for a company that has "communications" in its name, this company truly doesn't get it.... My internet stopped working on a Wednesday evening. I got an "appointment" for thursday and no one showed up. They said they could come the following day, I got text messages stating the technician had arrived, but that wasn't true, then I was notified that the problem was resolved, I checked and that was also not true. I texted back (as instructed!) to notify the company that it wasn't fixed. No answer. I called the support line who stated that the issue was fixed, and that the technician had arrived. I had to strongly suggest that neither of those were true. THey had to create another "ticket" and said that someone would be out at the end of the following week, despite my attempts at escalating the situation. I got a lot of people apologizing and no action. Despite my requests to keep me informed, I checked my internet on Sunday night and it was fixed. No notification at all. And, to top it off, on Monday I got two text messages stating that the technician was arriving at my location! again not true. I have to contact the company again so I don't have to pay for the 5 days I didn't have service. They have big problems. read more

Basic Internet with periodic outages. When CC works, it works and you can work from home. Not great speeds, but it does the basic job. Not good if you need high speed. When it's out, calling Tech support amounts to them asking you to reboot your router and maybe checking some settings. Ultimately, they put in a ticket to have a service rep come out, often with no schedule. Sometimes Internet is out a day, sometimes 3. No follow up from customer support. Service rep may or may not show up. Internet may be working and then you get a text saying the ticket is still being processed and a service rep will be out in the next day or so. To work from home, you absolutely must have a secondary/backup option available (e.g., Verizon hot spot) if you depend on Internet. Overall, it's better than satellite, but only one rung up. read more

