It's a small station, and you have to pay attention to the available space when trying to get in and out to a pump. Great price, though - especially close to the 101 at one of the exits where people who need gas coming from Santa Barbara may need to stop. If you're coming from the north, you likely could have fueled up in Santa Maria. In any event, we had just come from Lompoc, where prices were all over the place, so we didn't stop there. When we saw $3.99 at this station, Dear Hubby asked me to pull in to top off the tank before we headed home. I had to wait a little while to be able to get to a pump, but once that was accomplished, we were good to go. $3.99 was the cash price on 1/29/24. I didn't go into the convenience store, so I don't have any info on that part of the business. They were definitely busy on a Monday afternoon. Price point surely had something to do with it. Conserv Fuel - $3.99 on the Central Coast. - Gas Stations Near Me - Buellton, California

Who knew Conserv Fuel would grow to be a California Central Coast mini-empire? I sure didn't, although when I think back on it, the ones in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo did seem to sprout up at around the same time. This one is definitely much newer--and smaller. This may have been the first time I've ever gotten gas in Buellton while driving to San Francisco. On the way south, it's possible just because I rarely have a completely full take when I leave San Francisco. On this occasion, though, I unforgivably didn't have a full tank when I left SoCal, and the single bar I had left on my fuel gauge just started blinking when I got off the 101. Conserv Fuel was closest and not one of chains I avoid, so Conserv it was. There were a couple of out-of-order pumps, which was annoying because other people had just parked their cars in front of other (working) pumps and gone into the store rather than being considerate and parking elsewhere. When I finally got a pump that worked, its card reader was out of order, so I ended up paying cash inside. The store is pretty well stocked and clean. The bathroom is cleanish, but it's right off a busy highway, so I understand why it's not cleaner. The person at the cash register was really friendly. So friendly, in fact, that it took me a long time to get my change because I had to wait for a conversation with a previous customer to end. I'd definitely come again, but I'm unlikely to need to. Gas is cheap, pumps are slooooowwwww as been my experience at another Conserv. However, there might be something fishy about their cc machine at the pump. I ran my VISA/debit card on the RF swiper as a credit card and entered my zip code and got "see cashier " notice on the pump display. Hmm, odd I thought, so ok I ran it as a debit atm and entered my pin and once again, got "see chashier" notice on the display. Weird. So then I pull out my COSTCO credit card and run it two times in the same sequence as my previous card and got "see cashier" both times. Damn, wtf, I need gas to get to work! So I go inside and take to the counter and they run $40 on my COSTCO credit card and finally it goes through. Cool, now I can get to work. Lo and behold, I get an email notification from the first VISA/debit card that there was suspicious activity and to verify. So apparently the machine was trying to charge $125 on the card even after it was rejected. Bank was asking me to verify if i recognized the transaction and I said NO because card never was accepted. Not sure if $125 is a standard preliminary charge to ensure the card has sufficient balance to cover or if it's a discrepancy or if there is some fraud or maybe card skimming or faulty machine, but be aware of this. After this I'm personally not comfortable going to this station and using my cards. If I go back it will be cash payment. read more

Since it's National Compliment Day, I'm going to give this shout out to one of our favorite gas station stops. Jeff and I travel from Ventura to Santa Maria every week. We make a point at stopping at this station to fill up. It's not just about the station itself or the convenient location right off the 101 freeway, or the amazingly cheap gas. It's about the lovely staff who works here. Every time we stop we are greeted with friendly enthusiasm. They all seem to enjoy their job and it radiates from them. This is a rarity especially at a gas stations. A big plus is their always open, clean bathrooms. Big kudos to the management!!! read more

Seems like this is a new gas station in the Santa Ynez Valley, just off the 101, near the towns of Buellton and Solvang. It's near Avenue of the Flags exit. Funny. When I think of Avenue of the Flags, I think of Avenue of the Stars in West LA. It's NOT the same thing. But there you have it. Anyhow, this place is clean, very clean AND it's the cheapest gas in this area. Why would you want to go anywhere else? They do have a convenience store, just like many other gas stations. As I promised, I returned a week later to ascertain whether Conserv Fuel management had decided to enforce the state mask mandate or if it was just pretending to while accepting all customers, masked or not. I looked in the window rather than go inside, and I witnessed your maskless cashier talking to a maskless customer. Conserv Fuel management doesn't care about customers (or employees) and isn't even trying to comply. There are 4 other gas stations right nearby who will receive my business in future, solely for being better corporate citizens and members of our community than Conserv Fuel. read more

Cheap gas prices... close to freeway... very clean and smelling good bathroom (which is very rare for a gas station). Lea was really very nice. Even though she was busy with a line of people getting gas, she can still manage to smile and respond to you. Since it's the cheapest in the block, which Shell across the street with $0.10 more per gallon, it's a little busy and they had a wait to get gas, which was okay with us coz we're from out of town so it's our bathroom break. Nice choice for our rest stop. read more

Was told I could not get gas because I was having a bad day... apparently the employees can tell you what kind of day your having. Gas is normally cheap and it's okay gas. Local gas stations in Santa Ynez valley are much more welcoming and helpful. read more

Toady, I witnessed a worker taking extra time to explain to a lady how her gas card worked. She was from Oregon. She also had questions about the correct octane for her vehicle. Again, he took time to explain her choice and went outside to help her husband get the nozzle to work correctly. Very impressive! read more

Have nothing against company in general. Management is very poorly trained and dressed. Big lady that works behind counter is always looking a mess. Hair greasy yoga pants on and is very rude to customers. Blonder lady very sloppy looking and is never around when I need her , if I make a complaint and speak to manager she is always a phone call away. Like shouldn't a manager be there if she's on the clock? Gas station over all is very clean and good pricing.. Please just do something with your management here in buellton!! read more
