We came from the airport and when we drove up, a very nice and welcoming gentleman came out and took our bags through this large glass sliding door inside to the front desk. Our check in was easy and, no exaggeration, every staff member during out stay greeted us with a warm hello and were so professional. If you are planning on taking a train anywhere, need restaurant advice, where to go and what to see, or friendly banter, the front desk is ready to assist you. They went above and beyond helping us and making sure our stay was perfect. I love the fact that the staff worked as a team and were cross trained. Remember to join the Catalonia Rewards because not only will you get a much better rate than any discount site, you receive free drinks and percentages off of food and beverages you order at the hotel. They do have free snacks and beverages during certain times of the day and there is breakfast available. We didn't eat breakfast there since we already had planned a breakfast elsewhere. It was popular, so it must have been good. As you leave for your room, there is a parlor/bar area where you can take a break and get all sorts of drinks. For your free drink, you have a choice of Cava (the favorite of the Spanish sparkling wine), a beer, or soda. The bar was well stocked, and you could order food. The bartender was charming and had great advice on where to go and knowledge of the area. He and his wife were taking turns running the bar. They did an excellent job. Everything was clean and they were quick to take care of you. Finally we are up to the room. We had reserved a king with a balcony window. That doesn't mean you will be sitting out there. This is originally a building in the historic district and they kept the feel of being in the historic district with up to date ammenities. Our huge bathroom had both a shower and a tub. The beds were comfortable, the view was of the side street which meant it was quieter. Really loved the feel of the room. There is an elevator. This lovely hotel is an absolute must as it is in a safe location, so close to everything, and you couldn't have asked for better hotel staff. They are genuine and professional.

Nice little hotel in the middle of Madrid next to all the famous museums. It is located in an old…read moretown house and looks like not much from the outside. Inside on the other hand it is extremely nicely renovated. Stairs in wood, very high ceilings. Rooms also very nicely renovated, beds are great and staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is very rich but also expensive - so only take it if you really want to profit from it.

Loved this stay, located in Salamanca, which is the nicest and safest part of Madrid. Our check-in…read morewas very efficient and the hotel itself looks very well kept and maintained. The room was a nice size, excellent shower pressure and I utilized the safe (keep your passport, cash, extra credit cards safe) and hair dryer. The workout room was also well endowed with all the necessary equipment. There's also an infinity pool on the roof and seating for an evening drink after your swim. I enjoyed the breakfast selections and I went a little over board with the churros and lattes. But I also ate a bunch of fruit and different types of cheese. It's a struggle to make weight, the struggle is very real!! Note: Skip the churros and go to a legit churro shop, so, save your calories. This is the most important tip for Madrid..for me at least... Going back to this location (Salamanca neighborhood), which is very key, from here you can walk down Calle (street) de Serrano and visit all the stores as well as El Cortes Ingles mall (kinda like Macy's). Keep walking down south and you'll end up at Parque El Retiro, which is a great place to appreciate the greenery, sculptures, ponds, etc.. There's also the US embassy, which is just 5 minutes away from the hotel, just in case you have any issues. Hope you don't. I also forgot to bring my USA t-shirts on this trip, so I didn't get a chance to represent.
