My visit here was very positive! The directions were easy to follow but if you need assistance finding your way, every staff member is happy to help you and very friendly. From the Barker Street entrance just follow the purple path to the elevator, go to the 2nd floor and continue on until you see the sign that says Billington Centre. Easy peasy. Sheree schedules appointments and also checks you in upon arrival. Due to Covid, scheduling was dramatically impacted so I'm guessing Sheree fielded lots of frantic or distressed people wanting to know when they could schedule their procedure. Sheree is friendly and professional and helpful and calm(!). I applaud her and thank her! This unit has several nurses and members of staff, all kind and friendly. Stephen Butler!!! I don't know if I kept him laughing or if he kept me laughing but, I can not thank him enough for his professionalism, friendliness, too. Gareth and Stephen have a fantastic rapport with each other and it radiates to everyone else. Gareth gave me my post-procedure information and instructions, also answered my questions and another friendly face of this unit. Dr Sorayya is the anaesthetists' intern who explained everything, what to expect, and answered all my questions. Naturally, each member of this well coordinated team followed up with me afterwards, making sure I was doing alright. I was pleasantly surprised to have a follow up phone call from Stephen the day after my procedure. The teamwork and professionalism exhibited deserve kudos to every member of this team and of the unit as well as the Billington Centre. One of my very close friends (hi Sal!) just punched out a baby (hi Raphael!) and, until I can find him a red eyemask and a pair of sai as a welcome to the world gift, I swung by P.O.W. Private for a visit. For such a monolithic complex it's remarkably easy & straightforward to park, navigate and get where you're going. From car to kisses was about 3 minutes, with a 1 minute break to help a blind man out the front of the sliding doors find a bench to sit down on. The rooms are clean, well-appointed, the nurses nicely starched, and everything had an air of well-looked-after-ness. In place of the jello and custard my patient event had a fresh chicken salad sitting in her food table - hospital vittles have come a long way. Even got to see a bit of boob in the new baby feeding room. Of course, I'm sure they're paying for the privilege, but still. Schmick.

I went in to get a health check which was required for a personal matter of travel, and he said he would take care of it on the government system instead of requesting me to pay privately, which is what is usually required. The practice is small, and you can't call in to make a reservation, but the waiting room is small, so it can't be more than 3 person wait. He will do call-outs for locals, elderly people, and small children in emergency matters.

I had, perhaps the worst medical experience of my life when I last visited Bondi Doctors…read more I had called and made an appointment for a bad illness I had at the time. I attended the clinic promptly - filled in the necessary forms and was asked to wait. Doctors clinics are always busy, so waiting to be seen is obviously something completely understandable. Being handled shockingly by the snooty receptionist who work at this particular clinic isn't acceptable. The clinic was empty that day (11am on a Wednesday). After being asked to wait more than an hour (and seeing other people who had arrived afterwards without bookings being sent in front of me) - I politely asked the receptionist if the wait for my appointment was going to be much longer. I was told "Because you were 2 minutes late, I decided that others required more urgent medical treatment than you". I asked her if she was a doctor - and was told she wasn't. After hearing that, I decided it just wasn't worth it and left. Well done, Bondi Doctors on hiring a receptionist who, despite any medical qualifications, is the one to decide how 'sick' a patient is. Wont be returning - and from all i've heard from others who live in the area, i'm not missing much.

Instead I was confronted with an individual who despite being friendly and polite displayed no apparent interest in my health issues and was just eager to rush and finish the appointment like he really wanted to be elsewhere and not talking to me. At this point, I felt this heavy feeling develop at the pit of my stomach and very let down, that this is the appointment I have been waiting for weeks, and this is what it amounted to. Still at this point I had hope and wanted to give Dr Riordan the benefit of the doubt , that he is a busy man and started asking questions regarding my digestive issue and I basically got silence or dismissive answers in response, with zero elaboration or effort on Dr Riordan's part in an attempt to comprehend my problem or symptoms or give any sort of insight. He is a doctor and it's his job dealing with and treating people with health problems like mine, but what I got was the equivalent insight of talking to some random nobody on the street about my health issues. I saw this appointment was going nowhere and stopped talking, and finally Dr Riordan spoke and his answer was, you need to come in for an endoscopy and colonoscopy in a few months time. My response was, but what about now till that time. I expected some insight, some treatment, anything to help reduce my symptoms. Nope, nothing, zero. That was basically the end of this appointment. Basically it was a sales pitch and poor quality one at that to get people to buy and have colonoscopies and endoscopies done on them. I accept the diagnostic value of such procedures, but if I simply wanted an appointment to order an endoscopy and colonoscopy, I wouldn't have sought the services of a professor in this field. What I got was simply a poor quality sales pitch masquerading as a doctor's appointment. This experience is bordering on distressing for me as I really had high expectations and would finally receive the care I have been seeking for so long and got the total opposite.
