RUN AWAY. I called ECO Restoration after being flooded during Hurricane Beryl because they are an…read moreIICRC-certified firm. Come to find out most of those standards are not followed. They came out and did the demolition and threw away items without informing anyone. They didnt hook back up the washer/dryer, hot water heater, etc.. after they removed them. They refused to come back and do it. I had to pay someone else to come do those things and ECO is still trying to charge me for it. They did not come back and monitor the drying and equipment but tried to charge my insurance company for it. They insurance company refused. The adjusters told me that ECO was falsifying thier records/pictures but wont say that publicly. They just kept asking for ECOs proof pics which they are required to provide. ECO couldnt produce those.

DO NOT USE. I would give zero stars if I could. I hired this company after a referral from my…read moreinsurance agent and I wish I had done more research beforehand. DO NOT pay them your deductible up front because they will take advantage of you AND the insurance company. My initial contract specifically said to fix the leaks on the roof (even just tarp it). This was the entire reason I hired them so they could prevent further damage to the interior of the house. The project manager kept saying daily that the leaks would be getting mitigated, but after talking to the roofing department he said there was a miscommunication, and they didn't know about it. This whole time they were charging me for drying equipment while everything kept getting wet and the interior got worse. They also pulled out drywall that wasn't damaged because they knew insurance would pay. I was frustrated, but my agent assured me she had talked with them as well and they would get the job done. They continued to lie to me and tell me that they were taking care of the roof until one day I got a call asking to pay the invoice and they were done with the job. My agent was shocked and didn't even know what to say. They left the place worse than when they started, and I was out a deductible plus further damage to the house. When the agent and I approached the owner to address the issues, he told me he "had empathy" for me but was not willing to work on an agreement to make it right, even with their inflated pricing. I have all the documentation if anyone is truly interested. It is unfortunate that this company takes advantage of natural disasters and distressed people for their benefit. The one thing they are definitely good at is getting money from insurance, which hurts us all in the end.

That allowed humidity into the walls and caused mold and paint blistering around my front entry door. I turned again to YELP to locate a company to remediate the results and find the cause or source of the problem. Alan's Restoration had the highest number of 5-star reviews so I took a chance and contacted them - now wary of the highly rated YELP reviews. Turns out this outfit is worth their 5-stars - and then some. EXCELLENT customer service including accurate and frequent communication, fast response, quick turnaround, friendly people and most important - when a substantial problem (that they did not create) developed during the project - they came back after completion and corrected it the next day. And I'm sure it was probably at their expense. Not many companies like this around anymore. I know that for sure from nearly 70 years of experience with 50 in project management. It's a real crap shoot these days when contracting with anyone on YELP or pretty much anywhere else, as I unfortunately found out with that cable company that caused this entire problem. So, I could not rate this company any higher and I recommend them more than any other I've dealt with in many decades. They yanked my bacon outa' the frying pan on this one.

Luis sent his guys over to resolve the issue, but instead of properly addressing the true issue, they glued the planks down. As time passed, more planks started to come up. It turns out that they never laid down a moisture barrier, so I'm at risk of eventually having to replace the entire flooring down the line. I expressed this discovery to Luis and nothing.... not a response, not an explanation, just a read text message. He doesn't return phone calls, nothing. He's there in the moment, fools you into thinking all is well, and just cuts you off. Be careful and do your homework before hiring Morningstar Restoration. These guys aren't true professionals, just a bunch of his friends that have some experience. Not to mention, they used 2 different brands of vinyl planks, prompting them to modify one type to align with the other. Per true professionals, this was a lazy and cheap installation. The fact that I have to call Luis from random numbers to get a response, the fact that he's aware of my issue and won't even acknowledge me... this is what speaks to his character. When hiring this company, please make sure you understand his method, compare to other professional plans, and refine your warranty and expectations after services are complete.
