tell. After the tour, the desk lady goes through my paper work and basically reads it back to me. I go through some light stretching and rate my pain. I stand on a scale. I have now been here 66 minutes. And I can hear the Doctor talking about fantasy football in the main area. I feel as though I'm being punished for insisting on masks amid a COVID surge. I was told on the phone this appointment would be 45 minutes. When the doctor came in, he only had his mask attached at one point. He was incredibly condescending about my concerns around Covid safety. Basically this is some kind of performative racket, not a place for healing.
