I have been getting my haircut here for many years. The original owners were from Italy, and I rarely got a bad cut. A few years ago the business changed hands, and since then I have never been disappointed with my haircuts there. I've been going here since Covid, and I will never go back to over-priced Manhattan hair stylists. The barbers are skilled attentive, and respectful of your time. Call for an appointment in advance and they will save your time slot. Continental is no longer open on Saturday as they are observing Shabbat. Plan appropriately. read more

Friendly service and very convenient. Arthur will give you a great haircut but if he's not available his co-worker also does a great job. Appointment or walkin. Those reviews from back in 2014 sound like a different place. There is no old man there and there are only the two barbers, a man and a woman. None of those things indicated in those reviews has ever happened, either to me or to anyone while I was there. read more

Been going here for almost 10 years. Always pleasant and cut my hair just the way I like. This is a traditional barber. If you want a faded pink mullet, then perhaps you should go down to the east village. But Continental is a great place for a good traditional haircut. Currently $25 for a haircut. Pretty standard pricing for the area. No complaints from me. read more

I have been going to Nick for almost thirty years and get a perfect haircut every time. I make a special trip from Westchester to go to Riverdale for a haircut at Continental. This place is rare in that it takes phoned in appointments over those that wait in store. They will also attempt to push a customer onto another barber who is free even after it has been made clear that they're waiting for a particular barber. During my last visit (which will be my last visit) I sat down into the barber's chair after waiting for 45 minutes only to have the apron taken off. I was asked to get up & out of the seat for a 8 year old kid whose mother had phoned ahead. Incredulous, I walked out. This has never happened to me before. I ended up finding a great Dominican barbershop down the street on West 231st where my business is appreciated. read more

Awesome, traditional barber shop. These guys are true Italians and have been serving customers for over 30 years. I always see Nick when I'm there - I'm 41yo and I've never had such a consistently good hair cut. I lived in Riverdale for years and even though I've moved away, I still go back just for them! No frills, but if you're looking for a great cut at a good price, you can't beat going here. I don't get the other review: you get a good haircut and only three stars? Went for a cut not knowing a good place in the area. Ended up with an overpriced bad haircut. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Been here numerous times, always got a strange vibe but stuck with it as it was close to my apartment. My last 3 times my experience was horrible one of the older guys who I think has been there forever stank of alcohol and did a really bad job,(I'm a full time bartender so I know when someone smells of it). Next time I was waiting for 15 mins or so as the lady and the guy had people the guy finished with his customer I was about to stand up to go to the chair and a man walks through the door he recognizes him and says come ahead, I was about to speak up when the lady then finished so I went to her. The last time there was 3 barbers there one of them is not there that often, I wait for 10 mins the older barber finishes with a customer, ignores me and starts sweeping floor the lady finishes and says something to the 3rd barber who had just returned from a break, he asks me do i mind If she takes another guy first (who had walked in 7 or 8 mins after me) and he will take me in a couple of mins. I stand up and say this isn't the first time this has happened here in going some place else and I walked out. Very strange people working there. read more
