It's a strange combination of a children's disco with aperitifo, and a semi expensive restaurant,…read moreso we sat in the noice of a disco, and even though it was non smoking people smoked, we left after main course and found dessert somewhere else. The 2 dishes we got was ok, but not for the price. The bread was from yesterday or perhaps been cut this morning dry and tasteless. The waitress spoke little to no English, and in the middle of our meal the started to take away Parmesan from our table ?? Definitely sub standard for Milan even if the price was 1/2. Would not recommend!

Based on the photos that people have posted of this establishment so far, it looks like a dump. But walk in, walk through the narrow hallway, past the bathroom and the kitchen, and you are transported to an absolutely adorable candle-lit garden-like restaurant with a mini fountain in the middle. So romantic. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Milan; great atmosphere (as described above), good food, good price, and friendly staff. Recommended dishes: -Spaghetti with tomato sauce. Sounds plain... but absolutely divine, and hands down the BEST I've ever had. Maybe it's because I haven't tried a lot in Italy... but no matter. Trattoria Toscana does it great. -Pesto lasagna. Not your average lasagna but the pesto is really good! The seafood spaghetti was not the best I've had, but it was solid. I also got the sea bass to share with my friend, and it was pretty bland and passable. They do good pasta, but everything else is mediocre. And everything is priced extremely reasonably! Average plate of pasta is under 10 euros. The staff here are really nice and accommodating. My friend was indecisive about two dishes, and the waitress just let him have one for free, "so we could all try it, *wink." So nice of her! Highly recommend this place for a group dinner (there is a lot of seating), or a romantic date!

This is a sophisticated restaurant with incredible service and delicious food…read more We tried this restaurant for the first time during a special private family gathering, and it was great. Il Gatto Negro has a full bar with many options of cocktails, wines and beers. We tried the the risotto and the chicken with potato and prosciutto. For dessert we had the tiramisu and almond cake, and for drinks, we tried several cocktails. Everything was delicious! The service was excellent, the location was beautiful and all common areas were clean and comfortable. The view is outsanding. One thing to watch out for is getting there. This restaurant is up in a mountain and the roads are extremely narrow. My recommendation is taking an UBER or a taxi or someone who is a local driver who knows how to drive through those narrow spaces. Also, the view is better during the day. Overall, highly recommended.

I asked for a green salad and what I got was literally a third of a supermarket small green leafs packet . No other vegetables , no herbs , not even tomatoes or cucumber which our waiter said it will. No dressing. It was 15EUR. What a joke! He also served the other drinks we orderer and food and then the water. Though we were thirty and asked for water first thing. No heart in this place. Just a pretty view.

Our last night in Milan we went to this fine establishment. It serves many types of meats,…read moreincluding wild boar. A basket of breads and a bowl of olives were served to us by our waiter, Fabio. I asked his recommendation for a nice red wine that was smooth. He chose a delicious wine, perfect for the main dish beef I planned to order. My husband ordered a wonderful fizzy water that we hope we can find at home. I am celiac, so no bread for me. However, my husband said the pillowy focaccia was his favorite out of the selections in the basket. Let me tell you about the olives: they were the best green olives I have ever had, popping with garlic flavor, and their texture was perfect. They tasted home-made to me! We started the meal with a selection of cheeses which came with a pot of honey and a pot of a caramelized red onion-reduced in red wine and sweetened with a little sugar. The onion condiment was divine. It was best when topped on the truffle cheese. Main courses arrived later. My steak fillet was the softest beef I have ever eaten. In fact, it was truly the best steak I have ever eaten. Cooked to perfection! My husband ordered the sea bass and grilled veggies. We split the veggies. For dessert my husband selected a flan-like dessert that was smooth and silky while I chose a green apple sorbet that had a French Norman brandy (Calvados) on top. This was a sensational pop of flavors. Ending the meal with coffee, we promised ourselves to return on our next trip to Milano. Thank Fabio for excellent service and for making our last dinner in Milan a meal to remember!
