We bought a Groupon for multiple classes to prepare for our upcoming wedding. When I called to schedule our first class, Felicia answered and took my information (of the song and my dress) with such enthusiasm that I was getting more excited. You can tell she was brainstorming with ideas from that first conversation. We scheduled a session but later Felicia called back and was able to get us in that night to work with Fernando because of a last minute opening. After our first class we signed up for 20 hours to work on our first dance. The first few classes with Fernando were to learn basic moves for our type of dance that fit our music. Fernando is very patient and breaks you of your "two left feet" mentality. He was great in getting us ready to work with Felicia. With only a few weeks in, we are well on our way with our choreographed first dance. Felicia has taken us well beyond what we ever thought we could get to. They have very different teaching styles which insures that you understand and stay focused on your goal. Felicia really listens to what you want and balances that with what you are capable of, while still having the ability to "wow" a crowd. We have had nothing short of a great time every time we are in the studio. This has been such a great stress reliever with all the wedding planning that comes in the last two months. My fiancé and I signed up for dance lessons for our wedding day. Turn out, she used to dance here when she was younger. I, myself, am not a dancer. I was so nervous in the beginner. I expected to be horrible and not really be able to dance. We started off with Fernando, who helped us with the basics. I was like, okay, cool. I got this. My fiancé and I practiced at home and she helped me to get the steps down. By our 3rd lesson, we were working with Felicia. She began to help us with the choreography and putting it all together. My boyfriend and I came here absolutely CLUELESS about dancing. I had a problem with letting him lead and he was very stiff. Today sadly being our last class, he was leading me in bachata, spinning me left and right, making all the right moves and turns with merengue even after learning it at the last minute!! Felicia is incredible! Very kind and understanding. She makes each lesson fun and helped us understand all the steps. Any error she immediately corrected it and would even put herself in our position to properly show me or him the proper way. Classes are always something to look forward to and they go by so quickly because of how fun they can be! The days she wasn't available we had lessons with Fernando and he also worked very well with us and helped my boyfriend with salsa. Aside from dancing, they also are very flexible with scheduling. Our wedding guests literally ROARED during our First Dance. They said the dance itself was the highlight of the wedding. This wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for Felicia and her dance instructors. Felicia has so much energy and makes sure we get the choreography right. Aside from the dance routine, Felicia gave us excellent pointers regarding where the bridal party should stand during the dance routine. She also advised us how/where to look during the dance as it pertains to the photographer/videographer. As a result, our wedding pictures came out that much more amazing and symbolic than had we not taken her advice. Lastly, the secret to a successful dance is practicing on your own time. If you do not practice beyond the instructor sessions, you will only stress yourself out further, and likely forget what you learned. There is a lot to learn in each class, so you will have to continue practicing at home. Felicia was so kind as to offer use one of her her studio rooms to practice on our own. We have been working with Felicia and Fernando for almost half a year and have had a wonderful experience. We came to Continental Dance Club to prepare for our wedding as both my fiancé and I are rather challenged when it comes to the art of dancing! Right away Felicia recognized that we would need a lot of work and helped us feel comfortable dancing. I lack rhythm and finesse, but Felicia was able to help us make prepare for our first wedding dance together so that we would be able to dance (and impress) our friends and family. We really enjoyed Felicia's sense of humor as we learned dance. My parents even came in for one lesson and we were able to practice a basic Waltz as well as work on some hustle steps. They were super impressed with Felicia! We worked with Felicia and Fernando at Continental Dance, but also got to meet some of the other instructors. They can teach all dance styles such as foxtrot, hustle, salsa, belly dancing, and waltz. Whatever the need and whatever the experience the staff at Continental Dance Club can assist. The scheduling is very accommodating and you can always work with any professional to find the time you need. For those who are preparing for their wedding I have two recommendations: 1. Start as early as possible. 2. Bring the dress in to Continental to ensure you can do the right moves! I'm lucky to have this school right by me - it's a gem! The school offers a variety of dance classes for all levels and are very affordable. I just completed the beginners salsa class with instructor Fernando who does a great job explaining and reexplaining the steps as much as you need. I look forward to continuing with him at the more intermediate level. A nice bonus is that after each class, the dance floor is open for an hour to anyone wanting to practice their new moves. Felicia the owner is very warm and makes an effort to get to know all of the students. I also appreciate that she is always around and happy to offer you a pointer or two as she is an accomplished dancer herself. This school is also a nice social outlet as I've met some very nice folks here from their 20s and up, and they also open their doors to dance parties and meetups.
