There is a bathroom located upstairs and is kept in good condition. We came here in the morning to order some espressos and a few pastries. I'm a pistachio lover and the "Rocher pistacchio" was my favorite. They also serve slices of a variety of different cakes, including pistachio, lemon, and chocolate. The Tasso is a versatile double-fronted establishment; out of one door comes your coffee or other libation, your snacks or light meals; out of the other comes your ice cream or patisserie. The interior of the bar, too, is very nice: at the back there is even a comfortable lounge with armchairs, settees and stocked bookshelves if you wish to linger. None of this is apparent from the modest exterior. It is not the cheapest location in town, but the service is good, the snacks are tasty, the pastries are excellent, and the views are superb.

It's right outside the Funicular exit, so has a prime position, and you could easily be tempted by its pavement tables and bright lights. You will pay handsomely for its services. We were booked into the 'Tre Torri' that evening, so although the nibbles looked good we said no, thanks. Then the bill for the prosecco was put on the table: 25 euros for a very ordinary bottle, found at half the price elsewhere. Ah well, let's get some value said someone, and he fetched a plate or two of morsels from the Happy Hour Table. The waitress pounced; the bill was amended to 30 euros. Apparently you pay a cover charge for the Happy Hour food. What's happy about that, when you're already paying premium rates for the drinks? The place is run by a Chinese gentleman and African lady. No slur on these people is intended when I say that I don't think they have quite got the hang of the Italian way of life.
