I stop in here about once a month to pick up rabies tags for the clinic. The parking is a mess. It is always full and even though it's beside the building it's several "blocks" to the front door with lots of deep pot house. Nice greeting. Of course there is a metal detector but the staff is alway friendly and chatty. The building itself is rough, still has areas that were abandoned due to covid protocols. Must better experience then it was years ago. I needed to get a copy of a few of my records and ran into a few hiccups but, the clerk who assisted me happened to see me coming back while she was outside taking a break and went out of her way to walk me through all the steps so I wouldn't have to go back and forth. She helped me solve all of the issues and misinformation I was previously given and I was squared away and ready to go within a few hours. She even printed some documents for free for my troubles. Please hire more people like her. Everyone that comes to the courthouse has varying reasons for being there but all should be treated with decency and respect. The employees that answer the phone are the most horrendous humans that walk this earth. Talk down to people as if they're dumb, rude, condescending, unhelpful. They couldn't listen to a very simple request, spoke over me assuming they knew what I asking. When I went to clarify I was talked down to worse than my own enemy would speak to me. She then hung up on me after I attempted to politely correct her- as I was asking for a completely different service. Absolutely waste of my tax paying dollars to employ such arrogant jerks. If you ever have need to come here it is a nice place at a very convenient location. Technically this Bridgeview Courthouse is much more than just the Clerk's Office. First of all, it is the Circuit Court for this area - it is one of the satellite courthouses that works in conjunction with the main one at 26th & California. Bridgeview takes care of most of the southwest suburbs of Cook County for most cases. Murder and the like usually end up at 26th Street. Secondly, it is also an office of the Cook County Treasurer, so if you need help with your Property Tax bill this is where you can get excellent service. There is also a Recorder's Office here to get birth certificates and the like. And, of course, if you are called for jury duty it may just be to this particular courthouse. Parking is convenient in large parking lots. Security by the Cook County Sheriff's office is excellent. There is also a branch of the Cook County Law Library, most useful for attorneys mostly. Staff and professionals inside were very nice and capable. Liked this place if you have need to go here - so don't hesitate to visit ... your Cook County taxes paid for it. Recommended. read more

After waiting nearly a year, I finally decided to get my daughter's birth certificate. I'd prepared to be there a while, just to avoid what I was sure would be my attitude later on. I was surprised that everything ran smoothly. Security was standard. Remove everything from your pockets, put your purse on the security belt for surveillance, walk through the metal detectors, men and women go through separate lines. Standard. A rowdy courtroom visitor (male) was met by a fearless security guard (female)...that made for an entertaining wait in the short security line on a Thursday afternoon. Vital records is in room 238 and the lady working the desk was fast, efficient, and friendly. I wish I'd gotten her name! 4 people were ahead of me. Without be rude to the customer at the counter, she politely asked what each of us needed, then directed us to sit down. We didn't take a number, as one would be led to believe since it's right when you walk in. She very professionally remembered the order in which we came. I was out of the door in less than 10 minutes without feeling rushed and uncared for. The parking lot always looks full, but my experience was short and sweet. read more

I was called for jury service (standby) at the Bridgeview courthouse. After getting directions I realized that it was fairly convenient for me (not quite as convenient as the Daley Center or Markham however). The standbys were called in and we stayed until lunchtime as two jury cases which needed jurors settled. We received our checks ($17.20) and were dismissed. Staff were professional and kept us posted. The parking lot is relatively close to the courthouse and there is ample handicapped parking. Concerning lunch there are a variety of middle-eastern restaurants in the vicinity and a White Castle south of the courthouse. I did not drive north of the courthouse but I suspect that there fast-food places north not south. There is also a Pete's grocery store which I am sure can provide sandwiches, drinks and the like. Note: the turn to the courthouse is a left-hand one at Pete's if you are driving from the south on Harlem. Drive time: about an hour driving in snowy weather. The jury room has wi-fi service if you wish to bring your laptop computer. One of the Cook County Law Library branches is across the hallway from the jury room should research be needed. Barring the convenience of serving as a juror at the Daley Center in downtown Chicago my experience at Bridgeview was a positive one and this location is recommended. read more