I purchased a house with a line going to telephone boxes on the side of my house labeled Bell which was then bought by Verizon, and subsequently Consolidated Communications. There is a low-lying line going to my house from a telephone pole on my neighbor's property which connects to the road. It goes to a box on the side of my house that used to be for a telephone line which has since been disconnected. Thinking it was a telephone line I requested CC to come and remove it after asking Spectrum and Eversource who both said it was Consolidated's. Since I'm not a customer they want to charge me $200 (which I cannot afford during these hard times). This line is 9'6" off my patio and has almost killed a painter and 3 contractors have said it dips too low. Even Spectrum says it's low. In the winter, it goes low enough for me to jump and reach it (I'm 5'3"). Someone from Consolidated said they came out (my security cameras do not show him looking at the line or the boxes) on 7/28/22 I think. He left a message in handwriting that I couldn't read well, saying it was within normal telephone line clearance and that a charge would be made. No ticket number for this was given to me at any point for this visit, no name of the tech was given either. This is the first time any utility company has ever wanted to charge me for removing a dangerous line. Since he never measured or even went to the box to see the line I was surprised when he tried to say all of that. He thought it was a telephone line and didn't even test it. I repeatedly requested via email to customer support that someone needs to come out via an appointment when I am present or I would be calling the police. I wanted to be present since the last person did not do a good job and lied which is proven from the security cameras. He said he would open a new ticket (no ticket number was ever given to me). No response multiple times back from him and they refused to make an appointment. I get a call yesterday (8/2/2022) from a Supervisor. I couldn't call her back as I left the house this morning at 6am when nobody was available. I emailed customer support to forward my appointment request to her today (8/3/2022) via email so I can respond. Again, no ticket number was ever given to me by anyone. I got out of work early today 8/3/2022 and I pull into my driveway. A car with purple bubbles on it (no wording indicating consolidated with VT plates) was at my house and she was wandering around. I asked who she was and she immediately snapped back at me asking who I was. No visible ID was present. I told her I was the home owner. She said her name and that she was from Consolidated. I told her an appointment had to be made and she maintained she didn't need one. She was taking pictures, but not checking the box and took no measurements. She also thought this was just a telephone line. I asked her to leave and make an appointment or I would call the police. Her response was "please do". So, I did. She immediately became more argumentative and asked if I was a CRNA and that she hoped her daughter never had to see me. A police officer came over and I explained to him that I had placed in writing an appointment had to be made and she was effectively trespassing. He checked up on it and was going to do some research but didn't think he could do anything other than civil charges. He also mentioned that she was very much aggressive with her attitude towards him as well. This was all recorded on his body camera. She pulled up 100 yards on the side of the road from my house. I passed by on my way to walk my dogs for 25 minutes and she was still there when I came back. She was parked there for close to an hour which I felt was harassment. The consolidated tech truck went from the police station to her car and also sat there for at least a half hour. I never wanted any work done without my consent so I'm not sure why the truck even came. I called the support line at CC to report this as I did not feel comfortable. Someone told me that if it was a telephone line to just cut it and pile it up by the pole. I went to check the line and it was hot. Thank god I didn't cut it! Bad advice! I opened the box and the hot line is not taped off or capped and it is just sitting in a plastic box (not even an electric box) attached to nothing. It is 9'6" off my patio (which for a hot power line is too low by any standard). I believe it is dangerous, it is owned by Consolidated, and should be removed free of charge... Especially given the unprofessionalism, no ticket numbers given, no responses, no ID badges or a way to ID the car driven, and lying by the local team you have in northern NH. Spectrum and Eversource are super easy to make appointments with and give ticket numbers. not sure why this company has to be so terrible. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Had an appointment scheduled for a Monday between 8 and 12 to have my internet set up. They didn't show up. Called after 12 and waited on hold for 30 mins to be told they wouldn't be coming that day and that their dispatch would call me back that afternoon to reschedule. No call. Called again Tuesday morning and was told they have bad news and they couldn't tell me when they would be out. Spoke to a manger who said the same thing. Told me due to storms (unpredictable and clearly not their fault) and too many techs on vacation (well within their ability to predict) they could not even give me an approximate time frame. Asked them why they never called me to tell me about changes to scheduled appointment and they said they had the wrong contact number for me. But they had managed to send me several texts confirming my appointment. So they lied in addition to everything else. Ended up having to buy a costly hotspot as I work from home and have to have internet. That will at least get me through until a company that communicates with their customers can get out here. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Worst customer service and overall service ever. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you do not have to. We are absolutely IRATE after waiting a month for an appointment, waiting the 9 hour window they make you wait for a tech, and then being blown off if they have the tiniest issue. The tech will call from an unknown number and leave a message with no call back number and then just leave the site without even trying to work out an issue. You'll then have to fight with incompetent customer service for hours. They will not give you an ETA of tech arrival or any information whatsoever to help you. We had to reschedule our appointment after getting blown off and the supervisor assured us we'd have the first appointment between 8-10am. We got a call the day before to confirm our new 8-9am appointment for the morning. We called for a status update at 10:30am and the customer service rep could only tell us they will be here between "8am-5pm." NOW at 12PM, I just spent another 40 mins on the phone to be told that the original tech had "vehicle problems" and they were "luckily" able to find a 2nd tech to come out but he's currently on another job so we're "next" and "probably early afternoon." Then we either got disconnect or the supervisor (Jacobi) hung up on me. The story keeps changing and we are LIVID. Support staff can only tell you bare basics and are not helpful, Supervisors are equally as inadequate and have very little empathy or skill handling customer situations such as this. TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE BETTER AND GIVE THEM THE TOOLS TO ACTUALLY HELP PEOPLE! The really sad part is even though I am not the first (by far) to give this company poor reviews, the lack of available options keeps them operating the way they do. PLEASE Consolidated provide some better service OR some better internet service PLEASE come into our area and put these people out of business. Also, if you are going to service the north country of New Hampshire or anywhere in New England, GET 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES!!! I don't know why you think you wouldn't have to deal with winter weather conditions in Northern New England Weather. Absurd. *Update 2:45PM, on hold again with Consolidated. They are now telling us "it's really tough to get a hold of the techs. If they don't come out today then we can give you first priority for the next time." Wait. My phone and internet go out almost monthly and I usually have to submit at least 2 help tickets to get it repaired. The techs who come to repair are usually nice (though not always successful with a fix), but the phone customer service is horrible. If I had any other option for phone and internet I would switch in a heartbeat. read more

