I would give this hotel a 3+ stars. We arrived just before the close of ordering dinner, 9:00 p.m., and were able to sit down and enjoy a meal at Harry's Restaurant, adjacent to the lounge. The presentation of the food was very well done. The food itself wasn't up to quite the same standard. It was good, but nothing special for the price. The decor was an unusual assemblage of contemporary and traditionaly in a bit of a haphazard way. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The view from this hotel to one side is spectacular. My colleague had a room facing the parking lot, so be sure to ask for one facing the Ystwyth valley and hills beyond. The double rooms were spacious and fitted with various pieces of furniture (sitting chair, cradenza, table). The bed was comfortable with adequate linens. The bathroom was surprisingly well done. The only oddity was that the sink was a pedestal type that you would expect to find in a public restroom and not a full top as one would hope.
The hotel seems to be an old guest house. Rooms are around off a snaking and twisting corridor that goes up several flights of stairs. At night, fire doors are shut throughout this corridor which can make wayfinding a bit challenging. There is a small elevator for those with heavy luggage or mobility challenges. read more