The day did not start off well for me. I had been getting those dreaded jury summonses for almost a year that demanded I show up at that infamous criminal court house at 26th and California. I kept replying with proof that I had already served FOUR times and that enough was enough. Especially since you can't get there from here. Eventually they sent a summons to the Bridgeview court house which was a reasonable commute. So I decided to get it over with. Serving on a jury can actually be quite interesting. Instead of sitting at home watching Judge Judy, YOU get to decide. And cases, especially civil, do not ordinarily last that long, usually just a few days. The longest case I sat on was five days, including deliberations. For me, the worse part is getting up early in the morning. Not a morning person, so I am just not there in the AM. The commute took less than a half an hour. Parking is plentiful on a surface lot, but it fills up quickly so it might be a hike to the door. So I approach the entrance, still half asleep, and the waiting line is a mile long out the door. Anybody who is not a lawyer or employee has to go through security screening, just like TSA at the airport. Cell phones are prohibited for everyone except lawyers and jurors. To get through, you have to remove everything from all your pockets into one of those trays, remove belts and coats and pass through a very sensitive metal detector. Yeah it's a pain, but there are some really bad dudes around these courthouses. If you are a juror, have your summons ready to show the deputy to get your cell phone in. So here I am standing in this long line when the nice lady behind me points out that this is the women's line. Huh?!? Yeah, it was all females. Turns out there were separate check-ins for men and women and there was no waiting line for men. The guys just walk right in and pass through. Embarrass myself much?!? But it was too early for me. Surprised there haven't been any protests over that one. The guards here, unlike other courthouses I have been through, were friendly, pleasant and helpful. Check-in at the jury room was quick. They take your summons, review it and issue a panel number which will be used when (if) you are called. Staff was friendly and helpful. Then the wait begins. After about half an hour after scheduled arrival time, they play an ancient video on the monitor telling you about the system, etc. Then you wait some more. If a judge issues a call for a jury, the clerk will announce panel number(s) and those individuals will assemble and line up to be taken to the court room. The assembly room was relatively clean, though the chairs were hard and some had stains. There were plentiful tables and a separate glass walled-off room. TV monitors played the news. There IS free-wifi, but I didn't know about it so didn't bring a device. There are vending machines with sugary soda pop, candy and fat-laden bags of snacks, the stuff that Ms. Nannywinkle complains about and tried to tax away. Water fountains and restrooms were ok. It turned out that there were no calls for jurors, so they released the 60 of us around noon with our checks for $17.20 and we were done. So the four stars go for the guards and staff and the rest was ok. But maybe they should do something about the long line for the ladies. End of story. read more

Man this was FAST service! I literally was in and out the door within 30 minutes. My Second installment on my property tax bill was totally messed up. I was told I could either go to the downtown cook county court building or this location. I'm so thankful I took part of my day off to come here! There's free parking, it's a nice area, the county's staff is friendly and efficient and answer your questions. And I got my tax bill corrected! I would definitely suggest coming here if you are able to take care of your needs. read more

Out of all the courthouses I have been to, this is the best one. Will county court house is a joke.

I had to go to the recorders office at Bridgeview. The staff is much friendlier than downtown location but they work a lot slower. I guess thats typical of all government employees though. Do the bare minimum and stay off the radar. Well at least they were pleasant to deal with. read more

When it came time to go get our marriage license, I really did not feel like trekking downtown and spending all day at city hall. So I went over to the Bridgeview Courthouse instead. We went on a Thursday right before lunch, and we were the only ones in the office. What would have taken all day, took a grand total of ten minutes to get done. It is also a vital records office, so copies of marriage certificates, birth and death certificates can also be obtained at this office. But, the catch is it's cash only. I can't say the staff was friendly, but they were very efficient. They have longer office hours on Wednesdays, and are open until 7pm. read more

The physicality of the building is garish in contrast to the deco skyline of Chicago, there are many of these Mies Van Der Rohe look alikes built by his students and deciples, they were heralded as the future of urban living, and were all about natural light, well in my recent experience it was all about sweltering heat, particularly in the elevators, just what you need before going to court is to have a 5 minute ride in an oven. While waiting for Court most people sat on air conditioning vents along the windows rather than sitting on benches with no backs, modernism !$@ The Picasso is fun and playful and I used to ride my bike down it when I was a degenerate, now I just like to look at it. The county Cops that prowl around the corridors seem burned out, maybe they should go outside and play on the Picasso for a while? I added an additional star for the opportunity the courthouse offers those who are not as fortunate as I to view the city from a skyscraper, on my visit there were a few families taking photos with the city sprawling as their background, kudos to you for living life to the fullest. read more

Wow, with the obscene fines they charge, you'd think they'd be anxious to collect the money. But nope, you'll sit for an hour plus. What's worse is they hand you a piece of paper in court that says go straight to the counter, and then at the clerks office they have signs everywhere that says you need to take a number. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. I would give it zero stars but there is no option for that. All I had was a simple question and every one gave me attitude. Simple question like "who do I make my cashier check out to?" Shouldn't have been so freaking difficult. read more

I needed a copy of mine and my kids birth certificates. I was unprepared,my fault. Dawn the manager couldn't have been more helpful!!! Country needs more employees like her!! Well done Dawn.
