Now for some changes The menu is the same but they do some things differently Like the Pizza I just cannot eat, is way too cheesy for me I used to be able to taste the pepperoni green peppers mushrooms and a little hit of cheese, now it is straight up cheese, so now I call New System Restaurant ok the pizza is cold/warm at best but at least I can eat it. Moving on Connies Pizza new owners raised the prices of every thing on the menu. Just for fun wait to you see what they charge for Onion Rings, Folk we are talking about an Onion that has been sliced, then dipped in seasoned crumbs, then deep fried FFS. It blows my mind that this place doesn't have better reviews. As a Chicago guy myself, I take my pizza very seriously. We're lucky to have found Connies - somewhere who also takes their pizza seriously. Your arteries will be under attack, as the irresistible 10 pound monstrosity they put in front of you begs to be eaten, slice after slice, until you're in a full-on food coma. Foremost, don't expect a thin little pizza that's cheap. The Saputo cheese is piled on and baked until it crisps and browns, the sauce is homemade and somehow stays piping hot underneath the cheese for long after they pull it out of the oven, the (also homemade) crust is a bit soft under all that sauce but still buttery (if you don't eat quickly, it'll begin to lose it's battle to the sauce...), and the different variations (toppings) are all knock-out fresh and well matched to one another per pizza style... it's hard to screw up your order. It's epic 'Za, dude - you will feel 5 pounds heavier when you're done. But it's the farthest departure in Montreal (that we've found) away from the Italy style thin brick oven baked stuff that you can find everywhere around the city (disclaimer: that style of pizza is still delicious, don't get me wrong, but variation is great and you can find it at Connie's). 6/5 stars, guys - keep being an epic part of the Pointe. read more

What can I say about Connie's pizza? It is quite possibly my favourite pizza EVER! I always go for the Speciale or Super Speciale because the humongous amount of ingredients combined with the taste of the meat spaghetti sauce is just perfect. Connie's is the local pizza place in my neighborhood. They have been in business for 50 years so they must be doing something right. They make a deepish dish style pizza that produces a juice slice on a think chewy crust. In addition to pizza, their menu includes many of the standards such as subs, slouvlaki and lasagna. This is mostly a delivery or takeout spot. They do have a small amount of seating, but there is not much in the way of ambiance. You can count on Connie's for home filling tasty food. Note that this is not one of those 2 for 1 pizza places with really cheap skimpy pizza. Good neighborhood pizza joint! The first thing you need to know about Connie's is that it's a take out joint, they have tables but I'm not sure I would bother sitting at one of the like five tables they have in the place. It would be like trying to sit in any other small restaurant kitchen, hot and kind of cramped. Connie's isn't a gourmet pizza joint it's a small independent pizza place, they make what I like to call dirty pizza. The word dirty in this case doesn't refer to the state of the kitchen but to the fact that this pizza isn't meant for anyone on a restricted calorie diet. The crust has a thick rim and a doughy almost soggy from the sauce bottom. The sauce isn't anything to write home about but it isn't like the Andrei F says it is, at worst I would accuse the sauce of being bland but not rancid. The toppings have always been sufficient, the pepperoni is bountiful and the cheese stacked high (sometimes too high). I think maybe when it comes to Connie's maybe you need to stick to the standards like pepperoni or all-dressed. I can't say that this is the greatest pizza in the world but given a choice between Connie's and other pizza delivery restaurants, such as Domino's or Pizza Hut I'll take Connie's dirty pizza any day of the week. What is it with this town and pizza? If there are two things that Montreal does better than any other city this side of the Atlantic it's bread and cheese. Apparently those artisans are not speaking to the pizza folks, however. Time and again I'm reading rave reviews, having my hopes raised and being handed pizza that would be considered barely tolerable for the airport in any other city. Connie's is thick pizza. Not deep dish, just thick, and kinda cardboard-y and very greasy. They almost have a flavor to their pizza sauce so they get a star above the pizza in the subway but that's as far as I could go. I've tried just about every Pizza places in Montreal during my lifetime. There are maybe 5 really good pizza places worth talking about - and Connie's is one of them! It's a Greek Style Pizza packed with so much Cheese and Fillings - your going to have a Heart Attack after just a slice and Love Doing It :) Montrealers from all over Canada - go out of their way just to do 2 things when they come back to Quebec. To the guy asking about the bread in the middle... its meant to absorb the excess sauce and pizza grease from the cheese. I have had meat sauce pizza from more than one place. and this is by far the best. Peperoni meat sauce special is what I order. its simply delicious, this is not artisanal pizza. When you feel ike having a delicious greasy spoon type pizza, this is the place to go. If you want some crispy frou frou flatbread pizza a la goat cheese, don't come here. My girlfriend and I ordered a medium Hawaian Pizza to-go. It took about 15 minutes. When we got the pizza, it had this little piece of bread in the middle of it. It kind of looked like a bird dropped "it" from the sky. I am not sure what the purpose of "it" was. We had to cut the pizza ourselves because it was not sliced up good enough. The slices of ham... were not really slices. It looked like they just threw the big chunks of ham on top of the pizza and then cheese/pineapple on top of it. As soon as we bit into the slices... we had to spit them out right away. I am not sure if they got the wrong sauce on our pizza, but the sauce tasted like an expired spaghetti sauce combined with meatball sauce. It was very sour and definitely.. NOT tasting good. Actually... it tasted AWFUL. I will not go back to this place and will definitely not go back to argue with them about why my pizza was bad. Have not had the pizza in a while but my last two orders exhibited very poor quality ingredients (frozen, canned) and terribly over priced. This restaurant has been in business for YEARS, it's an icon in Point-St-Charles. They simply gave up the QUALITY, their pizza sauce taste like a watered down spaghetti sauce at best. The toppings they give like 8 pieces of meat if that, The staff look like they need a shower, Nothing like seeing the pizza cook SWEATING HIS BUTT OFF, cuz there is no A/C and the stench of the fryer where they make frozen french fries ( oh yuck ) makes me wanna puke, Seeing the cook wipe the seat from his head then without washing his hands rolls dough. The place is dirty, smelly, tiny, the staff seem like they need a shower, not a place you wanna sit in to eat. Besides there is only like 3 or 4 table in the place. The bulk of their business is take out, or delivery, very rare to see people sitting inside. Must be the smell of lard from the firer ( over powering ) I had a pizza delivered to my home one night, scary driver, I didn't eat the pizza, he looked like he spit on the pizza, that look in his eyes ya know what I mean? I've read lots of good reviews of Connie's on other sites... So I have to say I was looking forward to trying Connie's. I do like an old-school greasy pizza now and then, so I thought I knew what I was in for. I ordered delivery. One: they forgot my drink. Two: personally, I don't like it when a driver fumbles for change excessively, like what - it's freezing cold, I'm waiting, and you want me to say forget it so you'll get a bigger tip? Three: I was *very* curious to try the "Connie's Special" but didn't want to on my first try - meat sauce on a pizza is a little strange... So I ordered the all dressed, then I also got one of their pastas, hoping to try the meat sauce and imagine what it might be like on a pizza. People say it's a tasty flavourful sauce, so while I wasn't expecting anything gourmet, I was certainly expecting something with flavour, more 'homestyle'. The whole meal was flavourless. The crust was bland. The cheese was pretty generic, tasteless. The spaghetti - wow. Open a can of spaghetti-os and you might do better. The sauce, again, no flavour.
