I was warmly greeted and directed to the counter. Excellent! The teller I dealt with asked how…read moreshe could help. I explained I wanted to a purchase a bank check in the amount of $16.50. The teller nicely requested my ID and I furnished that. She told me that the charge would be $6. I told her that was fine and I held out $40. cash to pay for the transaction. A gentleman with a beard sauntered over and asked if I was a customer of the bank. I replied that I was not a customer of the bank. He just shook his head. He stated, we can't do it. I inquired.. "Why not?", "Bank Policy" was his response. He just kept shaking his head glumly. It was kind of surreal because he was standing infront of a Menora, backlit by holiday lights. The teller looked embarassed. Realizing this was a bizzare exchange, I asked.. "OK, is there a different product I should be buying? Something like a money order?"
