A few of the issues we encountered with Fullerton Works:…read more-They nearly compromised our homes concrete foundation by having zero control over their concrete sawing subcontractor. -They demolished several thousand dollars worth of materials that were supposed to be salvaged for re-use- Even after I had a face to face conversation with their "Project Manager"- who happened to reek of weed that day. -Their plumbing sub initially installed floor drain plumbing in the completely wrong locations and had to reinstall. Even after that, our linear drains were installed crooked within concrete even through they were within a couple inches of the wall they needed to run parallel to. -They had no control and failed to effectively coordinate or manage their subcontractors. They would switch subcontractors performing the same work type with dubious vetting. -After Fullerton Works proposed and I agreed to the correct concrete mix for the top pour of our sandwich slab with in-floor heat, the delivered concrete was the incorrect mix and I had to reject it. -Even after discussing correct form placement, Fullerton Works still managed to incorrectly set concrete forms within a shower stall with zero slope to the drain. This required very risky saw cutting and grinding of concrete poured with ~ an inch of cover over hydronic in-floor heat tubing. -We would typically see Fullerton Works once a week with a crew of 1 or 2 people and a pickup. They would typically be on site for 1-2 hours and then leave because they were missing the necessary tools to perform the work. -We cut ties when Fullerton Works asked for another draw even though they were at least $20k behind what they said they could deliver in their proposal. -I could go on and on. Needless to say we cut ties with Fullerton Works before our project was done, and a fair amount of their work had to be redone by another contractor. Fullerton Works' having clients pay for large portions of the work upfront leaves their clients in a bind when things do not go well. Their large upfront payments allow them to buy nice trucks, have a professional website, and for their owner Blake Fullerton to fly first class- I just ran into Blake on a recent flight to Denver. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE SHINY EXTERIOR!!! Other than writing this review, our means of recourse are limited. The amount Fullerton Works owes us exceeds small claims court amounts, and attorney's fees would easily far exceed what we are owed if we went to district court. Fullerton Works is the most incompetent contractor I've ever worked with- and I've worked with A LOT of Contractors in over 20 years as a Construction Project Engineer. BEWARE, Fullerton Works DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR WORK AND WILL LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY! Do not make the same mistake we did and look elsewhere for your project.

Make sure you…read morestate specifically the quality of work expected such as to what standards the work will be performed to and stating " the quality of work" portion in the contract must be tied to specifics like "there can be no gaps in tiles that require caulking" etc. Also we just found out that this contractor filed a lien on our house for the amount the judge awarded him due to lack of specifics in contract which was paid when I filed an appeal to the lawsuit. This contractor violated Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-5-114 plus other statutes and can be arrested to face criminal charges as stated to me by Archuleta County Clerks. Filing a document that the person knows is false is a felony in Colorado. That requires proof of intent, but if someone knowingly files a lien for money already paid, prosecutors will view it this way. This contractor said he wouldn't remove the lien unless I deleted this review. I chose to go the high road and not have him prosecuted. The lien has been removed with receipt proving I paid from the County Clerk's office. Buyer beware: not only does this guy do bad work and learns on the job, but when you question his workmanship, he will sue you if you do not have a substantially detailed contract, and even if you have paid him, and leave a bad review, he will lien your house.

Responding to Rachel C…read more I understand your concern for your friend and I do not discount your feelings towards the situation. But I am concerned this may be a case of mistaken identity. All of our standard homes are designed to shed snow away from entrances and we do put foundation vents in the best spot on every home to avoid snow shed. Our crew leaders actually do not cut vents during rough framing until it is discussed with a site manager prior on every home. This is the only reason I am questioning whether it is one of our homes, because if it is a standard home, there certainly would be no snow shed into entrance ways. However we are also fully custom home builders (in addition to our standard plans) and even give clients the option to add customized preferences on to our standard homes- which may include additional covered areas and decks. We take great care in the early stages of the project while working with our clients to design the home of their dreams. When the conversation comes up that their dream may include snow shed into an entrance way, the time is always taken to explain it will create additional snow removal and we will encourage other options. If the client is adamant then we of course yield, as this is their vision for a Colorado Dream Home. Additionally- some home owners associations require accent features which can create additional snow shed if a certain location is insisted upon. This is not to blame your friend, if we did build this home, I am just explaining our process. Forced air heating is standard in all of our homes, and we pride ourselves on energy efficient building, accomplished with 12" thick R-38 insulated walls as opposed to the standard 6" thick walls. This cuts the amount of propane fill ups you will need through a year in half. Specifically in the winter. We install many fireplaces, both gas and wood burning, but they are an option to the client. We are just coming out of a classic pagosa winter this season and can relate with the hardships (and joy in the absolute beauty) that comes with it- we received feedback from some of our most recent home owners that they were happy they had a snow shed roof designed to drive snow away from the building and were not having to shovel out of their front door every other day as a neighbor appeared to be. Please do not take my response as a sharp defense or criticism, I just was taken aback seeing it because we do put much care into the design of our homes, specifically, for snow shed and wanted to at least explain our process.
