She's a great doctor and I couldn't recommend her enough. From the moment I walked in, I was treated by the service desk with kindness and respect. I was the last patient of the day but you would have thought they were waiting for me all day. Clearly, the employees are treated well and this must be a great place to work if everyone was this engaged. I came in with a year of severe heel pain and was awaiting the worst. Dr. Vander Poel came in and could not have had a better bedside manner. She quickly found what was wrong and it was a simple solution involving exercises and stretching. Following her direction, I was pain free in two days! I feel 10 years younger. If you have foot pain, come here. If you have to drive from elsewhere in the state, do it. They are that good.

When I attempted to pre-register online the system told me that the birthdate I entered did not match what they had in their system and would not let me proceed. I called the office and told them about the issue, verifying my birthdate for them. The next day they called and said they had fixed the problem and to try again. I did, but the problem remained. So, the day of my appointment I arrived 25 minutes early to fill in the paperwork. I then proceeded to wait for my 10:30 appointment. At about 11:00 I was taken into an exam room and told the doctor was finishing up with his last patient and would be in shortly. And so I waited some more. After waiting for more than a full hour, I decided that we could no longer wait. I informed the staff we were leaving and asked them for my copay to be returned. At that point, I was told (again) that the doctor was finishing up and could see me soon. No thank you! I understand that "emergencies" can come up during the day's appointments, but I have decided that my time is as important as any doctor's time, and I will not wait for longer than an hour to see anyone. So doctors, fix your scheduling systems, and do what it takes to show your patients that you value them and their time. As an addendum, I was waiting with my husband, who runs his own engineering firm, and if he were to show up over an hour late for his appointments with clients, that would be a complete lack of professionalism. They may have great doctors at The Hand Center, but they are not the only game in town. I now have an appointment with another highly regarded orthopedic practice.

Only complaint is with getting release to work form on time. Workers Comp. Will not release you to…read morework with out the note. 3 surgeries and 3 nightmares try to get a release form. This office needs a better system to get these out ASAP with out the patient having to call 3 or 4 times to say "you still have not sent this to me." Hate to say this, but I will not longer us this company for any future needs. They know about this issue and still do not address it. Bad business practice.

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a Dr. office. My adult daughter's finger tip was…read morebitten off and shredded by a dog. The finger was wrapped at an emergency facility and a day and a half later we saw Dr. legeyt. The assistant who was to remove the bandage was standoffish and short with us from the start. They wouldn't numb her finger before removing the bandage. My daughter asked why and the assistant said "do you really want the dr to do this because he won't be as gentle as me" and then when my daughter was apprehensive she said "I'm not going to deal with this" and stormed out. Dr legeyt came in and spoke to my daughter like he was admonishing a child with zero compassion and zero respect and zero explanation. We were both shocked by his manner. I almost left right then, but she needed care. She agreed to let the assistant try to remove the bandage. After about 5 or so minutes as my daughter was screaming and writhing in pain, It came to the point where she couldn't continue. The assistant (who was actually being very sweet, compassionate and helpful at this point) left and a horrible woman came storming in who was determined to rip that bandage off no matter how much it hurt. We didn't allow that. So Dr. legeyt came back in with a huge attitude. I politely asked him why they couldn't numb her hand first and he would not look at me or answer. We couldn't let this sadistic maniac work on her hand, so we wrapped it back up ourselves and left.