I can't begin to describe the absolute poor quality of not only my internet service, but my phone service as well. On a daily basis, and frequently throughout the day, dropped phone calls, missed phone calls, poor quality of calls, static, and so on. For internet, my internet drags, it takes 5 mins or better to call up a site and get information. Many times, the internet drops out. It is so slow and yet my bill remains over $116 .. waited two weeks for appointment to get me back on line. Haven't had a problem for 2 1/2 yrs...and now it's a disaster. Technician is awesome. Came today, very sympathetic and knowledgeable. He found crossed wires, fixed that. didn't resolve issue. Came back installed new bigger modem...seemed great..until an hr ago. Modem says I have I have internet service..but nada. Immediate "timing out" even though internet light is green. Pull plug, count to 30..plug in again..service comes up..then slowly goes away. A Nightmare considering my wife and I do business on the internet. Now every night at 5:15 we loose internet service until 10:00 pm. WTF!!?? Comcast please come and take us away from this debacle!! OH..and by the way... if you see a reply from Consolidated apologizing and asking you to contact them at a special email address to help the problem,,, Well..guess what. Rude customer service assistance, lack of contact with the repair service.. no call backs. had to call daily for ten days to get the phone working and its still not the 'crystal clear' they advertised. 5 times in less than 1 month my landline has no dial tone inside or outside at the junction box. Consolidated Communications (CC) acknowledges the problem is entirely on their end and keeps "sending a tech out to repair the problem." The problem does not get fixed. Wait times for a tech to look into the problem range 4-5 days, which means CC has no qualms about leaving me without a phone for extended periods. In one month's time, I've had a dial tone for probably less than two weeks. The problem is unpredictable: I could pick up the phone at any time and no dial tone, or, a call just goes out in the middle of a conversation. There is a good deal of static on the line at times, and clicking, which does seem to hint at losing the dial tone soon. 4 times previously Chat operators have graciously been willing to contact tech support and report the problem for me; Now, Chat operators are refusing to help me out by reporting the problem to tech support; even when I beg them and tell them I have no cell/mobile and no access to any other phone, they say they aren't allowed to call tech support on my behalf and tell me to call myself. When there has been a dial tone, but the static and clicking shows up, hinting that I may be losing the dial tone soon, I call CC to report the problem, and they open the ticket, telling me the tech will be out in 4-5 days. Then, if the dial tone shows up, they close the ticket without ever tracking down the problem and fixing it so that I don't keep having the same problem. I pay for the phone, I should have phone service without continuous and surprise interruptions! One day phone service--the next, no phone! This is one of the worst companies to deal with, hands down. They are not customer service oriented in any way, and seem to care less that services are not being provided yet being paid for--I must pay that phone bill when it arrives, regardless of the fact that they are leaving me without a dial tone. I cannot even find an address for their home office, which I've driven past at least one of their offices in Conway (NH), yet it is not listed? Rotten, just rotten. Fairpoint Communications did a better job, and at least cared whether or not I had a dial tone. They dispatched technicians within 2 days for a reported problem, and usually fixed the problem when they did dispatch a technician. Consolidated Communications is a rotten apple. read more

Absolutely the worst internet provider I've ever used. Constant issues with how much upload/download I'm supposed to be getting - whenever I upload a photo my connection 100% stops until the photo is uploaded and have to reset the router almost weekly because the connection freezes up. Just called because my connection is downloading at barely 800kb/s for the past several days (normally I'm at a piddly 2.5mb/s when I'm apparently supposed to have 25mb/s...yeah right) and they can't get someone out till Monday?? (It's Thursday) Don't go with these absolute clowns, I can't wait to finish the contract and switch to a better provider. read more

Horrible company to work with. Don't be fooled, this is Fairpoint Communications in sheeps clothing! We have had no choice but to work with them for several internet connections. They force customers to sign contracts, but they don't live up to their bandwidth promises. When I call them, they can't even find my account number. Of course, they take advantage of all those lucrative federal grants to build out their network as long as they don't have to actually hook up customers. The CEO says that they "refuse to lose money". What he really means is that connecting customers is less lucrative than installing 'fiber to nowhere' on the federal dime. read more

We have been having internet and home phone problems we called them to put a ticket in. They said that December 28 they would be out so we stayed home all day only for them to not show up. We called them again and they said that the technician had closed the ticket because he fixed the problem. We kept them on the phone to see if the problem had been fixed but it wasn't. They told us to start a new ticket and they would try to have it fixed by January 5. My daughter does online college so I asked them if they had any way of speeding things up and they said there was not way! People there were rude and they seemed like they didn't care. One lady was laughing while on the phone! They kept transferring me to different people for almost 2 hours! Currently we still don't have internet or phone! read more

This company is a joke! Since buying Fair point, they have raised my bill from 28 to 44. For the lowest speed available! When asked for an explanation, I'm told my promotional period expired! Seriously?! On the website it states a 2 year promotional pricing, I've been with "Consolidated" since July of 2017 when they bought Fairpoint. That would, technically, give me the promotional price until July of next year! I didn't choose to change companies so why am I not a new customer??? Looking for other service asap!
